As a player, Ray Lewis was extremely well known for delivering jarring shots that immediately stopped the forward movement of opposing players. As a media member, now he’s taking shots at the very core of opposition movements.
“As New Jersey's largest city continues to grapple with urban violence, Former NFL player Ray Lewis sent an "urgent" call for residents of the predominantly Black city to "make lives matter."
The former Baltimore Ravens linebacker said while he understands that social conditions for Black people are among the worst nationwide, "it doesn't give people the excuse to kill each other."
"Remove the word black and say 'lives matter,'" he declared, in context of the Black Lives Matter movement. "Stop sending mothers back home empty. You can never replace a mother's child. If we want black lives matter, let's make it matter to us. That's the new call."
Of course, one cannot forget that Ray Lewis was once himself charged with murder, though never convicted, so the source of this statement may seem dubious to some. But regardless of the source, the message of Lewis’ speech is something that in a normal world would be greeted with praise. Actually, check that, in a normal world Lewis would never have to even say that “lives matter.”
Yet, Lewis’ completely reasonable and sensible sentiment was greeted with rage by its target, the BLM movement, which possesses neither reason, nor sense.
Here is a mere sampling of the hate-fest that awaited Lewis on twitter:
Of course, all Ray Lewis did was highlight once again how the BLM movement is not a movement to be negotiated, compromised, or bargained with. The fundamental beginning point of all civilized society is that “lives matter.” Pretty much everything is completely irrelevant and unworkable if you can’t accept that.
Lewis also puts on full display the mind-numbing hypocrisy of a movement that claims to champion the worth of black life while at the same time seemingly only concerned with preventing the death of black people at the hands of the police. Which, although tragic, is a molehill compared to the McKinley...sorry...Denali-sized Mountain which comprises the number of blacks killed by other blacks, and those killed by abortions.
However, one thing is clear: amidst the seed-sowing hate and discontent, BLM has actually accomplished a genuinely impressive and incredible thing…they have made Ray Lewis the voice of reason.
Jesus will be arriving shortly.
