Chris Matthews Writes Campaign Speech for Obama

Chris Matthews got his start in politics by writing speeches for Jimmy Carter, well on Monday night, the "Hardball" host returned to his roots when he penned an anti-war screed that he urged Barack Obama to use as a way to attack Hillary Clinton from the left. The following excerpt is how Matthews opened the October 29 edition of "Hardball" (video available here):

Matthews: "Good evening, I'm Chris Matthews and welcome to Hardball. The 2008 election, that's the spotlight tonight. Iowa, which starts the whole thing January 3rd, is now a dead heat between Hillary and Obama. Here's what I think Obama should say, starting tomorrow night, at the big MSNBC debate in my hometown of Philly.

Quote: 'This country is in a rut. A rut that leads to endless war in Iraq, that leads to inevitable war with Iran. The American people and not just the Democrats want to get our country out of this rut. The great majority of them want this election to take us to a new place, not just led by someone smarter along the same rut. I promise to take us to that new place. Senator Clinton is smart, she's hard-working, she's serious but every vote she has cast, every word she has spoken says yes to the status quo. She voted to approve the war with Iraq, she just voted with the hawks to target Iran. She always seems to choose the safe vote that leaves this country in the same rut - the rut of fearful politics and endless war. I promise change, I promise a new approach. I promise deliverance from the rut of endless war in Iraq, inevitable war in Iran. So there you have it. It's for you, my fellow Democrats, to decide. If you think Bush would have succeeded with his policies, if they were better executed, then go with Senator Clinton. If you think the Bush policies were wrong, dead wrong, I'm with you.' Well that's what Senator Obama would say if he really wants to challenge Hillary Clinton for the leadership of the Democratic Party."

Well, I guess we know whose

Well, I guess we know whose corner Chrissie is in...so much for his idolatry of Her Royal Clintoness.

UMmmmmmm..........

Hasn't he been sayin' that all along.........?

I mostly ignored him; I

I mostly ignored him; I haven't watched his show in ages. I only remember in the past, when he would have HRC on, he was pathetic; did everything but kiss her feet.

Well, apparently he has a new love now. My guess would be his devotion died when she tried to moderate her stances?  Not leftie enough for him?

"I promise change, I

"I promise change, I promise a new approach. I promise..."

"to stick our national head in the sand for eight years, no matter what atrocities are inflicted on us. I promise a submissive and servile nation. Hey, it worked out real well under her husband, didn't it?".

Well what can I say about

Well what can I say about Matthews that hasn't been said before:

He's a democratic hack...no been said.

He's a knee jerk liberal ...uh..jerk.. nope..been said.

He's a slobering mouthpiece for the DNC...naw..been said.

Speech writer for Obama? That's sorta a new one. Well done NB.

Next to Olberloon, Matthews is the poorest excuse for an "unbiased commentator" I have seen.

I promise to take us to that new place.

a really tight fetal position...

Glad I can't do that, I'd

Glad I can't do that, I'd never leave the house! :-O

For Matthews, the hawks

For Matthews, the hawks here are the cause of the "rut of endless war" in Iraq and an inevitable conflict in Iran.

Not, mind you, the actions of Iran or the Islamists.

Not one word - not one -  critical of the actions by those elements.

The problem isn't the

The problem isn't the actions of Iran or the Islamists. The problem comes when we react to them. You know, just like Israel, when it responds to attacks by Hezbollah, is "perpetuating the cycle of violence." If we would just not react, they would stop. You know, like the pest in school that your mother told you not to let see he was bugging you, then it wouldn't be any fun and he would stop.

<sarc off>

IRAN...

The "War on Terror" has been going since 1979 if you think about it. When those wacky students seized our embassy in Iran, 1 of them was the man who is now Pres.Iwannajihad according to several of those held captive. Mathews worked for the man who pissed his pants when it hit the fan then. Jimmy Carter was the weakest President in my lifetime, & should be told to sit at the card table with the kids when it comes to dealing with radical islamisc terrorist groups. All he did was fail, he's 83 now, & won't have to deal with the end result of his "up with people" agenda. Many of the problems in the middle east are caused by Iran, they have been waging war with the USA through proxy. They must be taken out sometime, the longer it takes, the worse it will get, & the worse the fight will be.

Mathews should have a look back at the Carter record, the enconomy sucked with sky high interest rates, long lines at the gas pump, & of course, we had the MISERY INDEX. Look it up kids. Mathews knows all of this of course, that & how weak we were on the world stage. He confuses people liking you with people respecting you, he would'nt know. That fact that he fails to see how bad his old boss Jimmy Carter was should tell you all you need to know, he's not exactly a student of history.

So my advice to Sen.Obama, run like hell from anything Chris Mathews tells you. The biggest problem for Obama in terms of getting advice from anybody in the DNC is that all of the best & brightest people are Clinton people. They were with Bill then, they are with Hillary now. If Obama takes Mathews advice, he's in far more trouble then even I thought. I already thought he had nothing to sell, he's worse then I thought.

"Some of us are wise, some of us are otherwise"  Mark Levin

Normally this dolt

Normally this dolt Matthews' mouth is a good twelve to thirteen hours ahead of his brain, he usually doesn't have a clue as to what he is saying. But with this he actually sat down and penned this little "window into Chrissie's world". IF there were any doubt (and thats a big "if") as to who's water Matthews is carrying, it is no longer in question. And, yes, what a maroon.

There's Just Not . . . .

There's just not a large enough barf bag after reading that nonsense, from that moron.  I will say it again, how is it that the suits at NBC allow this moron to have his soap box, nite, after nite, after nite?

Bourbeau

Well, the silver lining in this cloud....is that MSNBC can't defend it's position of being fair, neutral, and non-partisan with Matthews hanging it so faaaar out there, now, can they?

It is really laughable that these people are so transparently stupid.

Good point, Blonde.  Memo to MSNBC:  one of your talk show hosts wrote a speech for one of the presidential candidates.  Tell us there's no bias there.

Hey, Blonde, how do you think H.R. Clinton will react to such a serious transgression by one of her former minions?

I suspect Chrissy might not want to go anywhere, ever again, alone.

Do you suspect we'll see HRC on Chrissy's show soon?

These dem candidates just continue to duck & flail.

Her highness will fold at the first parry from the (R) candidate.

And I shall LMAO!

These dems are so special!

Rut? I thought the word

was malaise, Chrissy?

Coming from Jimmy Carter's tool shed....

You'd think anyone running for any position would avoid someone from the most administration of America's most pathetic Presidency....but then again, they're liberals and whatever they is usually 180 degrees out of sink with reality or effectiveness.

(unless your Uber Clinton and have people disappear, killed, Ft. Marcy parked or investigated to death by the IRS or FBI. Or hey! even burned to death by the DEA and ATF....)

Bill's lips to Reno's ears

And thus saith Bill to Janet:  "Suffer the little children to burn unto me.  For it is a sweet savor to my nostrils".

Seems nobody ever mentions that Reno openly declared Koresh as a madman and then proceeded to provoke him in ways contrary those prescribed when dealing with a madman in a hostage situation.
