The Young America's Foundation (YAF) is being threatened with legal action for including Robert Spencer, the author of several books on terrorism and Islam, in its line-up of speakers this week in Washington, D.C.
Spencer spoke Thursday afternoon at George Washington University as part of YAF's 29th National Conservative Student Conference. His topic was entitled "The Truth About the Council on American Islamic Relations." This same organization, CAIR, demanded that YAF either withdraw its invitation to Spencer or take alternative steps to prevent any false remarks from being made.
"We will not be intimidated by radical Islamic thugs," a YAF spokesman said. "Not only will we let Robert Spencer speak, but we will invite even more people to hear him. We are not going to fluctuate the conference just to suit their demands."
So, where's the media outrage at this effort to censor free speech, and where's the New York Times editorial praising the courage of YAF in defending it?

ACLU to the rescue

The media will jump onboard as soon as the ACLU does which should be soon. They will probably make some effort to try and force the YAF to allow CAIR to be allowed to rebut Spencer...in the name of fairness.

August 2, 2007 - 17:48 ET by sarcasmoI'm the ugly dude in glasses drinking what looks like a beer, over on the top right corner, about six inches down & two inches over, or so, on my laptop's screen.
My beverage is actually a delicious "hot" Blenheim ginger ale. That stuff (which is not available in Florida, sigh!) makes a wonderful mixer, and even stands up to Myers Rum. All other ginger ale is totally bland by comparison.

}}--->Diversity and Ron Paul
August 3, 2007 - 05:36 ET by Cool Arrowsarc, likely you'd find less racial diversity in this blog than the pic you linked.
This isn't as much an indictment against the truly Conservative cause as it is a testament to the Liberals' ability to play Lucy holding the football as Charlie Brown rushes up to kick it.
Charlie Brown will never learn to kick until he finds a more reliable holder, but the promises get more convincing with each new season.
Doesn't matter, Charlie's last name could be Poor, Black, Red, or yes, Brown. Lucy's practical joke is the same for all of them.
VPs
August 3, 2007 - 05:48 ET by sarcasmoDr. Paul has said nice things about Mark Sanford, but I like the idea of Walter Williams as a VP candidate instead, assuming we could lure him into wanting the job. Professor Williams' melanin content should be enough, especially when combined with his ideas and clear voice, to annoy all the people who care about race that I'd care to annoy.
From what little I know about him, I like Governor Sanford, too. And Tom Tancredo. They just wouldn't feature the annoying-to-others skin Prof. Williams has, and one of my character-flaws is wanting to infuriate certain people who IMO need to be annoyed.

Walter Williams
August 3, 2007 - 05:58 ET by Cool ArrowWilliams is genuinely entertaining when he guest hosts for Rush. I've been reading him for years.
He's best at bringing out the stinginess of individuals looking for a government fix.
I think he's an excellent choice intellectually, but I don't think Ron Paul would accept the position of VP.
Sorry if you disagree, but IMHO Williams is superior to Paul.
I actually don't really
August 3, 2007 - 06:07 ET by sarcasmoI actually don't really disagree, I'd be happy with a ticket featuring both men in either position. And when you're thinking about a VP, you're really thinking about the top job, since it's a heartbeat away. Williams and Paul both respect the Constitution, which should make for a refreshing Presidency after decades of statists IMO. And with the right candidate, like Walter Williams instead of any of the wannabes we've discussed elsewhere, I think you might be surprised what Ron Paul would do.
And as I've said, the bonus we'd get aside from Williams' obvious intellect is that he'd upset exactly the people I want to upset in both the "major" parties with all that melanin. I wonder what my life would be like, if I actually cared about race even half as much as others apparently do?

}}--->But Race is important
August 3, 2007 - 06:16 ET by Cool ArrowIt's important because we interact every day with people whose connection to diversity is "I work with them, and we get along fine." That just means we can be peacable with each other.
But we rarely sit one on one and speak honestly.
We serve the same God but congregate in different churches.
Our kids are certainly better at accepting each other than we are.

August 3, 2007 - 06:27 ET by sarcasmoI'm lucky enough to work at a company where race truly seems not to matter to everyone, among some incredibly smart people of all races. And I've gone to Church with them, and enjoyed it a lot. I plan to go again soon. We can even speak honestly on issues of race, and we share interests such as the FL-history slave cabin archaeology I mentioned yesterday. But as I said, I'm very lucky, and I know we're not your average workplace.
We go through plenty of what we might consider annoying stuff, but stupid race issues simply don't exist AFAIK so we just get to be friends & don't have to put up with that. It's probably one of the reasons we're all staying, despite the government's lurid accusations and their BS lawyer-welfare-case, as well as the news media's abject cluelessness & disinterest (when they're not being overtly biased!) regarding same.

August 3, 2007 - 06:56 ET by Cool ArrowWe're so steeped in corporate induced diversity we're afraid to discuss our differences.
Admittedly such discussion is officially promoted, but fear of stepping over the line is prevalent.

You're not an idiot, but I
August 3, 2007 - 05:08 ET by sarcasmoYou're not an idiot, but I can assure you that you do have a faulty memory if you think Dr. Paul has EVER said ANYTHING pro-UN on C-SPAN, and in the irony-department, you ought to research & consider the CFR "qualifications" of some of the "major" Republican candidates, something only that "hate publication" WorldNetDaily has done so far AFAIK, among all the news media. But let's not argue.
Instead, I have a suggestion or 2 about all this for fans of other Republican candidates that'll probably work better than constantly-whinging about Ron Paul around here, or even feebly-trying to paint him with the brush of his weirdest supporters: Copy us instead.
Get excited about Thompson (Fred or Tommy!) or Duncan Hunter or Tom Tancredo or whoever it is you want for President instead of Dr. Paul -- even one of the media-loved RINOs like Rudy. Go to, or create, meetups for your candidate. Send your candidate a check. When there's an online poll and Ron Paul's kicking ass as usual, take heart and go vote for your candidate anyway. Go buy one of these (I have no financial connection with this company, but they look cool!) for your Republican party activities locally. Go out to sign-waving events for your candidate, like we do just-about every weekend to 0 media notice and much horn-honking from fellow freedom-lovers around here. Actually-attend meetups, and make them fun for all the other participants.
I could go on, but I think you see what I mean. The "secret" of how Dr. Paul's campaign has done things like DOMINATE Meetup/Myspace/YouTube/etc. despite palpable media bias against Dr. Paul's and his fans' ideas is simple -- just cooperate with fellow fans of your candidate and do what you can to help. It might even turn some strangers into friends.
Vernor's is bland compared to the Blenheim, which has so much ginger some folks don't like it. Admittedly, I'm into extremes when it comes to food/drink, so this would be like our respective tobacco-preferences, but someday if I'm in Montana (during summertime, IOW) I'll try to bring you some.

Please! Copy us! Let's defeat the Democrats!!!
August 3, 2007 - 06:59 ET by sarcasmoAnd here's another suggestion once you get excited about your candidate: Write a couple of songs about your favorite (our music's slowly-improving as the campaign goes on, and the price is still right so "hokey" is ok! $0.) and then make a video featuring the rally faces (including, for the record, a few black ones as well as all other imaginable shades, as if I give a crap!). Then post said Republican video for others to enjoy. Pasted below is the text of the email about ours I got this morning.
JMR
Rally online with fans of Dr. Ron Paul.
Hi folks,
I just wanted to let you know that I have posted a music video slideshow to
YouTube starring... YOU! All 1300+ of you, to be precise.
This video includes a photo and message of support for Ron Paul from every
rally participant. The photos are in a totally random order, and due to the
large number of photos (yeah!) only the first 100 or so display for long
enough to read the person's message.
The video is here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnN04Wuc1LE
Please check it out, and if you like it, give it a positive rating and add to
your favorites. But most importantly, leave a comment and HELP DISTRIBUTE
the video widely, all across the net, as well as the rally itself.
Let's show everyone the MASSIVE support base that exists for Ron Paul.
Some have already commented that the video moves too quickly during the second
half. Please keep in mind that the primary goal is to show that there are
LOTS of people supporting Ron Paul, not to bore them with a 10 minute long
slideshow. Also, the video format was designed to support growth as more
photos are added to the rally. All that said, future versions may add
improvements in this area.
If you are unhappy that your face just flashed by, fear not, as more videos
will be generated in the future, again in random order. So each time there
is a new chance to get your message in the spotlite.
If anyone would like to make modifications (or make a better video
altogether), you can find the source images on the rally website, in the
F.A.Q. E-mail me for an input file that can be used with dvd-slideshow
software. I am the first to admit that I am no expert in video creation, so
if anyone out there wants to take a crack at it, go for it!
I have built a script that can automatically re-generate the video every day,
as new photos are added. If anyone would like to donate bandwidth towards
hosting the video files, please let me know. Otherwise, I will probably just
do a periodic (weekly?) YouTube upload.
Finally, if anyone seriously objects to being in the videos, please reply to
this mail with DELETE ME in the subject, and I can remove your photo from the
rally entirely. I would hope that everyone in the mosaic is proud to show
their support however.

August 3, 2007 - 15:53 ET by stratmanThe order of the images changes each time you refresh the page. Right now my fav stoner sk8er boi is first one, top row, left side.
I also enjoyed the pic of the passed out dude, wasted on the ground with an overturned cup of something near him and a liquid trail of (I hope is only) his once favorite beverage now spilled. His text reads:

I heard about this story somewhere late afternoon believe it or not...may have been on the Grapevine with Brit Hume....nevertheless...that is not all that was said...I think they also told CAIR they could go to hell.
I will have o search for the link later...
Tickled me pink!
About time!!!
Btw...I do not care how this sounds either...we do not know what happened to that bridge yet, but I was outraged the Homeland Security came out immediately and said their was no terrorists involvement...how in the heck could they possibly know that yet.
I am not a conspiracy nut-case, but I am also a person who thought of CAIR and their ilk right off, especially being in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
I notice absolutely nobody, nobody is saying any of this...as far as I am concerned we have gone over the line with political correctness...way over the line.
...but then again, I will always believe that flight 800 was brought down by terrorists...too may credible eye-witnesses that the gov. said were just seeing things or implying they were liars.
I feel we may never know the truth here.
