Hey, did you know that "when one thinks of voter fraud, one usually associates it with the GOP?" That's what U.S. News's Bonnie Erbe's lead-in is in her online article today picked up by CBS news online. (NOTE: I initially indicated Erbe wrote for CBS. CBS actually picked up Erbe's US News article. I regret the error. -- DS Hube.) In an otherwise balanced story regarding Barack Obama's ties to the group ACORN, Erbe really thinks she's speaking for the "everyman" in her absurd first paragraph:
Hate to say it, but when one thinks of voter fraud, one usually associates it with the GOP, the 2000 election, and the debate over who won Florida. You remember, voting machines that didn't work, long lines to vote in predominantly Democratic districts, and recounts that weren't accurate.
Do you first think of the GOP engaging in voter fraud in Florida back in 2000 when that very term -- "voter fraud" -- is raised? Or, is it largely a ... [mainstream] media creation?
Does "vote early and vote often" ever enter your mind? To Erbe and the MSM, that probably isn't the case; after all, it's associated with Obama's hometown's former mayor, Democrat Richard Daley. What about in 1960 and how LBJ "helped" get Texas in JFK's corner (not to mention Daley again and his Chicago political "machine")? Nah. Democrats. And these meager two [in]famous mentions don't even include how innumerable conservatives and Republicans believe that in Florida during election 2000 it was Democrats who were engaged in voter fraud -- selective recounts in Democrat-heavy counties, varying and subjective [re]counting standards, and even demanding "revotes" to make up for that ridiculous (and Democrat-designed!) "butterfly ballot."
The "one" Erbe refers to in her opener is much more likely "one" in Erbe's circle of pals. And, does she really "hate to say it" about the GOP being first thought of with regards to vote fraud? Really?

And having CBS lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie and lie some more.
I wonder how the people at CBS came up with the idea that most folks feel its the GOP that commits voter fraud, when they present no polls to back it up, and it is clear that the country is equally divide to boot. And how does CBS manage to squirm out of Democrat sponsored voter fraud invetigations in 12 states and 4 majore convictions of ACCORN. And how does CBS squirm out of the major investigation that money earmarked for helping the poor get housing was used to "bring out the vote."
By CBS' lack of proof standard, I could use the same lack of proof and say all the executives at CBS rape little girls and boys, that is, if I used the same standard CBS uses. Of course its not true what I just said, but that is how outrageous their claims are about the GOP. And tomorrow night we have a CBS reporter as moderator?
Know why the majority does not watch CBS? Could it have anything to do with journalism that minics a Communist Broadcasting System?
CBS, in my opinion, is a disgrace to America, hates America, does not deserve America and its otherwise just plain liars.

Nothing but a mainstream media creation, as you said. If they would report ACORN properly and tell viewers what ACORN is all about when it comes to elections, then people would be able to much more easily understand where voter fraud is most prevalent.
I guess if people aren't allowed to register at the poll, in the booth, 2 seconds before actually casting a vote, and register 50 times, and register under all kinds of names, then whoever is trying to stop all that nonsense is simply trying to suppress minority voting. And it's always framed like that - minorities being prevented from voting by evil Republicans. Anything to ensure that they keep as many minorities (i.e. "black people" in most cases) on the Democrat voter rolls.
Bunch of idiots. They don't care about "fair" elections. They care about "fair to the liberal" elections. Principles? What principles?

Voter fraud. Well, that's because the MSM
October 14, 2008 - 20:02 ET by Gary HallVoter fraud. Well, that's because the MSM contributes so much to voter fraud. The MSM never reported any aspect of the 2000 election fairly. They decided almost hourly for weeks, not to report on the news coming out that would have informed the public about the facts. They were not interested in investigative reporting - to uncover the truth on the issues, becasue they only wanted Gore to win.
To this day, most Democrats have not heard that the Democrats were behind a telemarketing company in TX which was calling thousands of West Palm Beach voters convincing them that their vote may not have counted - on election day.
To this, day most Democrats believe that the Bush camp had set up police road blocks to keep blacks from voting. Goodness, it's so easy to find out the truth; I picked up the phone and called the FL Attorney General (Gore's campaign chair in FL) and he laughed at the false news stories.
To this day, most Democrats (and probably Republicans) do not know - because our MSM's agenda does not support this recomendation - that the solution to most voter fraud was kept from the broad public view, and out of the national disucssion on how to solve the problems:
In 2005, as a result of the 2000 Presidental Election controversy, Jimmy Carter and James Baker co-chaired a bipartisan Commission on Federal Election Reform. Their reccomendations?
I bet ACORN didn't like the sound of that. Neither does our left wing MSM. That's why they don't bring it up - that would make folks stand up and demand it.
Another joint observation from Carter/Baker earlier this year:
And from the WSJ's John Fund in April of this year:
Gary, you forgot us!
October 14, 2008 - 20:07 ET by Indiana JoeIIRC, it was a Democrat organization that brought the suit against Indiana's voter ID law that ended up being upheld by SCOTUS.

Magniloquent Stratospheric Media
October 14, 2008 - 20:21 ET by wdhorningYou are so right. With fair and honest elections, the votes around the country would be so different.
But the Democrats and MSM do not want this. But why not? Can you fathom the MSM saying, in effect, we do not want to insure fair and balanced elections? Of course not. However, that's what they pushed and promoted so that now we see voter registration and voter fraud is now running amuck across the country.
This time the Supreme Court should order all elections halted until such time as all fraud can be virtually eliminated. No assured fairness, then nobody's votes are counted. And to be fair, Pres Bush can even be replaced on a temporary basis in January until new elections can be held and the new elected President steps in.

October 14, 2008 - 20:03 ET by Indiana JoeJust when you think you've heard it all.... You only hear about Democrats having "get out the vote" drives that pay people to vote, give them rides, multiple voting, "early" voting (the new rage), registering dead people, and as you say, the infamous Florida re-count. Since SCOTUS didn't side with the Democrats on that one, I'd say that's a pretty good indication that they were flouting the law. Unless "one" wants to argue that SCOTUS regularly rules against the word of the law.
Geez, now can we use the old "I'm rubber, you're glue" defense? Because that's the only one that seems appropriate when dealing with this kind of childish denial.

Hanging chads & dimples proved Democrat fraud in FL, 2000
October 14, 2008 - 20:11 ET by wdhorningIn some districts in Florida, in the 2000 election, there were not even enough Republican monitors at some polling places or even if there were, the Democrats were handing 2-3 punch cards at a time to their known Democrat friends. Then they would go into the voting both, slide 2-3 cards in the slide box (to hide what they were doing) and then try to punch through 2-3 cards simultaneously for Al Gore, but that proved difficult due to the increased thickness, resulting frequently in only dimples and hanging chads. And if the cards could not slide in, they would try to put them on top making it even more difficult, since the cards would now have alignment issues and be curled to boot.
True, hanging chads and dimples can occur in single cards, but it is far less likely.
Bottom line: the shear number dimples and hanging chads proves that there was voter fraud, and since these hanging chads and dimples were found in predominately Democrat locations, it was even clearer that Democrats were the culprits
PS: the MSM missed this because of their stupidity or the knew and it as a conspiracy.
MSM = Missing Smarts Media
Besides this, Al Gore's lawyers fought military absentee ballots in court. In the end the courts said count the votes. Had they been counted, because of the voter trends in the military of 2:1 for Republicans, Bush would have gotten another 2000 votes and Gore another 1000 votes, meaning that if we assume that about an equal number of chads and dimples went to both candidates, then Bush did not beat Gore by about 500 votes, but 1500 votes in Florida.
The only reason these votes were not counted was because of the Supreme Court decision. So had Gore and his Democrat voters gotten their way, Bush would have won by even another 1000 votes.

How in hell can Republicans commit fraud when most of the voting operations, throughout the U.S., are controlled by Democrats? This is, once again, the Goebbels propaganda theory, being played out by the MSM. Obama and Acorn are obviously setting the plate for some massive voter fraud, in the swing states, and instead of concentrating on that, we have the media wing, of the Democratic Party, putting out the word that voting fraud is associated with Republicans. October 14, 2008 - 22:33 ET by Copperhead Ridge"Hate to say it, but when one thinks of voter fraud, one usually associates it with the GOP, the 2000 election, and the debate over who won Florida."
It's pretty amazing how Republicans pulled off voter fraud in counties run and populated by Democrats. I want to hear or read someone explain how the GOP pulled off voter fraud in those counties. I know how it is done, and it takes complicity on the part of someone running the damned election in most cases. Everyone says this about Florida in 2000, but no one can seem to explain the charge very well.
I guess I should explain that I do not participate in vote fraud or electioneering. Through my profession, which requires an understanding of how elections are run, I've learned how it is done out of neccessity.
I don't associate voter fraud with the GOP. Vote fraud is and always has been the purview of the Democrat party my state (Kentucky). Whip out the ouija board and ask Edward F. Pritchard. Hell, they later made him head of an educational commission after he was busted for stuffing ballot boxes in Bourbon County.
They stole the 1994 gubernatorial election by holding back precincts in Louisville that used optical scan ballots.
I sometimes eat lunch with an old vote fixer. He's a Democrat. By the way, it takes and Apache to catch an Apache -- no offense to Apaches. I don't mean to equate them with Democrats, which is synonymous with election corruption.
The sickening irony is that it's the left which is trying to destroy the election process in this nation. CBS ignores it. ACORN and other groups are not just trying to get their little acorn in the White House. That's just a bonus for what they're actually trying to do. They want to make the process to seem so corrupt that it needs reform.
They have just the answer, too. They want to federalize elections.
Conservatives must wake up. They need to either take back their party or start their own. Then, they must organize to counter groups like ACORN before they destroy every institution in this nation. It is their long term mission. The election of Barack Obama is a tactic in their overall strategy.

October 14, 2008 - 22:50 ET by needle“when one thinks of voter fraud, one usually associates it with the GOP?"
No doubt Bonnie Erbe understandably came to this conclusion after checking with everybody in the CBS news room.
Whenever I think back to the 2000 election in Florida I remember that CBS deliberately put about the lie SEVERAL TIMES just after 6:00PM EST that “the polls where closed in Florida.”
It would have been sufficient to mention it just once if it were true; but in fact it was false because Florida’s western panhandle which is heavily Republican was on CST; accordingly the polls there were open for another hour (i.e., until 6:00PM CST). The purpose of repeating this lie several times was to convince late voters in the panhandle area that it was too late for them to vote. Voting dropped off significantly as a result of this lie, which cost the Republican ticket an estimated 10,000 vote margin.
It turned out this fraud on the part of CBS [and the other members of the alphabet networks, which were also in on the scheme,] was crucial to making the contest much closer than it should have been. (Is there anyone else besides me who finds this incident strongly suggestive of Hillary’s influence in the background?)
When I think of voter fraud, this maneuver by CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN always jumps prominently to mind.
Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

October 14, 2008 - 23:05 ET by Ole_SargeWait, that's been done, in a number of places....
CBS doesn't want to report the news that in SEVERAL different surveys over the past 8 years, the GOP was not the number one choice to the question, "Which political party is more likely to commit or condone elections fraud?"
Vote fraud is associated with liberals and 'community organizers
