Bashing McCain on Russia, AP Fails to Disclose Dem Analyst's Ties

This is so typical.

John McCain's chief foreign policy adviser and his business partner lobbied the senator or his staff on 49 occasions in a 3 1/2-year span while being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by the government of the former Soviet republic of Georgia.

Yes, it is the same talking point Obama and the Russians have been using all week.

This time they kicked it up a notch with a law professor, Stephen Gillers, willing to comment:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

"Scheunemann's work as a lobbyist poses valid questions about McCain's judgment in choosing someone who — and whose firm — are paid to promote the interests of other nations," said New York University law professor Stephen Gillers. "So one must ask whether McCain is getting disinterested advice, at least when the issues concern those nations."

They fail to mention that Gillers is a noted leftist who has gave over $1,000.00 to one time New York Senate candidate Mark Green who is now the president of Air America. Likewise, he gave to Lynn Yeakel, the liberal Democrat who ran against Arlen Specter in 1992.

Four years ago Gillers called on John Kerry to name Bill Clinton as his running mate. The humor in this abounds, given that two years later, Gillers was writing satire for the Nation (he's written for the leftist oriented magazine on a number of occasions) suggesting Bush would suspend this year's election to "do whatever it takes to protect us from terror."

Gillers is your typical left-wing professor. He claims to be an ethics professor, but apparently has no ethical qualms with giving allegedly unbiased advice on McCain when he will no doubt actively oppose McCain.

But the Associated Press saw no need to mention any of this or to question the objectivity of Gillers's advice.

Georgia

Isn't it as plain as the nose on you face?

Lefties try to equate the Russian envasion with an advisor for Mc Cain?

Hell thay don't care how many people Russia kills, just so they can bash McCain or bush.

Besides this being a totaly biased viewpoint

Their criticism of McCain makes no sense because McCain is definitely anti-Russian in terms of the Georgia issue and has been from the very beginning. If there was the problem with his adviser that they are implying, then McCain should be decidedly pro-Russia.

Once again the liberals put forth  an argument that is illogical and full of cognitive dissonance.

Meanwhile Obama is showing just how naive and clueless he is about foreign policy. He has proven that he is incapable of analyzing a situation for himself and must be 'briefed' before he makes any sense.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

?????

Huh??? McCain's advisor was paid by the Republic of Georgia, not Russia. Why would that make McCain pro-Russia?

Now, understand, I think this is a non issue, as McCain has never been one to trust Russia from way back. He saw this coming.

Oops.

Read the article too fast apparently and only comprehended the former Soviet part, missed the "republic of Gerogia" part.

Oh well... Never mind about the cognitive dissonance part, at least this time. I think I feel some coming on at the moment.

Don't worry. The msm will give you plenty of opportunities in the future to point out their lack of reason and understanding. :)

Amazing. This particular

Amazing. This particular story has been going around for days: John McCain's senior foreign policy advisor is a paid agent of a foreign government.

And yet this article, just posted, is the first you've heard of it.

And your reading comprehension skills? Are you legally qualified to vote?

You come across as such an expert on foreign policy; it just goes to show you ... You're trolling from the bottom of the deck.

Logic, common sense, and

Logic, common sense, and intelligence are not common traits in Barack Hussein supporters and nearly all dimocrats.

Dear cocodrie, Just so

Dear cocodrie,

Just so you know, you keep spelling the word "democrat" wrong. You spell it D I M O C R A T. Check your dictionary.

P.S. -- I agree with almost everything else that you say, but as a teacher, I just can't let sloppy spelling     slide :)

Everyone!

2 and 2 has just been put together....

Flashking, yup, is a teacher.

Makes it all clear now. Like Muslims infesting Europe, Liberals infest academia.

Hey Shy

I'm still waiting.

When you put 2 and 2 together, what do you feeeeel the answer should be?

Enquiring minds have already established what happens when you put 1 and 1 together, but John Edwards feeeels the answer is different.

feelings

We don't need straight math. We need to discuss how this problem makes us feel and how the government can solve it.

candance & cool

I'm afraid I'm not "compassionate" enough to answer these questions. And feelings? What is this? I've heard this word before. I just want to make money, stay ignorant, and hate anything that's not white or heterosexual or deeply Christian in faith.

Btw, is Candance & Cool a new hip-hop group? :p

Vulcan Brainwashing

Good Shy - I see the brainwashing has taken hold. You'll never feel emotions again. From now on you are cold and calculating. You will have a poster of Montgomery Burns hanging in your office and a photo of Alex Keaton on your nightstand. Your lifelong ambition will be skimming profits off the backs of the working poor by lobbying Congress to cover for you and then blowing up the rain forest in search of diamonds.

[Must stop before I create a whole story here.]

Your other lifelong ambition will be starting a file on how many debates flash has abandoned.

candance

:)

"Fascinating, Candance....." (one eyebrow goes up beneath a bowl-cut hairdo.)

I'll need to figure out how to profit immensely from that second lifelong ambition :p and keep those profits, because I'm a sick, greedy, evil, nature-hating Neocon.

yeah!!

Cause we're not just cons around here - we're neocons. There's a big difference you know.

You don't want to be like the cons. Those people are all posers and wanna bes. Losers!

Neocons are the future. We have laissez faire domestic policy and, as a bonus, we get to invade random countries for oil!

(PS - I like the narration with the eyebrow)

flushking, bet you, a'hem, "teach" in a guv'mint skool, too.

And if it isn't, it's a Muslim private school, which is almost as bad.  :-)

Hmmm. Looks to me like the definition of a Madrasa is.... a Muslim private school. Okay, publicly-funded? privately? Who knows. Either way, hardly a dopey thing to call it.

So, McCain has been

So, McCain has been attacked for first coming out too rigid on Russia, now he's in their back pocket?

Not that I want Obama to win, but it would be amusing (for a moment) to see what they would do without being able to reflexively blame Bush.

Funny story - Paul Harvey once said the last time there was fighting in "that" Georgia and it was all over the news, some poor woman in Florida called 911 because she was worried the fighting would spill over the border into her state!!!!!!!

Must have been a Dem supporter.

you're right Steve

We were talking about that tonight. As soon as Dems are in a position where they can't blame a Republican, they're quick to erase those things from public memory.

so what??

Georgia is our ally, aren't they? We're supposed to be on their side in this, aren't we? It really doesn't matter to me that someone in Georgia feels the need to lobby McCain.

Why aren't they talking about Bill Ayers lobbying Obama? Doesn't that "say something about his judgement?"

Be still my beating heart

Be still my beating heart -- Candance, You Are A Great American!

When did Bill Ayers lobby Obama?

sorry flash

Ayers spent money on Obama's campaign in Chicago.

I never make things up.

Lobbying is not the same as

Lobbying is not the same as donating.

oh excuse me

Giving money explicitly to a politician's campaign as you schmooze with him at an upscale dinner party...you're right, that totally does not sound like lobbying.

Lap Dogs

When the democrats Lame Stream Media lap dogs attack you can start looking for something rotten in the democrat party. 100% of the time they are covering up for some crime, or other acts that offend the morals of the average American. They are so open about it now that they have lost the right to be called a 'news' organization. Other than 30 minutes of local news none of the Lame Stream Media outlets are ever on in my home. Why anyone wants to spend their time sorting the 1% truth from the 99% lies is beyond my tiny brain.

One would think the advertisers would figure out that most Americans (conservatives who work) who are able to buy things don't watch the Lame Stream Media so advertising on them is a waste of money.
