NY Times Finds Centrist Obama a Victim of 'Smears and Internet Innuendo'

  • Bookmark and Share

The New York Times's hypersensitivity towards perceived attacks on Obama was on display in Friday's "Ad Campaign" review by Julie Bosman. Under the heading "Scorecard," Bosman described the Obama's first ad of the general election campaign as an effective counterattack against anti-Obama "smear e-mail and Internet innuendo."

This advertisement tries to define Mr. Obama and his life story in the face of smear e-mail and Internet innuendo about his heritage, questions about his patriotism and accusations about his liberal record. It emphasizes his devotion to work, both personally and in his record, highlighting legislation that shows his compassion for working-class Americans and veterans -- and his toughness with welfare recipients. With its flag pin and statements on patriotism -- the commercial is called "Country I Love" -- it seeks to put to rest any doubts about his devotion to the United States. The advertisement addresses the problems Mr. Obama needs to address and tacks him back to the center.

And while he is not served particularly well by the face-to-camera shots, he comes across as personable and approachable. The sunny room and cozy family photos say to Americans who only know Mr. Obama's name and face that there is little to fear.

"Back to the center?" Was Obama, the most liberal Senator, ever in the center?

Note that in a previous "Ad Campaign" entry June 9, Bosman said John McCain had a "warmonger" reputation, which is apparently not an example of smear or innuendo.

This is what's so

This is what's so frustrating about the media's slavish devotion to Obama. He is NO CENTRIST! Obama has never supported a centrist idea in his life. He is straight up far left, liberal and always HAS been. The claim that he reaches across the aisle is the biggest lie of his campaign.

"The advertisement addresses

"The advertisement addresses the problems Mr. Obama needs to address..."

I think this ditzy broad needs to address her apparent aversion towards consulting a freak'n Thesaurus.

Killgrave, Good shot. LOL

Killgrave, Good shot. LOL

Another fine example.....

Another fine example of why the liberal media can't understand why we believe they lean hard left. They honestly believe they are in the center! Based on that scale, someone who IS in the middle is a neo-con, right wing nutjob.

Obam a centrist...

I always knew the NYT's was fond of stretching the truth a bit, but this is a level of lying that goes far beyond what even the public will accept. Let me guess, the NYT does not want a truthful label like "liberal" or "communist" to get any legs, so they call him a centrist. What a bunch of liars!

The new Obama "I'm just like you" Ad

After this ad comes out Rev. Wright and all the radical Chicago gang Obama hung out with for years

will have to denounce him and say

THAT'S NOT THE OBAMA THAT WE KNEW.

Proud to be a Bitter-Clinger

Obama lies in the ad . . .

The spot talks about "Bills I passed" one of them was Public Law 110-181 when he talks about his efforts to extend "health care for wounded troops who'd been neglected."

When the bill passed by a large margin the Democratic Candidate for President was in South Carolina, busily wiping the floor with Ms Clinton. (H/T John McCormick) He can't blame a campaign worker for this one, it is Obama himself in the TV Commercial.

This is just another in the series of lies/misdirections being shoveled at the US public by the Obama campaign, the agent of Change who lied to us about NAFTA, Campaign Financing and a phone call with the Iraqi Foreign Minister. And that was just THIS WEEK.

He also drags his grandmother, Madeline Dunham, out from under the Obama bus.  You know her as the "typical white person."

Just another

Just another example of Democratic "Newspeak".

Where up is down and down is up.

I recall going through the sixties and seventies and what I see and hear from Barack is as far left as you can get! It makes you wonder how deep the support of the Chicago Radicals and George Soros goes. I wonder how tight the puppet strings are or if these are partnerships of convenience. It certainly looks like Barack is  at least a sock puppet for these others.

A centerist may be worse

At least someone on the right or left has a plan, the centerist sits there unable to make a decision wondering what happened.

NYT never "smears", naw!

Its laughable, the "smear campaign" the NYT waged for 47 continuous days over Abu Graib, and they got the nerve to call it a smear campaign against Obama?

Let us get it straight, NYT, your opinion is simple: any "smear campaign" you wage against McCain is "just telling it like it is" but any "telling it like it is" about Obama by any other media outlet is a "smear campaign." In short, you have two standards of journalism, who you criticize is just "telling it like it is" but if someone "tells it like it is" against someone you endorse it is a "smear campaign."

I dare the NYT to print an article to prove they never "smear" anyone. Be sure to explain how stories from "unnamed sources" makes the NYT any better than a common Internet blogger. I mean, why should I believe "unnamed sources"? And explain this too: suppose another news outlet said, "NYT editor accused for child sexual abuse by an 'unnamed source' and it was not true." What you you do, sue for slander? I would. But then what would you do when the trial judge sided with the other news outlet that said they did not have to name their unnamed source in order to protect their sources in order to protect freedom of the press? I mean, is that not what the press does all the time to be able to protect "unnamed sources." So why believe you at all when you make the claim something is true and why not believe its true that some editor at the NYT is a child sexual predator just on the basis of a lie by an "unnamed source."

I consider "unnamed sources" to be a "smear campaign".

Finally, explain why your tactics at the NYT are no better than the press tactics used by the propaganda communist press. Are you as bad as they are?

"...his toughness with

"...his toughness with welfare recipients."
