Charlie Daniels Column: The 'Arms Trade Treaty' Is a Danger to Our Right to Keep and Bear Arms

On July 27 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, acting on behalf of the United States of America will sign an international treaty through the auspices of the United Nations that is known as the Arms Trade Treaty, which will be represented by the Obama Administration as being a way to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists and criminals and would have no effect on private gun ownership in America.

First of all, have you even heard about such a treaty, do you approve of an inept, corrupt, crooked, anti-American agency like the United Nations having anything to do with gun control in America or anyplace else?

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Secondly, we've seen the abject failure of what happens when inept politicians and bureaucrats get involved in the firearms business. Just look at what happened with Eric Holder’s, yes Eric Holder’s, it was his department and his responsibility, Fast and Furious debacle. Do you honestly think the UN would do any better as corrupt as it is?

It's bad enough that our nation is signing the treaty and even worse that the American people, for the most part, didn’t even know it was happening.

Do you think all the provisions in the Obamacare package were exposed and laid out for the public's approval or disapproval?

What else is going on in the back rooms of Washington D.C. that an unsuspecting American public has no knowledge of or control over?

Which brings me to my main point, which is, I simply don't trust anybody in federal government anymore. I called the offices of both Tennessee Senators yesterday and was assured that they were both opposed to the ATT, but when it comes time to vote on the ratification of the treaty will they stick to that position?

How many of you feel sold out by Chief Justice Robert's Obamacare stand? A member of the supposedly irreproachable Supreme Court, taking a stand against the will of the majority of the American people to preserve some supposed high ideal of the court.

“Of the people, by the people and for the people?”

Sounds like, "Of the court, by the court and for the court" to me.

Who are the real power brokers in this game, who is really pulling the strings and making the puppets dance, what is the purpose and what is end game?

My opinion:

The power brokers are high ranking politicians, international businessmen and bankers, people who control big media and various and sundry powerful individuals from around the world.

The purpose is power, the kind of power that has not been held since the days when the Roman Empire ruled the known world.

The end game is global government, where a small cadre of the elite and powerful dictate every aspect of life on earth, a society in which your whereabouts would be known and kept track of 24 hours a day.

A strictly controlled society, devoid of privately owned firearms and where individual thought is discouraged, where you will do what you're told to do, when you're told to do it or suffer the consequences.

A society where you to have state approval to buy, sell, get medical care, hold a job or enroll your children in the state schools where they will be indoctrinated with whatever philosophy the powers that be want to fill their heads with and home schooling will be against the law.

Your freedom is being systematically and incrementally stolen from right under your nose and you don't even realize it.

Every time we sign an agreement with the United Nations we give up a piece of our liberty. You will be told that the Arms Trade Treaty is an international effort to keep firearms out of the hands of terrorists and dictators, but as usual the devil is in the details.

If the Senate ratifies this treaty you can say goodbye to private ownership of firearms because an international treaty supersedes sovereignty and America will be bound by it's provisions and disarming America will strike a major blow for global government.

I shudder to even think about what an Obama second term would be like.
