An Unfortunate Event: Lemony Snicket Gives $1M to Planned Parenthood

From its perspective, Planned Parenthood has had another unfortunate week, what with congressional hearings making it hard for the media to keep ignoring the videos showing that the nation’s largest abortion mill sells pieces of the babies it kills.

But the unfortunate organization is indeed fortunate in its friends. After Planned Parenthood honcho Cecile Richards testified before Congress on Tuesday, Daniel Handler took to twitter to make an announcement regarding the abortion chain.

Handler, better known by his pen name Lemony Snicket and author of A Series of Unfortunate Events, promised he and wife Lisa Brown would donate a whopping $1 million to Planned Parenthood.

In a statement Handler’s wife said:

"My husband and I have supported Planned Parenthood for years, for obvious reasons: It’s a great organization that has provided top-quality health care for countless women and families in our lives. This year, Planned Parenthood has gone through a series of unfortunate events, and it felt right to make our support more public and more dramatic."

Yes, how unfortunate for the largest baby killing facility in America (who by the way is taking part in criminal activity) face some “negativity.” Considering the organization receives half a billion dollars in taxpayer money, the only unfortunate event here is the poor taxpayer getting ripped off.

Regardless, the generous couple wanted to make their support for organization crystal clear with their “dramatic” donation. According to New York Magazine, both Handler and wife Brown “have been longtime supporters of the women’s-health organization.”

Handler also tweeted out that he and his wife have been fortunate and their good fortune should be shared with a noble cause. (Insert eye roll).

Perhaps supporting an organization that lessens the potential market for his children’s books by 300,000 each year. But if it’s truly noble causes Handler and his wife are after, maybe they should look into an organization that isn’t being investigated for fraudulent, criminal conduct and killing babies for their body parts. Just a thought.
