Ann Coulter Previews New Illegal Immigration Book; ‘This Is the One Debate You Cannot Hear in America’

May 28th, 2015 6:23 PM

New York Times best-selling author Ann Coulter stopped by Sean Hannity’s eponymous Fox News Channel (FNC) show on Wednesday night to preview her upcoming book Adios America and slammed both the government and news media for failing to provide “basic information about the people they are bringing into this country in order to change it into a direction that is more favorably disposed to vote for the Democrats.”

At various points in the interview, Hannity asked Coulter about her appearance on Fusion’s America with Jorge Ramos to which Coulter decried the lack of media attention that her book has been receiving and joked that Ramos was “a Mexican willing to do a job no American will do: interview Ann Coulter.”

In comparison to other issues like abortion and the Iraq War, Coulter declared that illegal immigration is the one issue where “you cannot hear both sides of the immigration debate” and stated that, with her book, she’s “just asking for a debate.”

On the topic of how many illegal immigrants come from cultures that are different from that of many Americans, Coulter outlined her belief as to why their backgrounds are less successful than others:

Some cultures are successful. Obviously, ours is massively successful. We're bringing in people from backward primitive cultures and then expecting them to just, you know, turn into middle class Americans with hundreds of years of a cultural history behind it. No. We are bringing in people with very different traditions, which I go into great detail in in my book[.]

Near the end of the interview, Hannity asked Coulter about Republicans who “won’t close the border.” In response, Coulter blasted them as “just idiots” for failing to recognize that “[t]hey will win elections for the next five years and then it will be nothing but a Democratic country and we will have the Nancy Pelosi party and the Chuck Schumer party.”

The relevant portions of the transcript from FNC’s Hannity on May 28 are transcribed below.

SEAN HANNITY: So you go on – I know Jorge. He’s been on this show many times.

COULTER: I love Jorge. I salute Jorge. I finally found a Mexican willing to do a job no American will do: interview Ann Coulter.

HANNITY: Oh my god.

COULTER: I have an explosive book on the number one topic in the country. I’ve written ten New York Times bestsellers. Will ABC, CBS have me on? Oh, no, no, no. It's like I'm a blogger. So, go Jorge Ramos. We had a great debate. I – we completely disagreed, but at least he cares about getting ratings and – I hope he’s getting a lot of publicity...

(....)

COULTER: But one big part of this, this is the one debate you cannot hear in America. You can hear both sides of the abortion debate. Both sides of global warming. Both sides of the Iraq War. You cannot hear both sides of the immigration debate and I'm just asking for a debate.

(....)

COULTER: I mean – as I begin – it goes – went up today by saying and one of the many things I love about my new love, Jorge Ramos, is that he ended the interview by asking me the question that I tweeted out last week that I think all authors should be asked because most books are a compilation of everything the average news consumer already know – knew, but here, we’ve collected it for you in this little book you can use as a coaster on your coffee table now. My books aren't that. I research my own books. I write my own books. This was not the original topic of my book. This was the third topic and how did I end up here? Because I – and during the course of my research, you can't just send some research assistant to find out something you already knew and you need the footnote for it. No, I look it all up myself and discovered how much information is being hidden from the American public and that drove crazy...

(....)

COULTER: Some cultures are successful. Obviously, ours is massively successful. We're bringing in people from backward primitive cultures and then expecting them to just, you know, miraculously turn into middle class Americans with hundreds of years of a cultural history behind it. No. We are bringing in people with very different traditions, which I go into great detail in my book, including –

HANNITY: But many people have come from Mexico that are well-acclaimed, hard working tax-paying Americans, came in legally and they are a part of our society and doing great.

COULTER: Yes and many haven't and that –

HANNITY: And that's what you're talking about?

COULTER: Not only that, it is the – not only the media coverup, which is massive, but the government coverup. Not giving us basic information about the people they are bringing into this country in order to change it into a direction that is more favorably disposed to vote for the Democrats. That was the whole purpose of this.

HANNITY: You think this is about voting and building a voting base?

COULTER: Oh, 100%.

HANNITY: But what about the Republicans that won't close the border?

COULTER: Well, they’re just idiots.

HANNITY: Cheap labor?

COULTER: They're going at their short-term interests. They will win elections for the next five years and then it will be nothing but a Democratic country and we will have the Nancy Pelosi party and the Chuck Schumer party.
