Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump took hits on the CBS drama American Gothic last night. In the first part of the two-part season finale, “Madame X,” Garrett Hawthorne (Antony Starr) has worked out a deal with the police to help them find the Silver Bells serial killer’s accomplice in exchange for a suspended sentence on a manslaughter charge.
Obviously, Garrett is in no position to be asking for favors, a point the detective, Brady (Elliot Knight), drives home by adding Hillary’s emails and Trump’s tax returns to a preposterous wish list.
Garrett: All right, then I need a favor. I need your help to find Christina.
Brady: You serious?
Garrett: Just an address.
Brady: (Scoffs) "Just an address." Sure, Garrett, why not? Uh, you need anything else? Maybe, uh, Hillary's e-mails or Trump's tax returns?
In the end, Brady does deliver a letter to Christina for Garrett, meanwhile, we’re still waiting on Hillary and Trump, which are not exactly equivalent.
Oh, and by the way, the serial killer's motivation is revealed to be revenge against wealthy donors to the hospital for his dying wife supposedly not getting the same care as the rich, VIP patients. Yeah, because the rich are evil and socioeconomics is always a zero sum game.
