'Today' Ignores Jane Fonda's Liberal Talk Radio Flop

Photo of Geoffrey Dickens.

Almost a year ago, the "Today" show went out of its way to promote the "legendary" Jane Fonda's new liberal radio network but since the Women's Radio Network's final broadcast on Friday, "Today" has yet to mention the latest liberal talk radio failure.

The following excerpt is from an announcement by GreenStone Media's CEO, Susan Ness. Ness blamed the network's demise on, what she believed, was the ignorant perception that they were "too feminist."

We developed fabulous shows, but we were not successful getting station carriage. Perhaps it was because we were ignorantly perceived as being too "feminist" or too "political." (It is odd that radio executives consider Rush Limbaugh entertainment and not political, but women—well, that's another story.) All they had to do was listen!

For more on the network's demise check out the story over on Newsmax.

Fabulous shows

Besides, they had fabulous shows, so how could we complain?

I saw Fonda's show a couple of times

....it was an exercise infomercial, wasn't it?  What, did it go off the air?

Jane Fonda + "women

Jane Fonda + "women issues" - what in the heck other than a liberal feminist network would it be?

The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.

Amazing...

Good Old Hanoi Jane remains irrelevant.....This kinda thing is very hard on a liberal SmakTard...The usual 'We're Gonna Change the World and Everyone Will Get a Big Hug' goes Ker-Splat!!! Wonder how they are all trying to rationalize it out to make them selves feel better?? Ouch...Mebbe she can call up old Al Franken up for some pointers.....If he can take time off working on his master plan to turn the Land of 10,000 Lakes into a MoonBat paradise....

I wonder if she had any of her own coin invested in this fine enterprise???

She musta picked up some lingo when she was schmoozing up North..

Chu Hoi!!!!

A Mighty HEH!!! goes out to all involved...

Now, this might sting just a little bit.....

Forget Fonda and her ilk,

Forget Fonda and her ilk, Laura Ingraham and Michelle Malkin are my role models.

" ..the ignorant

" ..the ignorant perception that they were "too feminist." "

Stupid public. Too dumb to realize that Jane's opinions are mainstream, commonly held, all-American, apple-pie values.

So let's see.. Liberal talk radio... Air America... The Hanoi Hotline.. despite massive volumes of free advertising by the MSM.. in spite of a barrage of positive MSM stories.. are embarassing and complete failures.

The only way the left succeeds is when they have a captive audience with no other options. ABC, NBC, CBS (we must squash Fox News). Liberal teachers in liberal public education (we must squash school choice).

When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment
vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any
President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

Isn't that the truth...since

Isn't that the truth...since the free market won't accept their product, they get the government to subsidize it (NPR). Liberalism cannot tolerate the open and free exchange of ideas because it will lose every time.

Wow, the harpy network

Wow, the harpy network actually failed? Who didn't see that coming(other than the harpies, that is)?

Jane

Jane who?

That would be this Jane:

Jane who?

I got this in a email.

"Dinner in Montana
This is one of the best thing I've read in ages!!!!!  I
wish I could go there for dinner!!!!
Montana Restaurant:
This is a great story! The radio station America FM was
doing one of its "Is Anyone Listening?" bits this morning. The first
question was, "Ever have a celebrity pull up with the 'Do you know who I am?' routine?"
A woman called in and said that a few years a go, while
visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings, MT, she had occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant that does not take reservations. The wait was about 45 minutes; many ranchers and their wives were waiting.
Ted Turner and his ex-wife Jane Fonda came in the
restaurant and wanted a table. The hostess informed them that they'd have to wait 45 minutes. Jane Fonda asked the hostess, "Do you know who
I am?" The hostess answered, "Yes, but you'll have to wait 45 minutes. "
Then Jane asked if the manager was in. When the manager came out, he asked, "May I help you?" "Do you know who we are?" both Ted and Jane asked. "Yes, but these folks have been waiting, and I can't put you ahead of them."
Then Ted asked to speak to the owner. The owner came
out, and Jane again asked, "Do you know who I am?" The owner answered,
"Yes, I do. Do you know who I am? I am the owner of this restaurant and
I am a Vietnam Veteran.  Not only will you not get a table ahead of my friends and neighbors who have been waiting here, but you also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any night. Good bye."
Only in America - what a great country.
To all who received this e-mail, this is a true story
and the name of the steak house is:
Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse, 204 W. Main, Manhattan

If you ever get there, give this fellow a sharp salute,
buy a steak, and tip the waitress. Keep passing this on.  We should
never forget our national traitor! And let's not forget what "our gal"

Hillary said to the troops in Iraq , "This war has no support from the
American public."" End

I still get a kick out of it.

 When a drunken godless

When a drunken godless moonbat  like Ted Turner won't even listen to you anymore Jane why the hell would anybody else?

"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious. "

Why dontcha' ya know

Why dontcha' ya know Silence is Golden when it comes to any failure of the leftists....

That is until they can find a way to blame it on the right!

Cry Me A River Fonda & Friends!

I LMAO when I heard about this today....still smiling too....

Love to read about her

Love to read about her failure... but, I am offended just seeing her face in public!

Fonda farefonda

There are always excuses for bad programming and it usually blames the audience.

Fonda has no talent, is boring, bland and bland and boring.

There is no market for fake christian liberals as the 2 in existence are Fonda and Hillary...the rest are non Christians and they don't want to hear and old byrd with her spin.

*HIC IACET ARTORIVS REX QVONDAM REXQVE FVTVRVS

Hanoi Jane now Jihad Jane. how will she betray the U.S A. next?

My brother was serving in Nam whilst she was modeling the latest anti-aircraft wear for the enemy. I will never forget the image of her sitting at the controls of a weapon that, in all probability, had taken American lives, smiling, giggling and talking with her handler. I will never forget or forgive. She shows her true colors every day. She may profess regret, but a traitor, in my estimation, can never be forgiven. I will never understand why she was not charged with treason, for having given aid and comfort to the enemy. Happy Trails...

}}---> Jane Fonda

Maybe we should start tuning to Air America.  Now what's Jane gonna do?  Run for Senate?

~LYDSEXICS UNTIE!~

So, Hanoi Jane can't get

So, Hanoi Jane can't get anyone to carry her radio "network". Well, forgive me if I don't give a crap about someone who contributed to the death and further torture (REAL torture) of US servicemen in Vietnam. She should be tried for treason, she should always be asked about her dis-service to this nation, and she should never again be allowed to white-wash the vile, disgusting, abhorent, and unforgivable things she has done.  She IS the Left. She IS the Democrat Party. She IS why I will never ever vote (D).

Read and try not to be sickened by it:

The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat. In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF
Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison
the 'Hanoi Hilton.' Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell,
cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was
ordered to describe for a visiting American
'Peace Activist' the 'lenient and humane
treatment' he'd received. He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was
dragged away.
During the subsequent beating, he fell forward
on to the camp Commandant 's feet, which
sent that officer berserk. In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from
double vision (which permanently ended his
flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied
application of a wooden baton. From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the
47FW/DO (F-4E's).  He spent 6 years in the
'Hanoi Hilton',,, the first three of which his
family only knew he was 'missing in action'.
His wife lived on faith that he was still alive.
His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and
clothed routine in preparation for a
'peace delegation' visit.
They, however, had time and devised a plan to
get word to the world that they were alive
and still survived..  Each man secreted a tiny
piece of paper, with his Social Security Number
on it, in the palm of his hand.  When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a
cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each
man's hand and asking little encouraging
snippets like: 'Aren't you sorry you bombed
babies?' and 'Are you grateful for the humane
treatment from your benevolent captors?'
Believing this HAD to be an act, they each
palmed her their sliver of paper.
She took them all without missing a beat.  At the
end of the line and once the camera stopped
rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs,
she turned to the officer in charge and handed
him all the little pieces of paper. Three men died from the subsequent beatings.
Colonel Carrigan was almost number four
but he survived, which is the only reason we
know of her actions that day. I was a civilian economic development advisor
in Vietnam , and was captured by the North
Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in
1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years. I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one
year in a cage in Cambodia ; and one year
in a 'black box' in Hanoi .
My North Vietnamese captors deliberately
poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a
nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South
Vietnam , whom I buried in the jungle near the
Cambodian border.
At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs.
(My normal weight is 170 lbs.)   We were Jane Fonda's 'war criminals.' When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi , I was asked by
the camp communist political officer if I would
be willing to meet with her. I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real
treatment we POWs received... and how
different it was from the treatment purported by
the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as
'humane and lenient.'  Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky
floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched
with a large steel weights placed on my hands,
and beaten with bamboo. I  had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda
soon after I was released.  I asked her
if she would be willing to debate me on TV.
She never did answer me. These first-hand experiences do not exemplify
someone who should be honored as part
of '100 Years of Great Women.'
Lest we forget...' 100 Years of Great Women'
should never include a traitor whose hands are
covered with the blood of so many patriots.  There are few things I have strong visceral
reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in
blatant treason, is one of them.
Please take the time to forward to as many
people as you possibly can.
It will eventually end up on her computer and
she needs to know that we will never forget.

"three men died...

...from the subsequent beatings."

This, as a direct result of that traitorous bitch's act.   Rot in hell, Fonda!

To attach any accuracy or

To attach any accuracy or fairness from something that came from "Media Matters" is laughable. It's nothing but a Clinton mouthpiece so they will of course whitewash a traitorous liberal like Hanoi Jane

Note to the older

Note to the older NB's:

Nobody cares about Jane Fonda.  She hasn't had a single noteworthy accomplishment since I've been on this earth.

Isn't it about time we stopped crying about her Vietnam protests considering they were over 30 YEARS ago?  Time to move on?  I mean, you forgave Strom Thurmon for his avid stance against civil rights (even while he was cultivating his own 'black family').  Wouldn't you think I was lame if I kept bringing that up as an example of the right hating blacks, in the same way as you bring up Fonda as an example of the left hating america?

She's another perfect example of conservatives keeping a wacko in the lime light so they can have a punching bag, ala Rosie.  I mean, the only places she gets attention are conservative blogs.  If you all didn't provide a platform we wouldn't have to listen to her speak.

Childishly, liberals believe history begins with their birth

There is no statute of limitation for traitors.

In spite of your typically disingenuous attempt to downplay her actions, Fonda's behavior went far beyond "protests."

Leon I am a viet vet. I

Leon

I am a viet vet. I am not forgetting her or her ilk and what they did. I hope she rots in hell. You can join her if you wish. Because your true colors are showing. One more thing, liberals have no sense of history. Anything over two weeks old is very hard for them to remember. Liberalism is a form of ADD.

Yeah that's true

Yeah that's true ahusser.

You should def. blame the people that protested the disasterous war that led to the death of 50,000 (!!!!) Americans instead of the people that sent you over there based on a lie (i.e. Gulf of Tonkin).

That makes a lot of sense.

Leon Last I checked the

Leon

Last I checked the people who sent us there were Democrats. And I decided to serve my country not run away like the cowards who unfortunately are now in charge. You don't have to totally agree with everything to serve. Believe me, because you are apparently too young too remember (because Vietnam happened more than 2 weeks ago), the whiny left and their minions in the media lost that war (we won the battles of Hue and Tet yet the MSM of that day turned those battles into defeats) and because of our usual lack of resolve, millions of Vienamese were killed and "re-educated". Jane Fonda was the poster child for the left, the Cindy Sheehan of her day. I am not talking about a lie that may have gotten us started in that war but the traitorous acts, gone unpunished, by someone who should be confronted with those facts the rest of her life and she should always be reminded of what she did every day of her remaining useless life.

I don't believe the

I don't believe the American military lost a single engagement in Vietnam.  Not one.  This was a war that was clearly lost on American soil.  Our soldiers did their job and we as a country failed them.  If there is one thing that I grieve over about America is its lack of resolve.  We, as a society, are blown and tossed by the winds.

And our enemies know this about us.

Ahusser, You're right

Ahusser,

You're right again.

We lost entirely because of the MSM.

It had nothing to do with the fact that our strengths were negated in jungle warfare or that we were fighting people in an inhospitable environment on their turf or our 350,000 casualties

Leon, I agree with your

Leon, I agree with your Fonda/Thurmond analogy.  I'm sick of hearing about both of them.

As for your decription of the war... that's another issue.  There are lots of people who think Vietnam resulted in nothing more than 50,000 guys getting killed and us having to pull out, which are both true statements from a tactical perspective.  Since the rest of us measure success in strategic terms, Vietnam was a huge success.

The strategy of the Soviet Union was to expand communism as far and as fast as possible after WWII.  They tried to capitalize on the disrupted state of post-war Europe by trying to take Greece, then Germany.  When Europe proved too hard to take, the Soviets went after the "lower-hanging fruit" in Asia.  They miscalculated in Korea, and true to Soviet doctrine, they tried a second time in Vietnam.  While the Soviets ultimately won, they were forced to expend billions of rubles and hard currency, directly and through proxies, to gain control of a country that had little to yield in the way of industry, natural resources, etc.  Their goal had been to start migrating Communism through Asia, to gain control of powerhouses like Japan, Taiwan, the Phillipines, where they would have access to industry, resources, and be able to better project power against the U.S.  Instead they got control of a lot of rice, poor people, and renegade egomaniacs like Pol Pot.  As a result of this "victory", the Soviets decided that if they were going to expend resources to expand their empire, it would be somewhere with a better return on investment... like Central America.

If we had not challenged the Soviets in Vietnam, and allowed them to gain control of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, etc., without a high cost, it is most certain that the Soviets would have tried to expand into Taiwan, Japan, Phillipines, Singapore, etc., and we would have been forced into a major war (likely ending with mushroom clouds) or forced to ceed the Pacific rim to them.  This is why I just feel sorry for people who like to think they know what they are talking about when they say that Vietnam was a wasted effort.

}}---> Did not Leon

I don't forgive Strom Thurmond for his total capitulation to hypocrisy, nor his switch from Democrat to Dixiecrat to Republican.

I don't respect the Republicans welcoming him any more than I respect the Dems for keeping Robert Byrd.

The old POS Thurmond needed to die 50 years sooner than he did.

Jane with AA crew

Ahh what part of protest was that?Do you think making happy with a NVA AA unit is ok?It is treason plain and simple. In this country you have a right to peaceful protest. You dont have the right to give aid and support to the enemy.

Who forgave Strom Thumond? Why dont you post their names.Just a note:whose adminstration was wiretapping Martin Luther King?Which Attorney General? Was that a Republican president?

Leon, in a word, NO! I will

Leon, in a word, NO! I will forgive fonda when she is dead. She should have already been hung for treason.

Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!

BASSNDUDE

you sound like you're one of the "three million".

one of the three million guys that swore on separation that they would never stand in line again except to p*&& on jane fondas' grave.

(you have to have raised your right hand and sworn, to get the delecate nuances of the last sentance.)

PK, yep! That would be me

PK, yep! That would be me alright. But I would also stand in line again to pistol whip the little trollop.

Save a SeAL, club a liberal!!

Crying? About Hanoi Jane? Ha!

Whenever that hosebags name comes up...I think of my brother in Nam. Caint help it as I am a Banjo Pickin' inbred retard. Right?

Soon you will discover that 30 years is not that long a period of time. That to comes with maturity.

I/we need a punching bag? Your immaturity is showing Leon. We'll give you a few decades to figure out that history is relevant. When you pose on an enemy Anti-aircraft weapon and smile and giggle for the enemy...that goes way beyond any protest. If you can't see that...it's because you don't want to or lack the maturity to see it for what it is. Treason. Nothing more and nothing less.  However I do not obsess over it...when her name comes up...I remember her for what she is.

We provide her a platform? How? I don't get that one. And just so you know...I never forgave ole Strom for squat. Bigotry sucks in any form. That is not a right or left issue.

And no-one is holding up Fonda as and example of how the left hates America. I'm sure that she loves America. She just happens to be an idiot. Us "Older NBers" simply remember the traitorous acts of this sorry excuse for an American and will not forgive a traitor. It doesn't matter how long ago she betrayed her country...the fact remains that she did so and received no punishment. That kinda pissed me off. Happy Trails...oh...and that's from Roy Rogers in case you missed his shows.

Fairness Doctrine

Don't worry... the Fairness Doctrine will force Fonda's show back on the airwaves. :(

"This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it."

-- Fred Thompson as Admiral Josh Painter (The Hunt for Red October)

The MRC link has Fonda

The MRC link has Fonda saying the following at the time the announcement was made - "In order to know how to program for your audience, you have to look like your audience. You have to live like your audience, you have to empathize with your audience and men just don't know how to do it so this is the first all-women-owned, women-managed radio."

Square that with the announcement above - "We developed fabulous shows, but we were not successful getting station carriage. Perhaps it was because we were ignorantly perceived as being too “feminist” or too “political."

First, let's ignore the laughable statement that Jane Fonda "lives like" her audience.  We all know that's a bunch of crock.

Second, if it's considered as being "too feminist", then it is that way because of Fonda and the others who hosted the show because, after all, they were in control of the programming.

They don't want to face the fact that what they are selling no one wanted to buy.
