ABC's FBI drama Quantico continued it's anti-Israel plotline last night in the episode "Guilty." Simon Asher (Tate Ellington) has already been revealed to be an IDF soldier who did things in Gaza "that haunt me every single day of my life." Last week we saw him talking to an Israeli bomb maker about continuing violence in the West Bank. And now, based upon a new flashback scene, it is looking increasingly likely that Simon will turn out to be the terrorist mastermind who framed Agent Alex Parrish for the bomb that destroyed Grand Central Station in New York City and killed 130 people.
After he anonymously reports that a famed FBI agent falsified a crime scene to nab a serial killer, Simon is shocked to find out he is not supported by his fellow trainees who see the act as a betrayal to the FBI that will set a murderer free. Disillusioned, Simon turns to his bomb-making friend to get a zip drive with the schematics of all New York train stations, presumably this is when he begins to plot the aforementioned Grand Central attack.
In this sequence, Simon tries to justify himself by saying that "Americans think the FBI stands for truth and justice but it's a lie," and that they will do what is easy, not "what is right," while the bomb maker bemoans the world turning its back on Israel and the victims of Islamist terrorism:
Relevant transcript:
-Simon: [Speaking in Hebrew] Americans think the FBI stands for truth and justice but it's a lie.... I'm sick and tired of people hiding behind pragmatism. Behind what’s easy and not doing what is right.
-Bomb maker: [Hebrew] The world turns its back on Israel and Gaza. It turns its back on those suffering at the hands of ISIS, turns its back on Sudan, on Boko Haram.
-Simon: [Hebrew] Did you bring it with you?
I REALLY hope this tired, predictable storyline does not come to fruition, but this is Hollywood, after all...
So, what do you think? Is Quantico getting ready to blame Israel for this act of terror or is this just a red herring before another big twist?
