Media Yawn as Gay Activists Silence Conservatives at Smith, APA Convention

  • Bookmark and Share

At Smith College, it was a few dozen student activists screaming, chanting and banging pots and pans.  With the American Psychiatric Association, it was angry letters from adult activists and bitter stories in the homosexual press.  The bottom line is the same: far-left homosexuals successfully intimidated a few cowardly officials and silenced voices they don't want the public to hear.

Not a bad way for neo-Marxist ideologues to celebrate May Day, but you'd think America's watchdogs of liberty, the free press, might raise an objection.  Sadly, the liberal media haven't written a word about either story.

On April 29, author Ryan Sorba was invited by the Smith College Republican club to speak about his forthcoming book, "The Born Gay Hoax."  The club arranged for police and campus security to be present in case campus radicals attempted to disrupt the speech.

Video shot by a conservative Massachusetts political group, MassResistance, shows officers standing by as laughing students, apparently in no fear of being disciplined by the college administration, chanted, screamed and banged on pots and pans.  Eventually the students rushed the podium and grabbed the microphone.  Rather than haul away the miscreants, the officers and a Smith college official ordered the speaker to leave.

The following day, Smith President Carol T. Christ sent a message to "the Smith community" about the incident.  Christ wrote, "I am disappointed that some members of our community chose not to uphold our own commitment to freedom of expression."  Then she lowered the boom: "We are investigating possible violations of college policy."

Here is an investigation that should begin in the Smith president's own office.  If Christ were serious about upholding freedom of expression, she would suspend or expel the students caught on video "possibly" violating Smith policy on free speech.  She would also forward all the information she has to the local police so they can investigate the apparent violation of Massachusetts law.  In Massachusetts, it's illegal to interfere with any person exercising a right protected by the state or U.S. constitution.

Meanwhile, the Washington Times reports that unnamed officials in the American Psychiatric Association have canceled a symposium, "Homosexuality and Therapy: The Religious Dimension," which was to be held Monday, May 5, at the Washington D.C. Convention Center.  Homosexual activists complained that the panel would promote "reparative therapy," or treatment of people with unwanted same-sex desires.

According to the Times, the APA canceled the panel after controversial homosexual Episcopal bishop Vicky Gene Robinson dropped out, and after "gay activists campaigned against the two evangelicals slated to appear," Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President Albert Mohler and psychiatrist Warren Throckmorton.

Robinson told a homosexual newspaper, The Washington Blade, that "Conservatives, particularly Focus on the Family, were going to use this event to draw credibility to the so-called reparative therapy movement."

Rather than haul away the miscreants, the officers and a Smith college official ordered the speaker to leave.

And that is the dirty little secret on most college campuses these days. David Horowitz at Frontpagemagazine chronicles incidents such as this on a regular basis. Normally they don't discipline the protestors, they stop the speech. And make a note not to have any more speakers from that group, because they might be "disruptive."

I'm surprised the college President even decided to investigate and discipline the students after the fact.

The protestors should have been removed from the hall. Shame on the cops who stood by.

Brownshirts

These are brownshirt tactics. I hate invoke Godwin here, but that is exactly what this is.

Monkeys running the zoo

The monkeys are truly running the zoo! See where political correctness and "sensitivity" for every bizarre group has taken us?

The majority hardworking, taxpaying, heterosexual people who built this country and still pay the vast majority of its bills have been beaten into keeping quiet or risk being labelled as "racist," "sexist," "homophobic," "anti-immigrant," etc. After all, we wouldn't want to impose judgement on anyone else, would we? What gives us the right? We have the right because life is a series of judgements. The left and its ilk have no problem imposing their belief systems on us. This incident at Smith is a great example.

Americans have to get past this political correctness b.s. It will eventually kill us all.

Exodus International

Is an orgainization of formerly homosexual men who go around the country speaking about their experiences.  All our living perfectly healthy heterosexual lifestyles and also teach about the "born gay" myth.

The same orgainization mentioned above recorded how 'Gay activists' surrounded the building these people were in and threatened violence to them.  The massuchusetts police assigned to the event told the Exodus group that it wouldn't do anything to the protestors and that if they wanted to insure their own safety they should stay inside the building and not leave.  Esentially making them prisoners.

You will never hear about Exodus International in the mainstream press, there's also a group for women but I forget their name.

No matter what the media does

The school's administration should hold these jerks accountable.

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

the gay hoax

It really is nothing but a hoax. Most gays have homosexual feelings sue to traumas they sustained in childhood or adolescence. Many gays are so unhappy about their lifestyle that they want to give it up. They know that gays wind up old and alone without a family. They also have a much lower life expectancy and are much more prone to venereal diseases because they mostly are much more promiscuous and also don't worry about unwanted pregnancies and use no condoms "in the heat of the passion." A physician once called homosexuality like an addiction because it impinges on your life and health to such an extent that it eventually kills you. On average, a gay has between 500 and thousand partners! These are the reasons why God abominates homosexuality. The facts are out there but the liberals ignore them and allow gays to promote their lifestyle as hip and normal as if it had any advantages over straightness. Is it any surprise that a third of today's youth have a disturbed sexual identity? Gayness is a destructive lifestyle that goes against families and God's plan. It may be fun to be gay when you're 20 but wait till you're 60 and an old sad duffer without a family. Do these activists ever care enlighten people about these sad realities? And since they feel guilty, they try to legitimize their damaged sexuality by selling it as normal and healthy and hip. And anybody who dares disagree is a heretic and needs to be silenced. typical liberal tack

So what if gays were born gay? Does it mean that a born alcoholic or wife beater shouldn' be allowed to seek treatment? How dare those so-called "gay activists" speak on behalf opf all gays? How many gays are out there unhappy with their homosexuality who don't dare seek treatment because of those brownshirt liberal fascists? The truth is that gayness can be treated, esp. with the help from God.
