Stop the Bickering, Kiddies! Keep Your Eyes on the Prize!

Don't you just love it when The Washington Post lays bare its bias for all to see?

Today's lead editorial scolds those naughty Democrats, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, for slinging mud at each other, and pleads with them to "move the discussion to a higher plane" for the sake of the Party.

Heaven forbid the Party should tear itself apart months before a presidential election! Can you imagine the Post demanding that John McCain and Mitt Romney stop lying about each other to maximize the GOP's chances of winning in November?

Like so many Big Media reports about the Martin Luther King Jr. spat, the Post editorial bends over backwards to be fair and balanced, pointedly avoiding any hint of favoritism for either Hillary or Barack. Just like Mom breaking up a fight between Sis and Junior.

Obama does absorb the hardest slap: "...abetting his supporters in their mischaracterizations" about Hillary's remarks "might help him secure a large majority of the black vote ... But it isn't good for his party." Ouch!

Hillary takes a good whack too: "[Clinton supporter Robert Johnson's] veiled jabs only serve to stoke the theory that the Clinton campaign is subtly playing the race card ..."

The biggest problem with the campaign coverage so far is the media's widespread giddiness about the "historic" first-ever serious female and African-American presidential candidacies. The media are so captivated by these historic firsts that they aren't bothering to tell the voters what they really need to know, what the candidates will do if they're elected.

MRC's culture arm, the Culture and Media Institute, plans to hold the media accountable this year for telling us where the candidates plan to lead us, especially on cultural, moral and character issues. Are you kidding??!!!

"The media are so captivated by these historic firsts that they aren’t

candidates will do if they’re elected."

Are you serious? They're all Democrats. If elected they will raise taxes, spend 3x that amount on socialized "stuff" and then blame someone else for the ensuing recession/depression.

The only real decision for Democratic voters, is whose face might they want to stare at for 4 years.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

dem debate

I've watching the Democratic debate in
Nevada and I cannot believe the prevarications, falsehoods and
damnable lies I hear. Hillary, Obama, and Edwards trip over
themselves to find distinctions between them and end up telling
outright lies and the most fantastic stories (in the form of policy
statements) I have ever heard. On energy policy, they all would shut
down Yucca Mountain and convene a group of impartial scientists and
let them come up with a repository, instead of the evil Bush trying
to dump the waste on the unsuspecting people of Nevada. Never mind
that they all know that has been done many times and Yucca Mtn keeps
coming up as the only most appropriate place to store our waste. They
talk about taking away the evil one's tax cuts, subsidies, etc he has
given the oil companies. They all want to cap carbon output, start
cap and trade, and take away the windfall profits. Of course, not one
of them said a word about who actually pays when the government takes
money from a business. The moderators failed to ask this fundamental
question. They all want to reduce your power bill, and at the same time never again build
nuclear power plants (Obama will only wait for a safe design---they
blow up, don't they?) Edwards won on points in this mini-debate when
when after the usual promises to consumers he said he would halt all
nuclear plants and new coal-fired plants as well! Talk about
brown-outs, get ready for a war between New England and states on the
TVA power grid the first cold winter. Of course New England's
industry will boom when they reopen the water mills because electric
motors don't run on 9-volt batteries.

Russert did follow through with the
withdrawal of troops from Iraq. He had all three backing away from
the first statement of all that they would all get the troops out in
the first year. Exceptions abounded for protection of the embassy,
troops, hitting al Qaeda, etc. Only Edwards stuck to his guns, sort
of. He would fight the bad guys from inside Kuwait. I wonder if he
has placed a call to Kuwait telling them what life will be like after
he is elected. John-Boy reiterated the story of his meeting the
President of Pakistan and his call to Musharraf. I can just imagine
Pervez looking at the phone (with Edwards prattling on) and asking
who the hell is this guy. Edwards forcefully said something like “I
know President Musharraf”, then he backed off knowing him and kind
of stumbled/mumbled “I met him, ah, some years ago”. Cocktail
party?

I wonder if they know what they are
doing Could they watch themselves and explain all the
contradictions and falsehoods or are they lost in the wilderness?

Issues

It would be wonderful if the candidates could stick to the issues but the clintons have been working the race card with MLK slams, 'spadework'aim, 'kid and 'fairytale 'comments. Now trying to put Obama in the 'establishment' box. Interestingly , her 35yrs of experience is almost exclusively 'present'. No security clearance, no National Security Mtg attendance, no diplomatic experience, healthcare failure. Obama has been an elected official longer than clinton and he has been part of the organization for change, taught law, was a leading force on the south side of Chicago for childrens rights, a civil rights lawyer and has stayed above the fray in the nastiness that the clintons have been pushing at him from day one. Too young, muslim, drug dealer but none stuck .. So as is their MO, they [clinton's] pulled out the race card and tried to blame it on him...More the problem, the media allows the clintons to slide by without recrimmination.
I happen to have Pres.Clinton's papers from '93 to'96. Hillery is mentioned twice in passing. She is as fake as the experience she claims.
