CMI’s Gainor on FNC, Discusses Media’s Treatment of Palin’s Book

On Nov. 19, Dan Gainor, Vice President of Business & Culture for the Media Research Center, appeared on FNC's "America's Newsroom" to debate with Julia Piscitelli, a Democratic Media Consultant, about how the media has treated Sarah Palin's new book.

FNC's Alisyn Camerota focused specifically on the Associated Press's decision to assign 11 reporters to fact check Palin's book "Going Rogue." Camerota noted that "similar books, by President Obama, Vice President Biden, even Bill and Hillary Clinton, did not get that same kind of scrutiny."

Gainor agreed with Camerota and said that "this isn't a fact check; it's a hack check." As proof, he pointed to the AP's history of fact checking books.

"You have to go back in to early 2008 to even find an AP reference about fact checking even one thing in a book," Gainor said. "To use 11 people in a day of limited news budgets just shows that their priorities - where they are. They want to take her down."

Gainor also mentioned that, despite AP's greatest efforts, the 11 reporters couldn't find any significant complaints.

"They didn't even really disagree with her," Gainor said. "They came up with 12 points - significant things like, oh, she says she usually stays in inexpensive hotels. They agreed then point out one time in New York she'd stayed at a more expensive one. C'mon, Alisyn, I mean you must have stayed at some pricey hotels in New York. Try to find a cheap one."

Gainor also pointed to Palin's book reviews as proof of the media's bias.

"Look back at how AP covered Barack Obama - ‘The Audacity of Hope,'" Gainor said. "They referred to it as ‘the phenomenon of Obama-mania is about to hit Chicago.' For Sarah Palin, they talk about her book 'going rogue with facts.'"

Of course it's only NEWS to any one not paying attention and justing accepting that what the Mainstream Media dishes out on a daily basis IS correct, if not a tad imbalanced. To any one else...the bias, the liberal agenda, the conservative bashing on general principle, and the intolerant view of anyone NOT a card-carrying liberal is status quo in the MSM. We have come to accept that we will be called racists, tea baggers, right wing nuts, gun-toting domestic threats (even though I do not and never have owned a gun) and extreme religious red necks (don't go to church regularly and have never lived in the South) because we choose to see things differently than the liberal. This bias coming from the tolerant and diversity-loving liberal party who declare THEY AND THEY ALONE care about those here under less-than-favorable conditions...unless those people happen to be conservative Republicans. They parade for the right to kill the unborn and assault the conservatives for demanding capital punishment for murderers...when it's common knowledge liberals control crime in the womb and target the very population they profess to love the most...the poor. Conservatives can see through them and for this reason, alone, they hate us. Not news to us.

I think the real story here is that faced with the massive effort by all of the liberal newspapers, magazines, columnests, all but one TV network and every lib talking head on both the left and right coasts, THEY CANNOT EVEN SCRATCH HER.

This woman has them all in hysterics and they don't know what to do at this point.

I get a special sense of satisfaction in watching the herd of homely hags in the liberal media being so incredibly jealous of this drop-dead georgous woman.

That debate got screwed up by timing

I was upset by how that debate got screwed up by a break. Right after Julia made those remarks about Gov. Palin "quitting" after only 2 years in office "to (supposedly) go make money with her book". She kept making it sound like she was just a quitter (she must have used the word "quit" about 10 times in those 2 minutes). They went to break. It was clear that Gainor wanted to address that, but by the time they came back, the moderator changed the direction of the question and the opportunity to address that misinformation was lost.

Gov. Palin did NOT quit her job and didn't do so in order to make money with her book--she resigned for the good of Alaska. She made that clear when she left office. The DNC and other lefties were inundating her office and staff with hundreds of frivolous requests in their attempt to find something on her. It was taking away from her ability to run the state effectively and costing Alaska a fortune. She left her position for the good of the people in Alaska--NOT for personal gain or because she couldn't handle it. I hate the liars who are doing everything they can to destroy people who have done nothing to deserve such treatment. We need to expose the lies and get the truth out.

Palin lost me when she said all we need to do is cut cut cut taxes on people and business's. we have 2 wars going on skyrocketing debt, our budget deficit is out of control and palin wants to cut taxes even more? Thomas jefferson would first laugh at her, then probably cry that she's taken seriously by any one.

i run a small business, i'd appreciate a tax cut, but i don't have the luxury that the mega corporations have in shielding profits offshore and taking huge advantages in loopholes to avoid their duty to pay taxes, but palin wants their taxes cut more. how will we pay down our debt? the founders said that taxes are necessary to avoid passing on debts incurred by any one generation, but bush and palin love the idea of increasing the debt and never paying for it.

real conservatives have no tolerance for - cut taxes across the board, increase spending, PRINT and BORROW money fake conservatives like palin and bush. the founders weep... of course after their done laughing at bush palin and obama.

Dude if you knew anything REALLY about small business you would know that tax cuts not across the board, but targeted tax cuts for SMALL BUSINESSES is what SPURS those businesses to add jobs, expand, put more into research etc, etc.

Hammer Bush as he wasn't a "real Conservative" if you must and hammer whomever, but get a grip on the facts of what tax cuts DO to HELP businesses.
