Fox’s ‘Rosewood’ Redefines Family as One Woman and Two Men

On Wednesday night’s episode of Fox’s Rosewood, titled “Sudden Death and Shades Deep,” a woman being interrogated in the murder investigation of her boyfriend redefines the definition of family. She tells Detective Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz) she was in a relationship with two men, you see – the deceased and his friend/working partner – and, while she acknowledges that this is weird, hey, it works for them!

Woman: But it's complicated.

Villa: No, no, I think I got it. Izzy left Shades Deep because you cheated on him. He takes you back, goes into business with you, you cheat on him again, and he turns up dead.

Woman: That's not how it happened.

Villa:  Really? Which part did I get wrong?

Woman: I never cheated on Izzy.

Villa: But you did hook up with Sylvester.

Woman: Yes. I didn't cheat on Izzy because he knew about Sylvester. I loved them both.

Villa:  And you expect me to believe that Izzy was just okay with that?

Woman: Yes! He and Sylvester both were. Okay, I know it's weird, but it -- it worked for us. We were a family, and we didn't care what shape it took.

Villa:  But you did care about the money. I mean, in your love triangle, the guy with the most dough turned up dead, and now all that money goes to you.

Woman:  Burn it. If you think my love for Izzy had anything to do with money -- [ Sniffles ] Have you ever been around someone like Izzy? True genius. He was an artist who seemed to have the world revolve around him. Being with Izzy, that's exactly what it felt like.

Liberal Hollywood never misses a chance to promote anything but traditional families. Call me crazy, but, yes, I do think a woman who can’t chose one man so she chooses both – who are friends – is weird.
