NYT's Roger Cohen Smears Palin, Other GOP 'Ideological Fellow Travelers' of Norway Mass Murderer
New York Times international columnist Roger Cohen smeared Sarah Palin and Republicans in general in a politically opportunistic hit piece, ostensibly about the massacre in Norway, posted to nytimes.com on Monday, “Breivik and His Enablers.”
On one level Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian responsible for the biggest massacre by a single gunman in modern times, is just a particularly murderous psychotic loner: the 32-year-old mama’s boy with no contact with his father, obsessed by video games (Dragon Age II) as he preens himself (“There was a relatively hot girl on [sic] the restaurant today checking me out”) and dedicates his time in asexual isolation to the cultivation of hatred and the assembly of a bomb from crushed aspirin and fertilizer.
No doubt, that is how Islamophobic right-wingers in Europe and the United States who share his views but not his methods will seek to portray Breivik.
We’ve seen the movie. When Jared Loughner shot Representative Gabrielle Giffords this year in Tuscon [sic], Arizona -- after Sarah Palin placed rifle sights over Giffords’ constituency and Giffords herself predicted that “there are consequences to that” -- the right went into overdrive to portray Loughner as a schizophrenic loner whose crazed universe owed nothing to those fanning hatred under the slogan of “Take America Back.” (That non-specific taking-back would of course be from Muslims and the likes of the liberal and Jewish Giffords.)
"Take America Back" is a slogan of ethnic hatred? Somebody better tell Democrat Howard Dean, who spouted the slogan during his 2004 campaign for the Democratic nomination.
There’s no evidence that the mentally disturbed Loughner even saw Palin’s graphic, much less was inspired by it to violence. Whatever politics or views he had seemed a mish-mash of leftist anarchism and atheism -- not exactly Palin's demographic. Is Cohen truly not aware that this is standard issue political rhetoric done by both sides during American political campaigns? A similar target graphic was issued by the Democratic Leadership Council in 2004. And does Cohen realize the word “campaign” is itself a term borrowed from war?
Cohen, an embarrassingly fierce defender of the dictatorship of Iran and an equally fierce critic of Israel, then likened the murdering terrorist Breivik to mainstream Republican politicians like Rep. Peter King.
Breivik has many ideological fellow travelers on both sides of the Atlantic. Theirs is the poison in which he refined his murderous resentment. The enablers include Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, who compared the Koran to “Mein Kampf” on his way to 15.5 percent of the vote in the 2010 election; the surging Marine Le Pen in France, who uses Nazi analogies as she pours scorn on devout Muslims; far-rightist parties in Sweden and Denmark and Britain equating every problem with Muslim immigration; Republicans like former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Representative Peter King, who have found it politically opportune to target “creeping Shariah in the United States” at a time when the middle name of the president is Hussein; U.S. church pastors using their bully pulpits week after week to say America is a Christian nation under imminent threat from Islam.

Excuse me all to hell, but didn't that actually turn out to be the truth???
But hey, don't let the facts distract you from your anti-conservative tirade!
Correct, motherbelt

But that doesn't stop the author from ranting on. Why let facts get in the way?
Not to mention

Loughner's encounter with Giffords a few years earlier which evidently didn't go as he'd wished.
wow I can make wild accusations too

So this one European Fundamentalist, who cut and pastes things from other websites, claiming Islamophobia (Rogers words), goes and shoots his own countrymen (The Labour Party = Socialists) and some how WE in the U.S. are responsible? Wow. Even most liberals are saying THAT meme of thought doesn't pass the sniff test. So let's see about this next part shall we?
Like I heard from sources close to the NYT's that Roger is a racist pedophile. I'm not calling him one; or judging, what you do on your own time is up to you, but just saying that is what I heard.
See we can do it too, NEXT!!!
Palin is anti-Semitic?

COHEN: "(That non-specific taking-back would of course be from Muslims and the likes of the liberal and Jewish Giffords.)"
So, in addition to being accused of Islamophobia, Palin is anti-Semitic?!
Does she toss little babies in the air and spear them with her bayonet, too?
The Taking-Back is definitely about taking it back from liberals like the author of this drivel.
COHEN: ". . . the 32-year-old mama’s boy with no contact with his father, "
Is that an assault on single mothers? Is Cohen suggesting that he was screwed up because his single mother couldn't handle it without his father?
COHEN: " . . . obsessed by video games (Dragon Age II) as he preens himself (“There was a relatively hot girl on [sic] the restaurant today checking me out”) and dedicates his time in asexual isolation to the cultivation of hatred and the assembly of a bomb from crushed aspirin and fertilizer."
That sounds like a description of Bill Maher.
Cohen seems to know an awful lot about the psychological factors that shaped the shooter.

Uh, dude? Yeah, No need to portray. The guy is a walking talking schizoid with an Uncle Fester fetish.. No need to portray anything. Thank you.
Yes. It is true.

I am doing my best to portray the psycho loon Loughner as an Uncle Fester wannabe.
Cohen - cut the psychobabble--you don't know what it means!

Jared Loughner has been diagnosed as a paranoiac schizophrenic and thus unfit to stand trial. The diagnosis was made by a licensed psychiatrist and affirmed by the court handling the case.
Cohen: you are a depraved, delusional hack. You would blame the tragedy in Norway on factors so outside of your feeble comprehension just for political advantage? The ruling of the court in Loughner's case bursts you ultraliberal onanistic fantasies. Either deal with it or get some therapy.
Jared "No! I won't trust in

Jared "No! I won't trust in God!" Loughner is a whack job, Bush-hating leftist, atheist, abortion enthusiast, American-flag burning militant and freakshow freak 9/11 Truther, who like 61% of the Democrat party "thinks" that George W. Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks. In short, Loughner fits the textbook, clinical, classical, boilerplate profile of members of the Democrat party. It's not surprising that a nut job leftist nobody like Roger Cohen can't identify one of his own.
Best Post of the Day

The sad thing is that Cohen's collegues in the MSM shared 90% or more of his political outlook and they labeled him a right wing extremist solely because he shot his Congresswoman who happened to be a Democrat. It didn't matter that she was a blue-dog Dem all they saw was a chance to take cheap shots. Gabby Gifford herself didn't matter at all she was just a useful club to hit Sarah Palin, Conservatives, the Tea Party and Republicans over the head with in the wake of the Democrats historic loss in the House of Representatives. Payback time for the NYT.

"In short, Loughner fits the textbook, clinical, classical, boilerplate profile of members of the Democrat party..."
drsam nailed it in the previous post. Loughner is certified nutjob whose aberrant views and bizarre and profoundly disturbing behavior zigged and zagged all over the psychopathic map. True, Cohen's assertions are nonsense, but so is the description of Loughner as a "textbook" Democrat.

Here.
Let's not ever ever forget. There would not be an over the top scary quote "textbook" unscary quote Democrat post were it not for a member of the Mainstream Media in one of the top Mainstream Media newsprint editions making absurd over the top no scary quote allegations directed toward those of the right wing.
So please, I know you have to show someone here was not portraying Democrats in the kindest light. but really it was in response, Reee-Spon-Ssssss, to yet another supposedly well read, well known, personage of the MSM literally lying about those he does not like.
Let's just not forget that.
Time to fire thsi clown ...

Roger Cohen is simply not qualified to appear as a writer for any reputable newspaper and should be terminated immediatly. The editor that has failed to see this should be fired as well for being incompetant.
Can the NYt really wonder WHY they are losing readers and money?
But he is qualified to write for the NY Times . . .

Pravda in America
Submitted by FaulknerFan on Mon, 07/25/2011 - 6:02pm.
The thing that strikes me is that the media (in this case NYTimes) allows a total nutcase filled with blind abject hatred for those he disagrees with to spew this obvious horse$*** in its pages. They provide a platform for this stuff. What a state our media is in today. They are little different from Pravda in the Soviet days and our nation and our form of government that has given so much to the world in the last 200 years are in jeopardy because of it. Our supposed watchdog for the people has become a lapdog for the democrats and a mouthpiece for ideas that not too many years ago would have been considered treasonous. Thank God for the MRC.
Sorry, but right now I am
Submitted by eaglewingz08 on Mon, 07/25/2011 - 8:53pm.
Sorry, but right now I am withholding judgment as to the real ideology of the Norway terrorist. A young person in Norway would know that the worst person to act like is not a terrorist muslim but a "Nazi", so a manchurian islamofascist could create a false flage claiming to be anti muslim in order to perpetrate horrors, and such person would know that the lib media would tar conservatives for such a crime. A win win for the covert islamofascist.
However, looking at the terrorist's actions it is clear that he is not a nazi; nazis had love fests with muslims, cause they both hated jews more than they hated each other. if he were anti muslim, why did he not attack the areas in Norway with the greatest muslim on christian criminality, but instead chose non ideological youths to murder, just like the islamofascists in Breslan and who routinely commit such atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nothing in his espoused ideology would support his actions, unless he masked his real ideology.
I'm waiting for some Liberal to blame "Pearl Harbor" on...

Sarah Palin. How about the bombing of the Maine off of Cuba or the killing of all those people at the Alamo? Surely, Sarah Palin had something to do with all of those infamous events which means she must have been behind the Norway shooting as well.
Just another reason to never read the NY Times.
Logically follows!
Submitted by LaVallette on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 5:13am.
So if Palin and other GOP fellow travellers are enablers by association of this mad man in Norway and the other mad twit Loughner, by the same NYT"s and Cohen's and Demoncrats' twisted logic it must follow that all those against Palin and CO are enablers of the much more numerous Islamic terrorists.
"We’ve seen the movie."
Submitted by Quasi-socialist on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 8:51am.
Yeah, it sounds like a documentary. And the "overdrive" to "portray" Loughner as a schizophrenic is nothing compared to the overdrive of glibs before any facts were known.
This guy still thinks it's germane that Giffords "predicted" "consequence" over the map! It's amazing that when the shooting had nothing to do with the map, that if there are consequences of something, it's still a "prediction".
People like Cohen are fanatics. Arguing an ideology counter to theirs is forever "dangerous" and fraught with consequences, in their eyes. And although they do not even want a "chill" on speech that may marginally be political, they want to squelch the opposing political opinion.
Cohen IS the Grand Enabler
Submitted by Control Burn 2012 on Thu, 07/28/2011 - 6:05pm.
Enablers? Cohen should know all about it. He and other lib media are the champions of giving mentally ill (am I being too nice, here?) and evil killers license to do what they do by making ridiculous excuses for them. Namely, conservative and ordinary folks that just want to voice an opinion where their government is concerned are to blame somehow in the liberal media's eyes. That's the case even when it doesn't even make any logical sense. Sarah Palin was already in HuffPost's sights and I believe the article had been pre-written with simple blanks to fill in when Loughner murdered and shot those innocent people in AZ. HuffPost's blame game began less than 30 minutes after the shooting was reported. How does such a large and 'reputable' news organization put out an accurate and fact-checked story in such a hurry unless it was pre-written and ready to go ahead of time. Being a professional in the field, I was definitely left wondering about that one. As Hitler once said, if you say it enough times it will become true. Scary stuff.
