Is the "Today" show obsessed with the Democratic race? Judging from Monday's show it appears so. On the day before an important primary for Republicans in Michigan, NBC's "Today" devoted almost seven minutes to the fight between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton compared to just 33 seconds to the GOP race. In fact "Today" devoted almost eight more minutes to the Detroit Auto Show in Michigan, than they did to the Republican primary in that same state.
In the 7am half-hour "Today" aired an Andrea Mitchell report on the racial undertones in the Obama vs. Clinton race followed by a full segment with co-host Meredith Vieira interviewing the Washington Post's Eugene Robinson and Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson for a total running time of 6 minutes and 50 seconds. In contrast the January 14 edition of "Today" granted the GOP race only two anchor reads from Ann Curry totaling just a mere 33 seconds. "Today" then went to CNBC's Phil Lebeau, who reported live from the Detroit Auto show, for four full segments totaling 8 minutes and 27 seconds.

Bias?
January 14, 2008 - 18:50 ET by allanfWell virutally everyone who works at the Today Show is a Democrat. On air staff, producers, writers you name it. The concept of a Republican is foreign to these people.
Aren't about 75% of the voters in New York City are registered Democrats?

Actually, the reason they don't discuss the Michigan Republican primary at any length is because they don't want you to know that anyone else besides McCain or Huckabee is running. After all, they've told you McCain's a slam dunk already! Stay home! Primary? What primary?
This is what passes for unbiased reporting...
January 14, 2008 - 19:15 ET by Army BratAnd they will swear that they're just doing their jobs in a professional manner without prejudice of any kind.
And the worst part is, they believe what they say is true.
So what if their view of what's important differs from yours or mine by a full 180 degress? They determine what is news and what isn't. It's their job to filter out the umimportant occurences of the day, and present to us what really counts...in their most humble opinions.
Happy Trails...
subtle
January 14, 2008 - 19:17 ET by goldboughDoesn't "Today" do this every day where they have more time for Dems? Maybe it's a subtle show of their dislike for Republicans - like when someone leaves a penny for a waiter instead of nothing. They'll "report" for 30 seconds just to show how much they don't like the GOP.
Does anyone even watch NBC
January 14, 2008 - 21:40 ET by allahallahoxenfreeDoes anyone even watch NBC anymore? It's a dinosaur run by imbeciles with blinders on.
