Alligators In The Moat? 'I'm Game', Says Congressman

By Eric Scheiner | May 13, 2011 | 11:29

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) has made a video to go along with a letter to President Obama, in which Walsh expresses his concern over the president’s recent comments on immigration.

“For years President Obama has said he is serious about dealing with America’s immigration issues, however, yesterday [in a speech in El Paso, Texas] he reinforced the idea that he’s not taking the issue seriously by suggesting that the only way to make Republicans happy on the subject is to build ‘a moat’.

“Time and time again, President Obama has proven that he’s more concerned with photo-ops with Hollywood movie stars, than real citizens who live on the border and have to deal with America’s exploding immigration crisis,” Walsh said in a news release.

“Border security is national security. It’s not a joking matter. Enforcing our immigration laws and holding businesses accountable for hiring illegal immigrants is a serious issue. For that reason, I have sent the President a letter, questioning his commitment to securing our borders."

In the letter, Walsh urges Obama to get serious about the issue of illegal immigration, “If it takes moats and alligators to secure our borders to get you to be serious – I’m game.”

In addition to the letter, Rep. Walsh's office has made a video and posted it on the congressman's YouTube channel.

I agree with you on that.

I agree with you on that. Alligators need a large area to hunt. We couldn't put that many out there.

I think obama has created a ready made mascot for the Secure the Border supporters.  The alligator should become the symbol of resistance to open borders.

On Immigration - Obama is not the populist

  • Walsh urges Obama to get serious about the issue of illegal immigration

The conservatives need to understand here that they hold the "populist" high ground on the issues of illegal immigration enforcement and reform - President Obama does not.

From the progressive Pew Center for the People and the Press polling (no, you did not see this on the nightly news, nor in your paper):

  • Seventy-three percent said they backed a measure requiring people to produce documents verifying their legal status if police ask for them..
  • while 67% approve of allowing police to detain anyone who cannot verify that they are in the country legally.

The survey also found:

  • that only 25% supported Obama's handling of immigration policy, while 54% said they disapproved.

Mr. President - Your popular support only exists in the national MSM, and amongst the radical left.  You do not have the support of the people - the voters - the taxpayers.

Here's what questions from the press to Obama should be:

  • Make believe reporter on Meet the Press: Mr. President, with only 25% support for your immigration agenda, how can you continue to sit there and act so arrogant in your demands that the Republicans jump in and join you in your effort to destroy America?

If only...

I've already presented a business plan to my bosses to capture, breed and employ alligators in moats across the SW border region.
