Here Come the Brides: CNN Promotes a Social Engineering Soap Opera

In a bizarre leap of logic, CNN's John Roberts proposed same-sex marriage as "perhaps another path [that] needs to be taken" in response to high divorce rates.

Roberts' comment during the Feb. 16 "American Morning." followed a segment in which entertainment correspondent Lola Ogunnaike promoted daytime television's first lesbian wedding, which is scheduled to air this week on ABC's "All My Children."

Roberts framed the segment as taking "a look at the groundbreaking nuptials and the controversy surrounding them." But Ogunnaike only included one critical comment in the nearly three-minute story about "All My Children's" latest wedding. Glenn Stanton of the conservative Focus on the Family told CNN, "I think it's really important to understand that there are a lot of things that people really don't want to see and don't want coming into their home, and lesbian weddings are certainly one of them."

"American Morning" aired clips of lesbian brides Bianca and Reese, played by actresses Eden Riegel and Tamara Braun, pledging their undying love and devotion to each other. Roberts commented, "They are touching the heart strings there with the wedding ceremony," and Ogunnaike admited, "I shed a tear. I really did."

Apparently Roberts and Ogunnaike played right into what ABC hoped to accomplish by featuring a lesbian character on the show. Riegel noted that "the beauty of the show was that we were able to reach people and get people used to the idea."

Neil Giuliano, president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, echoed Riegel's comment and defended the wedding, saying "It's reality. And so when we see a lesbian couple getting married on daytime drama, it simply reflects what is happening in the real world. So in that sense, of course, it's a victory."

Braun used the segment to proclaim her support for same-sex marriage, "With the divorce rate as high as it is, you should have that right. No matter what sex you are, who you love, what color you are, you know, how many extra toes and feet you have. Equal rights for all people." Neither she nor Roberts explained what the divorce rate had to do with same-sex marriage.

If CNN were really reporting on the "controversy" surrounding the wedding, it would have given more time to those who do in fact think it controversial.  As for this segment let's call it what it was: advertising for "All My Children."

Social engineering being

Social engineering being done on a patriotic scale...Fake Patriotism @ BornAgainAmerican

 Making Fun of AGW http://giovanniworld.wordpress.com/

Oh please! Just how many little old ladies

and house wives with small children are out there watching this dreck, and thinking, boy, I think we need a lesbian wedding! It sure would be just like my life, and make this show so much better! I can spend all day explaining to my little kids why these to women are kissing in wedding dresses. Yeah right. Give me a break. Maybe in NY or Cali, but flyover country, I just find it hard to believe they cheer on all the gay scenarios on those shows.

All a Democrat needs is the upper-story window of public attention and the chamber pot of rhetoric. How else to explain the rise of Joe Biden?  P.J. O' Rourke

Let me get this straight (Ok, it's a pun)

Put yourself in the position of a heterosexual who's dealing with a troubled marriage. How will the fact that you have a gay couple next door make any difference?

According to this logic, the tragedy in a divorce is not in the personal details, but in the social rate? Is divorce a problem simply because of sagging numbers? Do we keep the marriage (and possibly the family) together ... because of how it affects the numbers?

Hey, if that's the counseling strategy, it's time for a new counselor.

Let me get this straight (Ok, it's another pun)

  • They're openly "marketing" gay marriage now, as a social policy? This wedding is just the test demonstration?
  • Is that how we're supposed to have rational discussion on social policies, through the manipulative emotions of soap operas?
  • They also write stories of adultery every day - is that groundbreaking too?
  • A TV reporter got a tear in her eye at a fictional wedding ... and that means something? They're touching the heartstrings ... yeah, because appealing to the rational judgment of Americans failed miserably.

They're going to use the standard liberal playbook. If the American people don't want it, the liberals will force it anyway, through every manipulative device they can think of.

My friends, when they push policies down your throat, cut off rational debate, threaten people who disagree with them, and openly manipulate public opinion through the media ... tell me how this isn't fascist?

Must be the new "in" things for soaps

The only soap I watch regularly, Guiding Light, is also featuring a lesbian storyline right now. It makes me feel uncomfortable, and I don't think any effort at "enlightening" me will ever change that feeling.

"If CNN were really

"If CNN were really reporting on the "controversy" surrounding the
wedding, it would have given more time to those who do in fact think it
controversial."

Don't worry the fairness doctrine will save us! I mean it is called the "FAIRNESS" doctrine so it's got to be all good....right?

Divorce - It doen't see to matter whether you are straight or

gay (not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Here is information CNN's liberal and ignorant John Robert's seems to be unaware:

1. Divorce rates in same-sex partnerships in Sweden were higher than heterosexuals: "Gay male couples were 50% more likely to divorce within an eight-year period than were heterosexuals; and lesbian couples were 167% more likely to divorce than heterosexual couples."

2. AP Boston: "Less than seven months after same-sex couples began tying the knot in Massachusetts, the state is seeing its first gay divorces."

3. UPI Boston: "The lesbian couple that helped inspire the Massachusetts same-sex marriage statute has filed for divorce, the Boston Herald reported Tuesday." A picture of the couple in happier days is here.

4. Stanley Kurtz wrote an excellent article on gay marriage at National Review titled Deathblow to Marriage.

On a related matter: "A student is suing Los Angeles City College over an incident in which a professor refused to let him finish a speech against gay marriage." The student says the professor called him a "fascist bastard."

he is married.
Then he is finished.

“The left -- you people, you Democrats -- you are creating a monster that you will not be able to control forever.  You will ultimately regret what you are doing just like the media will ultimately regret its sacrifice of reason, its abandonment of its primary purpose.” ~ Rush Limbaugh

Eh anything to advance the agenda

of destroying the fabric of America. No shame. No blame.
