In a perverse advertisement currently on the its Web site, CBS is trying to cross market the crass television show "How I Met Your Mother" with the children's holiday classic "Frosty the Snowman" (and the not-so-classic "Frosty Returns").
The disgusting result was the video "Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman," in which Neil Patrick Harris's voice (in character from the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother") was dubbed over Frosty footage.
Harris' Frosty said things like, "We've got to have a bros' night at a strip club" because it's "healthy" and "harmless." He also discussed his "porn collection" and "the Dominator 8000 - the best bull whip on the market."
Well-known scenes of the classic Frosty delighting children by coming to life were perverted by the ad which included Frosty saying, "I have been with a lot of women. Blondes. Brunettes. Redheads. Big boobs. Small boobs. Medium boobs. Some boobs that were big but kind of in a bad way."
The new, crude snowman also encouraged the white rabbit in the movie to have sexual fantasies: "You should have hit that. Dude, your pants were already off. You had a classroom full of people to cheer you on. And you can't knock her up because it's a dream."
The voiceovers also included lines showing "Frosty's" willingness to punch anyone - "I'll punch a baby. I don't care." - and his delight in "scoring front row seats to a lethal injection."

We're not gay. We don't adore the gay lifestyle or any of the "alternative" styles of life. We're not all that into toilet humor or "funny" smut as our daily way of getting laughs, or having it be the crux of comedy in today's entertainment industry. We're all old (if not literally, in spirit.) We're not big on profanity. We're a bit too "adult-ish". And so on.
We're definitely not cool.

Fri, 12/04/2009 - 16:35 ET by balboaI'm not gay. I don't adore the gay lifestyle or "alternatives." Toilet humor can be funny if done well, and quite frankly sometimes crude is funny. Trend. The trend now is to inject any level of irreverence -- and an increased pushing of the envelope -- that they want into any type of show.
Sorry you don't see any trend at all. Like, um, how it's so prevalent now vs. 20-30 years ago.... and the concern of what it will be like 20-30 years from now.

I'm shrugging my shoulders because I don't think I'm contributing to any downfall of western civilization.
As for Nixon, I think a lot of that anti-establishment sentiment set in for people when it turned out Nixon was shady. A lot of young people were learning to distrust authority of any kind, to rebel, and Nixon leaving office sealed the deal. Of course this isn't the ONLY reason, but I think a lot of thinking was cemented after Nixon.

Fri, 12/04/2009 - 17:36 ET by balboaYes, I'm nwahs. I'm also balboa, Jer, arkansaszipper, and any other liberal here who you'd like to accuse me of playing.
And so am I.
I don't know how to make it
Fri, 12/04/2009 - 01:57 ET by Mike76I don't know how to make it any clearer. My point was, and is, that Porno Frosty seems to be part of a trend, aimed at children, pushed by the left. Some of the other things the left has done is defend Roman Polanski, the child molestor, push the homosexual agenda on children, and push abortion. Liberal Hollywood has been sexualizing children for some time. I started to spot a trend some time ago.
So given the trend I see, I believe Frosty is being targeted at children, despite liberal comments to the contrary. If anything, the fact the ONLY people who keep defending Porno Frosty on this thread are liberals, is support that what I say is true.
If fact, given the way the liberals are starting to get hysterical, I may be hitting the bullseye!
One need only to read through this thread to watch liberals jump to the defense. Now, if I am wrong about this particular SHOW, not the TREND, liberals who have posted have shown to have infantile tastes. Then again, they voted for Obama, so they would.
Well Mike76
Fri, 12/04/2009 - 10:50 ET by shawn228I hardly believe that I have been getting hysterical on this thread. I believe you are overreacting to something totally harmless and am simply defending my point.
I have never defended Roman Polanski, I believe he should be jail, so your argument does not apply to me. You can blame things on filth loving liberals as much as you like, but when a anti marijuana, or Anti Family Guy or South Park episode thread comes out, many South Park conservatives come out and say they enjoy this stuff and people should have he right to make and view these things. Freedom of speech should not only be for Keith Olbermann and Rush Limbaugh.
Shawn228
Fri, 12/04/2009 - 12:21 ET by Mike76I get your point. You think I'm being too extreme about this.
I just don't believe a show about the sexualization of children is "harmless." But my point is the show is part of a larger trend.
Whether I'm right, and it's part of a trend, or I'm wrong, and it's simply tasteless and infantile entertainment, I'm glad I'm not the one in the position of defending it.
But you're also the one trying to drag conservatives into what seems to be primarily a left wing trend - you know, the trend I mentioned that you keep ignoring. It seems you're trying to say that some conservatives are as bad as liberals - Great!
But I don't care what other conservatives like, and don't like. I'm only speaking for myself. As I pointed out, I don't like the trend I'm seeing.
If you believe I'm correct about the trend, and don't like it either, then maybe you shouldn't be part of a group that is for abortion, teaching children about homosexuality, that defends Roman Polanski, and so on. Also, it's my understanding that liberals are currently pushing for "rights" for pedophiles.
If you don't like it, liberals are the ones pushing "hate speech" and "fairness doctrine" laws to prevent people from talking about it. So much for "freedom of speech."
This is YOUR side, Shawn. I'm not saying this is YOU, I'm saying this is YOUR SIDE.
BTW, I never said you personally defended Roman Polanski, I said liberals defended Roman Polanski. I don't feel I have to list every exception to every rule every time I say anything.
I can't think of anything more to say, and I think I've made my point.
Sorry Mike76
Fri, 12/04/2009 - 22:17 ET by shawn228I never once said conservatives are as bad as liberals, I just applaud the fact that some conservatives are not prudes and can have a sense of humor.
Also you talking about liberals defending pediphile rights. That is silly for you to round up all liberals together for this, there is only a small percentage that would do this.
I know I'm not going to say Republicans said shooting George Tiller was the right thing. Were there some republicans that though shooting Tiller was the right thing to do? Yes absoloutly. Did most or all republicans say the shooting was right? No, not even close.
Also, why do you keep saying my side? I voted for McCain, I disagree with many things about the republican party, but same goes with the democratic party
*Shakes head*
Fri, 12/04/2009 - 14:18 ET by Roger the ShrubberThere are ALOT of Conservatives who find no real problem with stuff like this. Many of us LOVE South Park or The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc... Not all Conservatives are very religious, and painting anybody who would not be tremendously-offended by this Frosty thing is a Liberal, well, being rather small-minded, and an example of why the Republicans lost power in 2006. Being a intolerant, uber-religious blow-hard just does not endear you to many people.
Also, I consider Balboa one of my favorite Newsbusterites. Sure, we agree only half the time, but the half we do usually involves Natalie Portman... But that's a story for another time.

Why do I come here? I know I've posted this before. Let's see, I think boredom is first and foremost. I have a lot of downtime at work, and aside from the SI/Fan Forum site, this keeps me entertained. And it's more interesting being on a political site that goes against one's beliefs. If I was on DKos or Media Matters, I'd just be b**ching about the same stuff everyone else is over there. Not very interesting.

I encounter people who are really nice to me in distinct way that previously "banned" people were nice to me (I guess I am a Pollyanna when it comes to seeing the best in everyone)...so then later down the road, it's as though I'm meeting the same person all over again, with a different name -- I remember details. So that has been odd. But I honestly can't keep track of everyone enough to know for sure. I do get a real "deja vu" at different times though.
Maybe when someone new comes online, I should just come out and ask: DO YOU KNOW ME? LOL. Yeah, I may go with that.

See, here's the thing: an IP address is no longer static these days. It is assigned to your computer when you make an internet connection. When you are at home connecting to your network, you'll have a different IP address than if you were connected at a coffee shop, public wifi, your phone's 3G network, or just stealing your neighbor's connection. It won't work, and I hardly think Newsbusters is concerned with such a thing, especially when they need to raise $30,000 from members just to update their servers.

There are about 10 people on here who IF they turn out not to be who they say they are...would be really disheartening to me. Mainly because I would begin to lack trust in everybody.
