Samuel L. Jackson came on Tuesday's edition of "Live With Regis and Kelly" to promote his latest movie, Lakeview Terrace, but couldn't resist getting in a plug for Barack Obama. The Pulp Fiction star told Regis Philbin that when he was at the Deauville Film Festival in France, nobody really wanted to talk showbiz, instead the festival goers asked him about the upcoming election: "They're all hoping that we come into the world community by electing, you know, Barack they say. So we hope so."
The following exchange occurred on the September 16 edition of "Live With Regis and Kelly":
REGIS PHILBIN: And it seems there's another Samuel L. Jackson movie coming out every, you know, every six months. You just got back from the Deauville Film Festival.
SAMUEL L. JACKSON: Hopefully every two-and-a-half months.
PHILBIN: Two-and-a-half months is right. How was the Deauville Film Fest?
JACKSON: Deauville was great. It's actually the Deauville American Film Festival. They actually screen a lot of films that are in the theaters, but the actual competition is for independent films. And they were there and they were, you know, doing a lot of stuff. And everybody's, more than anything, they don't want to talk to you about your films. They want to talk to us about the election and they're hoping that we-
PHILBIN: Oh yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah.
JACKSON: Yeah.
KELLY RIPA: Of course, right.
JACKSON: And they're all hoping that we come into the world community by electing, you know, Barack they say. So we hope so.
PHILBIN: Yeah, well let's take a break, come back. We'll talk about the new movie, Lakeview Terrace. What a juicy role! I love this guy!

Sam Jackson what about Africa
Tue, 09/16/2008 - 16:19 ET by Lame CherryMr. Samuel Jackson, for all your millions, I have yet to hear you speak one word about the genocide in South Africa on white people nor how Robert Mugabe you want America to join with Barack Obama in the global community has terrorized both white and black people in plundering Kenya.
Why is it Mr. Jackson you want America joined to Kim in Korea, Ahmadinejad in Iran and Putin in Russia? They are the world community sir, so what is it about communist thugs you think Marxist Obama and yourself is so appealing about thugs?
Bono seems to invest huge amounts of humanitarian effort to aid all Africans. When is the last time you or Mr. Obama spent one of your millions on helping one African.
It must be the world must join to the American cause instead of degrading into that cesspool you adore Mr. Jackson.

Wed, 09/17/2008 - 00:01 ET by tomnkikiExactly why is the Deauville AMERICAN Film Festival held in France? I guess if we made it the Deauville American Film Festival Yearly, it would be DAFFY. Or, Deauville, American Film Theatre(we'll spell it the British way for the lefties), it would be DAFT. I think those suit Hollyweird quite well.
the bucket of crabs syndrome
Tue, 09/16/2008 - 16:22 ET by wizardjrA bucket of crabs is a good metaphor for the Euroweenies. If you've ever gone crabbing you may have noticed the action in the bucket when you've got maybe six or more the the ugly buggers. They just sort of walk all over each other in some sort of Brownian dance when after a bit one of them starts climbing up to the rim of the pail. Just about when he's got a claw in position to hoist himself out, the other crabs grab on and pull him back down into the mess of arms and legs.
The same thing happens in all loser cultures. Take a good look at the slums here in America and at the socialist paradises around the world. If anyone tries to haul themselves out of the "bucket" all those around him jump his ass and quickly pull him back into the morass.
That's what the Euroweenies are hoping to do to America. They recognize in Barry Zero a fellow traveler.

Now we're supposed to go back, hat in hand and ask to 'rejoin' them? After we blew their doors off economically, militarily, scientifically, and in just about every other way?
I must have missed a memo or two this week. How is it that they are superior to America that we should rejoin them? Perhaps their superior hubris in thinking they still rule the world through their empires is what they are thinking. NEW FLASH: you don't have any empires any more butt biscuits. Let me make it simple for you:
We are the world community because we are the ones who step in and take care of everything. Who does the world call in times of need......The U.S.....
It is a joke because everyone says the World Community but when it comes down to it....there is only one country that supports the world and that is the U.S.
The term is an oxymoron....which is why it is a joke.

Lots of women I work with have been turned off by Oprah for turning political and getting behind Obama...so if that's the case, let them continue. Only in their pampered drug-addled minds do they think people want to hear everything that comes out of their mouths.

Tue, 09/16/2008 - 18:06 ET by JerryPersonally, I have no problem with Samuel supporting a candidate, it's a free country. It's actually kinda refreshing to hear a liberal supporting something instead of just denigrating or demonizing a conservative.
That being said, the whole "join the world" BS is typical liberalism. They want to make things equal by bringing those at the top, down. Conservatives want to make things equal by lifting those at the bottom, up. Ergo, their desire for the United States to "join the world" so we too can wallow in mediocrity, but hey, at least they will pretend to like us.

Samuel L. Jackson's endorsement doesn't bother me
Wed, 09/17/2008 - 00:55 ET by Rush FanMr. Jackson is a liberal and therefore a Democrat. So it is not surprising that he would want Barry Obama as the next President. Additionally, he probably would like to see Obama elected because he is black. I don’t have a problem with that.
What bothers me is Jackson’s comment about coming into the world community by electing Obama. Rush Limbaugh has noted many times that one of the characteristics of most far-left liberals, especially the Hollywood crowd, is that they don’t see this country, their country, as special. They see this country as evil or bad in many ways. We torture, we invade, we are too religious, we have too many guns, we are too prosperous, we don’t take care of our poor, and we don’t share our wealth. Did I miss anything?
Earlier this year Tom Hanks came out and endorsed Obama also. Mr. Hanks made a video publicising this endorsement. Here is the YouTube link to that video. In the video Mr. Hanks goes back in history to our first president, George Washington, and says that we can make history again by the election of the country's first African American president, a “member of a race once officially considered only three-fifths of a person here.”
But Mr. Hanks is dishonest in his endorsement. What Mr. Hanks doesn’t say in the video is that he wants you to vote for Obama because he is black AND liberal. Being black is not enough. Would Tom Hanks endorse Clarence Thomas or Condoleezza Rice if they were running on the Republican ticket? Case closed. Another dishonest Hollywood liberal revealed!

It looks like the world community is nothing but a bunch of insane "truthers". Why the hell should we take them seriously?
Socialist hope Socialist Gets Elected
Wed, 09/17/2008 - 06:36 ET by lareeThat is what I take away from Samuel L Jackson appearance. Why not vote socialist, he has made his millions off of the captialist system. He doesn't want other Americans to have the same opportunity? What's wrong with Hollywood, there isn't enough hours in the day to cover that topic. When you can create your own alternate reality, the temptation to live in that "other reality" must be too strong to resist.
Anyone who votes based on "Identity" isn't voting because they care about their Country. They really think quota over merit is leveling the playing field. Barack Obama really is the "American Idol" candidate.

Samuel L Jackson
Thu, 09/18/2008 - 13:52 ET by WolverI'm so sick of these idiot celebrities who always have to put down America. If not for America Sam Jackson would be wearing a fig leaf and chasing a rabbit for food instead of being a multi-millionaire for playing make believe. America doesn't need to get with the World, the World needs to get with America. Through charities and government aid the United States feeds and helps 3/4 of the Worlds people, except where it gets stolen by their dictators. Whenever a nation is in trouble for any reason, America is on the spot to help but when America is in trouble you can count on one hand the countries who help us. To hell with these foreign parasites. It's time our government reduced foreign aid to a minimum all based on previous support and started spending the money at home and giving it back to taxpayers who paid it to begin with. At least even if the wealthy got more money back they would create jobs and stimulate the ecnonomy. It doesn't do us any good to give ten billion dollars to Africa. If Samuel Jackson wants to be so worldly he's welcome to move to Zimbabwe any time.
