Hollywood Director Scalds Alabama in Ads
Director Chris Weitz wasn’t satisfied humanizing the plight of illegal immigrants via his Oscar-nominated 2011 film “A Better Life.”
Now, the man who gave us “About a Boy” and “The Golden Compass” has directed a series of videos attacking Alabama’s anti-illegal immigration laws and comparing those who don’t believe in open borders to the state’s most racist political figures of yore.
Backed by the liberal group Center for American Progress, the four-video series “Is This Alabama?” offers a series of emotional pleas combined with deplorable comparisons that make having a fair and healthy dialogue on the issue impossible.
“The Two Faces of Alabama” contrasts a foul-mouthed local telling illegals “to get their papers and get out” to an attractive, well spoken teacher who will miss her illegal students if the law catches up to them.
It’s pandering at best, baseless propaganda at worst. But it’s the least offensive of the segments.
“What Alabama Knows About Civil Rights” zooms in on a preacher who calls Latinos “the new Negroes.” The clip also shows an old photograph showing a building adorned with a sign proclaiming “no Negro or ape allowed in building” as if Alabama’s modern policies come from the same mold.
In “Not the Kind of Alabama I Want,” Weitz makes a direct and despicable connection from the racist policies of Alabama Gov. George Wallace and “Bull” Connor to the modern laws against illegals.
“An Alabama Mother Speaks” marks another emotional plea for open borders.
When you don’t have facts or reason on your side, you call your opponents bigots and cast the issue as a faux civil rights violation. Weitz’s series does nothing to open the lines of communication on one of the most divisive issues facing our country. It simply calls the other side racists.

Well. I'll say one thing about the ad.

They found a dandy dude for the target. He's got just about as much respect for women as does Bill Maher.
Polls have shown that a strong majority of voters support what states like Arizona and Alabama have been forced to do, because of the refusal of our federal government to enforce the laws.
I'd call the Alabama and Arizona efforts a "populist" movement - the actions of Chris Weitz, intolerant of those who support the rule of law.
Speaking of the rule of law - just what did Obama say to help get him elected?
Sen and candidate Obama: I believe that we can take the undocumented workers, the illegal aliens who are here, get them out of the shadows, make sure that they are subject to a stiff penalty
. . make sure that they're learning English.
. . make sure that they go to the back of the line so they're not getting an advantage over people who came here legally
. . and we can once again be a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. That's what I intend to do as president of the United States.
Gee - what a racist the President is - ya think, Chris Weitz?
Note: of course, Obama was just campaigning.

Remember Neil Young's "Southern Man", and Lynryd Skynyrd (Sorry if I butchered the spelling) reply in "Sweet Home Alabama",
Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow
I'd say they don't need Chris Weitz either.
Chris who?

Never heard of him, or his work. But, I don't watch those circle jerks of mutual celebration that Hollyweird throws just so they can applaud each other. So, his opinion means less than nothing.
What does matter is the self-imposed flight of illegals from states that have attempted to do the job the federal government refuses to do.
I'm glad I'm not the only one

I'm glad I'm not the only one who avoids the Oscars. I've crossed more actors off of the list of whom I'll ever watch their movies than those of whom I actually MIGHT watch. I used to watch a lot of movies. Honestly, the garbage coming out of Hollywood and their support of 0bama and the Left has made me find other, more rewarding things to do. I bet I've seen two movies in the past year. I can't tell you what's been at the theater in the last six months nor what is coming out in the next two. I dn't even know what is there now. Nor do I care. I've found from a lot of people that I am not alone.

I'm with you on the movies. Once in a blue moon something might interest us. I'm thinking of going to see the Navy Seals movie though. Love those men.
Let me think...

Ah! The last movie I went to see was The Dark Knight in which Heath Ledger stole the entire movie.
Before that, we saw Batman Begins and that was after 10 years of not going to any movies.
I've seen trailers for The Dark Knight Rises and not all that sure I want to see it.
Forgot. We saw Serenity in a theater. Not as good as the TV series.
But I wandered off the subject. Bad Director! Don't do it again. There.

Does Weitz disclose that Connor & Wallace were Democrats?

Probably not. It would destroy the false narrative he is trying to create.

the same who brought you the unforgivably moronic "American Pie" movies, now wants to show the true side of racism by vaunting ONE redneck who must surely represent ALL red-state voters.
I would invite Chris to instead, show what he has personally done to make the lives of the illegal aliens better and what he has done to procure citizenship for them.
No, on second thought he won't. He'll talk loud about it but he won't sully his image by helping them.

Ah, so after making his money and name by making the American Pie movies he wants to be "serious" and "relevant", so he makes some adds furthering a liberal cause. Par for the course.

Yeah. That's the problem with these Hollywood freaks. They put out schlock like "American Pie" that contained nothing more than juvenile sex jokes, and that crapfest known as "About A Boy" that seven people watched and now they think they're relevant to anything other than schlocky moviegoers. NOPE!

This New York slimebag can take his open borders and you know where he can put 'em?! Yeah. There!
Poor illegals .. they and their brethren could have risen up and tried to take back their own corrupt hellhole of a country. Instead, they want to come here, become leeches, and turn THIS country into a hellhole.

What does Chris Weitz have against his fellow Democrats?
Hypocrites

You can bet these 'open borders' people don't leave their homes, bank accounts and automobiles open to foreign intruders, and would be quick to call the police if one showed up.
Amazing.

This putz would never have been in the industry if he hadn't been born into it. In 14 years since his first credit, he has a total of 12 credits, including voice and bit parts--not exactly a major player. Still dining out on the perverse success of "American Pie" (which wouldn't have had any of its name stars if it weren't for Weitz's parentage), his efforts go from bomb to flop and back.
So now he's trying for the "socially relevant" track. What a joke.

There are some people here in Alabama who agree with your nonsense. My perception is that more of us don't.
Have the discussion face-to-face. A debate, perhaps, or even a series.
It's hard for you and yours to get past the "illegal" part of "illegal immigrant," but your tap-dancing and personal denigrations, in lieu of actual substantive remarks, might just make for an entertaining evening.
