Ann Curry Cites Climate Change as Cause of Tween Stress

It's bad enough that NBC News is spending hours of coverage devoted, strictly to the global warming cause but now they're even squeezing their green indoctrination into stories on tween stress. On Wednesday's "Today" show Ann curry highlighted some of the reasons kids today are more stressed than ever and cited "climate change" as one of them.

The following occurred in the 9am half-hour of the October 17, "Today" show:

Ann Curry: " Feeling a little stressed out these days? Well you're not the only one. A new report out says that today's tweens, that's children between the ages of 7 and 11, may be feeling more stress than ever. It may not be a surprise when you consider some of the reasons why. From the senseless violence in the news-"

Unidentified boy: "Sometimes stuff happens around school and stuff and people start stuff."

Curry: "-the effects of climate change-"

Unidentified boy#2: "It's killing all the animals and melting all the icebergs."

Curry: "-to all those tests in school."

Girl: "I worry about, like math and social studies because last time I almost flunked my social studies test."

Curry: "-kids are stressed out."

Gee, Ann ... Ya did good!

Gee, Ann ... Ya did good! You and Al Gore and the rest of the GWCult succeeded in scaring the living crap out of a generation of kids ... you and the neoPRAVDA slapping them around with whatever negative spin and crafting of war coverage you could come up with ... and now deflecting the responsibility for it.

Throw in test anxiety and instead of birth control the schools should be passing out ludes !

Actually, my cure for these poor stressed out kids: SHUT YOU AND THE REST OF THE MSM OFF!!

Watch the numbers skyrocket

Know how to increase stress levels? Try these:

  • "Stress. The unseen killer."
  • "Left unresolved, everyday worries can lead to stroke, paralysis ..."
  • "How do you know if you're having a heart attack?"

I'm now convinced the media works for the American Medical Association, drumming up business when things get slow ...

It's just another liberal

It's just another liberal hitjob on conservatives. The truth is, THEY are the cause of it. When I was seven years old, I didn't even know there was a war in Vietnam going on. Because my parents wanted us to be kids, not worrying about the ridiculous world the adults had created. We were'nt bombarded with it by our teachers and there were only 3 channels on TV, and kids were not watching Walter Cronkite and crew.

Now, kids are stressed out by the war, aids, global warming, bird flu, SARS, staph, STD's, racism, madcow disease, lead toys from China, Britney, the cost of Hannah Montana tickets, the dangerous game of tag, and impending asteroid strikes.

They should concentrate on teaching our children to speak proper English. This kid was embarrassing:

"Sometimes stuff happens around school and stuff and people start stuff."

Well, at least he didnt use

Well, at least he didnt use "like" every other word.

Maybe it's all the "sky is

Maybe it's all the "sky is falling" doom and gloom they're being bombarded with by the fear-mongering socialists...

I'm pretty stressed myself...

The left hits the tweens with a constant barrage about "AGW",

and that the world is doomed.   Is anyone surprised that we're raising a generation of stressed and fearful children?

Gotta do something!

This kind of crap is an inevitable result of the plethora of broadcast options and the need to fill time on those options.   Who wants to listen to a story about "tweens" who are doing fine?  Nobody.  So let's manufacture a story about tween stress and fill it with as much crap as we can so that another 3-minute slot is filled.

Really, this is no different than the approach of a modern-day liberal who imagines/manufactures/creates a crisis so that he or she can get air and, regrettably, policy time.

For a society that has riches far beyond what could even have been imagined 50 years ago, we sure do have a lot of crises.

Dunque

Dun.... For a society

Dun....

For a society that has riches far beyond what could even have been imagined 50 years ago, we sure do have a lot of crises.

Boy, have you got that right on the money!

Some of the problem is quite a lot of people have way too much time on their hands and their noses where they don't belong ...along with trial lawyers at their side to get in at every angle they can.

Sad in some ways how time has changed some of the good things in this country...

One of them being reality.

All i can say is amen

All i can say is amen brothers, you are both on point.

Gee, Ann, do you think that

Gee, Ann, do you think that maybe the fact that the media is constantly telling kids that global warming is "killing all the animals and melting all the icebergs."

and destroying the earth, filling them with nightmares of heat waves, flooding, storms and other disasters

has anything to do with their increased stress levels?

Jeez, I just saw everyone else's comments when I posted mine....this is so obvious, how can Ann Curry say what she is saying with a straight face and not realize that she and her ilk are the problem???????????

ROFL If children are

ROFL

If children are worried about it, it's only because tabloid journalists are brainwashing them into being scared.

ENOUGH already....

Dr....

It was meant for acumen...lol.

Tried to get back to you earlier but my server went down.

Seems Implausible

How can any kid possibly fail a middle school social studies test these days?!   Don't worry kid.  You'll be socially promoted as long as you answer that the penguins are drowning in melted icebergs.

And like all that stuff that happens and stuff and...oh... like that other stuff that my like best friend texted me about and stuff... that like keeps me worrying about like stuff is going to knock the stuffing out of me.

<insert witty signature here>

I just noted...

that the kid in the picture associated with this story is wearing a helmet.  Good thing, too.

Who says our kids today aren't special?

<insert witty signature here>

He probably rides the short

He probably rides the short bus!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Hey, Ann and NBC News!

Don't forget to mention your role in causing this "stress"! Being The Goreacle's ah, propaganda minister and feeding the public all this AGW hype instead of following the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics is in direct violation of this code of ethics.

Just my $0.02

I wish I could tell this

I wish I could tell this kid  to ask for the names of the species that have already ceased to exist. And specifically what species have died out due to climate change rather than due to hunting, land use changes, or as a result of the introduction a preditor or competing species.

There's a lot of BS here. And people like ANN are the reason you're stressed.

Of course, when I was a kid. I thought I'd have to survive in a make shift fall out shelter for a couple of years.

My Little Tiny Contribution

I'm working on extincting the elk population, one tasty bull at a time.

<insert witty signature here>

I found the list. Even

I found the list. Even better. It's Anthropogenic. Though they say "150" species have gone extinct "every one caused by humans" And it goes back to 1627.

The list has 27. Who are the other 123?

So 27 or 150 depending on which you use in 380 years. I though it was hundreds per day?

But please look at the list. An interesting list. BTW some look like sub-species rather than destinct species.

Which died due to "Climate change"?

Please, Ann. Have a soul or

Please, Ann. Have a soul or heart if you have one. Tell that poor kid not to worry about species going extinct.

LOL danbo... Now if we

LOL danbo...

Now if we just could be so lucky as to have her leftist ilk be on the brink of extinction.

danbo, they have claimed

danbo, they have claimed that "thousands" of species disappear every year. This is exactly the kind of comment that they expect everyone to just blindly accept. Who in the Sam Hill counts all these species every flaming year and does the math??????

This is just B as in B, S as in S.

If you are a scientist and

If you are a scientist and you are seeking a grant to study the mating habits of amazonian butterflys, you will never get your grant.

BUT, if you say you want to study how 'global warming' is affecting the mating habits of amazonian butterflys, BINGO.

Most scientists and researchers need grant money to survive....they aren't like, stupid, you know, it's just that they need the stuff to get their stuff and there's all this, like, other stuff goin' on.

For the life of me, I just

For the life of me, I just can't get upset about another species facing extinction. (Other than pandas. I really like pandas.)

It's all about survival of the fittest. In the event of climate change, the species which manage to survive either by adapting to the conditions or moving to a more suitable climate are the ones which are meant to maintain the population.

Power to the people!

"I really like pandas."

"I really like pandas."  Why?  Do they taste like chicken?  Cats and dogs make some fine tamales, and cat skins can be cured to make the sounding boards for banjos.

I am against hunting a critter just to put its head on your wall, but hunting for food is okay, as is killing critters that damage your crops or herds, or are pests.

But, all this natural organic fertilizer about polar bears dying because of manmade global warming is ridiculous.  Polar bears managed to survive the Medieval Warm Period just fine.  Otherwise, we wouldn't have any Polar bears today.  Species have been going extinct for ages (literally).  Very few of the extinctions have been due to interferance from mankind.  In the natural world doodoo occurs.  Deal with it.

Ann may have a

Ann may have a point...

My 14 yr old granddaughter does get stressed over this subject. This year has been especially tough for her because she has a couple of teachers that promote AGW almost on a daily basis. Because my wife and I are a large part of her education she knows the other side of the debate. When she has challenged her teachers with question like "why are the other planets warming" she get's told she doesn't understand the complexitity of the problem. So then she asks the obvious question "if it's so complex could you please explain it to us" and she is immediately shutdown.

So Ann may be right.... I know of one child that is stressed out over AGW. She doesn't like being lied to!

Wrong, wrong, wrong Ms.

Wrong, wrong, wrong Ms. Curry. It's Al Gore that stressing kids out. He needs to let them know that "An Inconvenient Lie" is nothing more than a scary movie, albeit not nearly as entertaining as the "Halloween" franchise. And schools shouldn't be wasting valuable educational time showing scary movies anyway.

Power to the people!

You know something

You know something Queen...I was chucklin' reading your post, but then it struck me, if all this global warming BS is stressing and scaring the kids... someone needs to start a law-suit and demand that it be taken out of all schools...this could affect these kids psychologically for the rest of their lives dontcha' know?

Trial lawyers are everywhere...why the heck not this?

Interesting thought, bt.

Interesting thought, bt. Wonder if John Edwards has the time. ;)

Liberals abusing kids. . .

I’m not surprised with all the ‘Liberal Indoctrinating’ going on today’s public schools like forcing kids to watch Al Gore’s con job four, five, or more times in English class, Science class, History class, Foreign language, physical education class, music class, rainy recesses, etc. . .     Tell a lie enough times and people start to believe it.   Poor kids, could this be classified as Liberals abusing kids?

director of wildlife research. [...] While he agrees that seals are
essential food for bears as they fatten up during the spring and summer
months - seal blubber makes up half of the bears' energy intake - he
also suspects bears will be able to supplement their diet with other
foods, such as walrus. During the summer months polar bears may also
forage on berries, sedges and other plants, as well as bird eggs, to
supplement their diet. And Taylor also points out female polar bears go
nine months without eating at all during pregnancy. Besides, Taylor
says he and numerous Inuit hunters have seen bears catch seal without
the presence of sea ice. Bears sometimes find a place on shore to
pounce on seals swimming by. Or they may catch seals caught in tidal
pools, or sneak up on their prey at night. Taylor even suggests polar
bears may float still on the water to fool seals into thinking they are
hunks of sea ice."

The Anti "Man-Made" Global Warming Resource

Remember when they used to

Remember when they used to trot out children to say how scared Ronald Reagan was making them because he "could cause nuclear war"? This is like a remix...

Chris ...wow! My guy and

Chris ...wow!

My guy and me were talking about that just two days ago, it was in regards to the SCHIP BS and the left using the kids, but they have always done since I can remember...always.

You would think it is getting rather old by now, but I guess they just plan on using newer generations/viewers, plus not so bright or people not very tuned to politics much yet...

I am weary of the despicable ploy.

kids and TV

When I was visiting my brother in law, I got up early around
5am (I’m a morning person) only to see his 8 year old daughter watching the
weather channel. I asked her how the weather looked for a day at the beach? She
turned around and started with this whole speech about how global warming is
going to destroy the planet. That the cottage we were in on the beach will be
under water in just a few years.

It’s sad, when I was 8 the only thing I was worried about in
the summer was if I could go fishing or swimming, or play baseball with my
friends.

I told her that things will be ok and that maybe she should
not watch too much TV.

When her Mom got up, she "told on me"..lol..

Her mom said: so.. you.. don’t.. believe.. in.. global..
warming..?? Dripping with sarcasm. At that point I start to laugh, I told her:
hey you are in America you can think what you like and I can as well.

I’m glad I was leaving the next day..

I had the good fortune to

I had the good fortune to vacation out on the Hamptons this past summer.  The area is bespeckled with multi-million dollar homes with the most expensive on the beach.  So, here we have millionaires with homes on the beach.  Certainly, some of them are swallowing this GW crap, but not one of them was moving his or her home to higher ground, none were on stilts, and none of them were for sale with a sign - Selling Due to GW!

I wonder why?

Ann, the BS shields must be up at the Hamptons or they are having so much fun, like I did, they just aren't paying attention to the drive by medias' scare mongering.

Oh, well . . .

My daugher, who is 12, had

My daugher, who is 12, had a disagreement with one of her friends over global warming (I kid you not). My daughter, a straight A student, was trying to tell her friend that global warming is not caused by man. Her friend kept saying that the polar icecaps were melting and we were going to be destroyed. My daughter pointed out that God said he would never destroy the earth again by water.

I am so proud I could burst! Her friend did not have any comment on that note.

I don't know how any of us survived our childhoods

Those Born 1930-1979!

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the
1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!

First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we
rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats,
booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and
NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because .

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were
back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.

And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms.......

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house
and knocked on the door or rang the bell,
or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them . . . CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as
kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives
for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they
will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

And at first we had no

And at first we had no TV. We listened to hate radio. Amos and Andy, The creeking door, the Phantom, and Gunsmoke. And we learned things from it. Like good and bad.

And as tough as it is now for the poor tweens beings scared by newscasters and politicians that the the polar bears might become extinct. We lived with the threat of being incenerated in an instant. Or spending years cramped in a fall out shelter.
