Bozell Column: HBO's Palin Pollution

By Brent Bozell | February 25, 2012 | 08:56

Brent Bozell's picture

Sarah Palin’s top aides held a conference call to denounce the forthcoming HBO movie “Game Change,” which like any ultraliberal media production, knocks Palin as a mentally imbalanced moron. Reporters are already underlining the Palin aides haven’t seen the movie.

But isn’t that the point? As Pat Buchanan once said about another subject, “Does one need to lift the manhole cover to know what’s below?” Did the Clinton team wait to see the movie before begging ABC to kill “Path to 9/11"? Did the Kennedy team wait to see the miniseries “The Kennedys” before getting it demoted to the Reelz Channel? The Palin folks can be pretty certain – especially since the trailer itself announces it’s a hit job.

Just see the rave review of Baltimore TV critic David Zurawik, who has seen this transparent propaganda, and the game is over. “In a rational world, this film will help guarantee that Sarah Palin will never be elected to any major office again,” he asserts triumphantly. Zurawik lines up just a few snippets of the Palin-bashing he relished.

1. McCain strategist (and Palin-bashing media darling) Steve Schmidt (played by Woody Harrelson) offers this analysis of the McCain-Palin ticket: "This wasn't a campaign. It was a bad reality show."

2. More than one adviser raises the possibility of Palin being mentally ill. And some of the actions and words attributed to her in the film lend credence to that smear. Zurawik adds, “I can’t wait to hear the self-serving howls on Fox News when they see how Roger Ailes' million-dollar analyst mistake is depicted in the film.”

3. Standing onstage on election night when it’s all over, McCain says privately to Palin: "You are one of the leaders of the party now. Don't let yourself get co-opted by Limbaugh and the other extremists. They'll destroy the party if you let them."

4. Zurawik loved “how deftly the film uses documentary evidence to show Palin's incredible ignorance of foreign and even national affairs. Yes, the Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson interviews are front and center -- and amplified. And Palin looks even more uninformed, dazed, confused and silly because the filmmakers share the point of view of senior McCain advisers like Schmidt who literally moan in agony as Palin infamously starts talking about the geography of Alaska and Russia.”

The film-makers use real footage of Katie and then cut in Julianne Moore’s Fake Palin. Other reviews note that Steve Schmidt’s actual Palin-trashing, “Game Change” book-promoting  interview on “60 Minutes” is the exclamation point at the end of the film. HBO is merging their leftist “docudrama” with real liberal-bias “news” clips to leave one unmissable point: never vote for Sarah Palin. Ever. For anything.

The last HBO docudrama from this team of director Jay Roach and screenwriter Danny Strong was “Recount,” which made heroes out of Al Gore’s aides and lawyers in 2000 as they tried to change the Florida election results. One reviewer summed it up as “a screechy example of liberal Hollywood condescension,” and “the film's flair for exaggeration is as flabbergasting as it is embarrassing.”

It should be safe to assume that HBO launched this hatchet job into production with the notion that Palin was going to run for president. (She’s still hinting that she’d love to be picked if the GOP has a brokered convention.) This whole enterprise reeks like a super PAC ad, complete with a pile of Obama-supporting actors and an Obama-bundler as executive producer – Tom Hanks.

The film is called “Game Change,” after the book with the same title. But in the actual book, when does Sarah Palin really appear? In Chapter 20, titled “Sarahcuda,” on page 353. When the book came out in early 2010, the hottest backstage tidbits were about Obama. Harry Reid praised Barack Obama’s political appeal as a "light-skinned" black man with "no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." Ted Kennedy was furious at Bill Clinton after Clinton sneered that Obama was so inexperienced that "a few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee."

HBO had no interest in hiring actors to smear Obama or Reid or Clinton. How about the relationship of John and Elizabeth Edwards, which is clearly ripe for cinematic exploration/exploitation? HBO ignored how Edwards staffers told the authors Mrs. Edwards made them feel like “battered spouses.” In brief, the authors wrote: “What the world saw in Elizabeth: a valiant, determined, heroic everywoman. What the Edwards insiders saw: an abusive, intrusive, paranoid, condescending crazywoman.”

But HBO wants to paint the Democrats as the valiant heroes, and paint the Republicans as the paranoid crazy women. Nobody needs to wait until March to wonder whether HBO is ridiculous when it puts out a statement calling this movie “a balanced portrayal of the McCain/Palin campaign."

HBO is the same nutwork who gives us Bill Maher!

Submitted by Mary Louise Turner on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 9:26am.

Remember these things about Home Box Office: 1) The nutwork is the chief forum for one of the crassest "comedians" on earth, Bill Maher: 2) HBO is owned by Time Warner, a major contributor to Obama in 2008: 3) HBO gave us a sicky-sweet "documentary" on Ears in 2009, shortly after he took office.

As for this piece of garbage: Mark Halperin, who wrote the book, writes for big-time MBM outlet Time magazine (owned by, of course, Time Warner). And the cast and crew consist of big time Obama supporters (no surprise here at all). Here's another reason to cancel HBO subscriptions...

preaching to their choir

Submitted by spepper on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 9:40am.

HBO's political agenda is so thinly veiled, even Mr. Magoo could see right through it. (Note to kids: "google" Mr. Magoo to discover the comedic premise of his character: poor eyesight). Are they not "preaching to their own choir" by now? I had terminated my subscription to them a long time ago when that became quite clear in their "original HBO production" content. Among my friends and co-workers, a somewhat politically diverse group, I know of NO ONE who either currently subscribes-- all either "never" or "formerly" subscribed. Whenever you turn on one of those "self congratulatory" awards shows, HBO ALWAYS rakes in the trophies-- because the "Hollywood industry" just "oohs and ahhs" whenever their company is mentioned. They've literally become the proverbial "2nd oldest profession" all groveling to HBO's status as "biggest pimp on the block". Has anyone ever peeked behind their curtains to see any associations between HBO execs and openly partisan groups such as Media Matters? Bet you lunch that it's so.

Boycott this movie and other shows that indoctrinate rather than educate and entertain. If I choose to watch a television show or movie and see they are obviously trying to make a cultural point of view thats contrary to my world view, I change the channel. I refuse to watch the Lying Stream Media national news - ABC, CBS, NBC and the parasitic cable channels like MSNBC and CNN. They haven't the slightest pretense of balance.

If enough people who disagreed with these propaganda mills would do the same and write their advertisers, the mesage may eventually get across - especially when it hits them in the pocket book.

You have a choice. Watch their garbage or turn it off.

Sure,+ Couric's glaring ignoring of Biden dementia-like quotes?

Submitted by merly1 on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 11:22am.

Again, you have Joe Biden who gaffes endlessly. Couric interviewed Biden who made chilling
statements about "Roosevelt on TV" (wrong Prez, wrong tech). Yet, this was simply ignored or
given the "good, old Joe" treatment,
Sadly, we know some level of post-stroke dementia will affect almost 50% of stroke survivors decades after the stroke event. Yet, our VP is the proverbial "one heart beat away" from the nuke buttons, and still never a question of the human gaffe machine, ie "Sir, have you had recent MRI's or neuropsychometric tests?"
It doesnt even have to be rude questioning, just a basic inquiry based upon real medical science.
No, HBO gives us yet another Palin screed. America is in decline, and deserves its fate..................

Here's the Lancet reference, if HBO has Biden movie in works,

Submitted by merly1 on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 11:31am.

Abstract

Dementia is one of the major causes of dependency after stroke. The prevalence of poststroke dementia (PSD)-defined as any dementia occurring after stroke-is likely to increase in the future. In community-based studies, the prevalence of PSD in stroke survivors is about 30% and the incidence of new onset dementia after stroke increases from 7% after 1 year 48% after 25 years. Having a stroke doubles the risk of dementia. Patient-related variables associated with an increased risk of PSD are increasing age, low education level, dependency before stroke, prestroke cognitive decline without dementia, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, epileptic seizures, sepsis, cardiac arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, silent cerebral infarcts, global and medial-temporal-lobe atrophy, and white-matter changes. Stroke-related variables associated with an increased risk of PSD are stroke severity, cause, location, and recurrence. PSD might be the result of vascular lesions, Alzheimer pathology, white-matter changes, or combinations of these. The cause of PSD differs among studies in relation to the mean age of patients, ethnicity, criteria used, and time after stroke. In developed countries, the proportion of patients with presumed Alzheimer's disease among those with PSD is between 19% and 61%. Patients with PSD have high mortality rates and are likely to be functionally impaired. These patients should be treated according to the current guidelines for stroke prevention.

You knew I'd chime in sooner or later!

Submitted by drsamherman on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 12:10am.

From what I have observed of Joe Biden, there could be multiple pathologies at work in his constant mangling of everything under the sun. He was a terrible, cynical choice to be Vice President. Thankfully, at least it removed that blowhard from the Senate and put him in a position where he would be reduced to cutting ribbons at supermarket openings and being the official US ambassador to funerals, marriages and other state occasions outside of the US when Mooch is on vacation--yet again.

The first thing I notice about Joe is his constant state of confusion. There are more than a few pathologies that could be at work, from an anticholinergic overload in his medications to the sequelae (after-effects) of various forms of CVA (CerebroVascular Accident = stroke) to an uncovered mental illness proximal to other causes.

I also notice Joe's facial expressions. While some of this may be due to aggressive Botox dosing (he certainly continues to have that done--look at the lack of eyebrow movement), some of it may also be a manifestation of a CVA.

The last thing I notice about Joe is the disinhibition present in his speech and behavior. Normally, patients who are taking certain forms of sedatives (benzodiazepines primarily) and certain types of antidepressants simultaneously experience a decrease in their ability to control what they say. Akin to a form of verbal Tourette's, patients who are receiving larger doses of benzodiazepines like Klonopin, Valium, Ativan or Xanax will say whatever is on their mind without filtering it relative to the emotional affect it would have upon the receiver, as a normal patient would be inhibited from saying certain things based on the assumption they have a normal degree of emotional connection and concern for an intended conversational recipient. This same disinhibition can also affect behavior, with the patient taking physical risks and being far more physically aggressive than they otherwise would be.

I certainly don't know what medications Joe is receiving, but based on his family history (as mirrored through his son's stroke), I would bet it includes one or more antihypertensives (a number of which carry significant anticholinergic potential), one or more medications for depression and/or anxiety (the disinhibition I mention above strongly suggests that) and perhaps other medications like a lipid-lowering drug (statin) and those for other diagnoses he might have. Anticholinergic toxicity is additive and is measured in units called "atropine equivalents". As Joe ages, his ability to excrete potentially active drug metabolites also diminishes as kidney function decreases as a natural consequence of age. This generally means that with elderly patients I usually reduce the doses of any psychiatric or neurological medications to avoid anticholinergic toxicity whenever I can.

The only ignorant one here is you.

When the British PM calls an election, does he just say "I'm calling an election"?  Or, does he go see someone first?  And if/when he does, who is it?

When watching some old PMQs once, I heard David Cameron yelling at then-PM Brown to "Get in your car, go down to Buckingham Palace, and call that election!"  Gee, why would a PM have to do THAT?

I once heard a scathing lecture on the military operations in Bosnia, and when the British military issued orders, the first words were "The Queen's government..."

Your last question only shows me how poor your grasp of history and human nature is.

The condescension of Leftists like goldwater89

Your inability to read and your condescension are astonishing.  I couldn't expect anything less from a liar who claims to be a Republican but will ONLY attack conservatives.  PLEASE show me where "I agreed with her" and said that the Queen is "the chief decision maker".

Please read the 2012 World Almanac and Book of Facts.  The PM is the Head of Government.  The Queen is head of state.

Please show for me, illiterate one, where I said that the Queen determines if and when there should be an election.  I know you live only for attacking conservatives, constantly lying, and being a condescending asshole, but unfortunately for you, they only thing you are succeeding at here is demonstrating you very own colossal ignorance.  The Queen's position may be ceremonial, but when election time comes, the PM turns to her to dissolve Parliament, after which the election is called.  Why else was David Cameron demanding then-PM Brown visit Buckingham Palace to call an election in one of my favorite PMQ sessions available on YouTube?  What was PM Brown to do?  Comment on the artwork?

The monarch also serves as something of an advisor to the PM when the PM feels the need to call on her to do so. And the Queen is well placed for such a role; as she has been Queen for 60 years, she's seen all sorts of PMs come and go.  When she assumed the throne, Winston Churchill was PM (in the midst of his term from 1951-1955).

Also, please show me where or how I am a "Sarah Palin apologist".

Don't mess with a dude who is surrounded by Anglophiles and who himself watches PMQs for entertainment.

By the way, PLEASE show me where the woman you most passionately hate for not being a committed Leftist like you are specifically said "the Queen is the chief decision maker".  A line from a book or a movie does not count.

If she is as colossally as dumb as you, Leon the Steve Schmidt loving troll, claim. She's made dozens of ignorant statements. But one of my favorites was when she said that the Constitution was based on the Bible.

George Washington 1st U.S.

Submitted by NC Cop on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 4:15pm.

George Washington
1st U.S. President

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."
--The Writings of Washington, pp. 342-343.

John Adams
2nd U.S. President and Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be."
--Diary and Autobiography of John Adams, Vol. III, p. 9.

"The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God."
--Adams wrote this on June 28, 1813, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson.

Thomas Jefferson
3rd U.S. President, Drafter and Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; That a revolution of the wheel of fortune, a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in that event."
--Notes on the State of Virginia, Query XVIII, p. 237.

"I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ."
--The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, p. 385.

John Hancock
1st Signer of the Declaration of Independence

"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us."
--History of the United States of America, Vol. II, p. 229.

Benjamin Franklin
Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Unites States Constitution

"Here is my Creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That He ought to be worshipped.

That the most acceptable service we render to him is in doing good to his other children. That the soul of man is immortal, and will be treated with justice in another life respecting its conduct in this. These I take to be the fundamental points in all sound religion, and I regard them as you do in whatever sect I meet with them.

As to Jesus of Nazareth, my opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the system of morals and his religion, as he left them to us, is the best the world ever saw, or is likely to see;

But I apprehend it has received various corrupting changes, and I have, with most of the present dissenters in England, some doubts as to his divinity; though it is a question I do not dogmatize upon, having never studied it, and think it needless to busy myself with it now, when I expect soon an opportunity of knowing the truth with less trouble. I see no harm, however, in its being believed, if that belief has the good consequence, as probably it has, of making his doctrines more respected and more observed; especially as I do not perceive, that the Supreme takes it amiss, by distinguishing the unbelievers in his government of the world with any peculiar marks of his displeasure."
--Benjamin Franklin wrote this in a letter to Ezra Stiles, President of Yale University on March 9, 1790.

James Madison
4th U.S. President

"Cursed be all that learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ."
--America's Providential History, p. 93.

Indeed, the list goes on and on. To say the Founding Fathers were not affected by Christianity, nor founded this country on Christian beliefs is idiotic.

I see,

Submitted by NC Cop on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 4:43pm.

so even though the Founding Fathers were obviously Christian, they believed in living their lives by Christian values, God is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, but because they do not specifically mention the CHRISTIAN God in the Constitution, that means the country was not founded on Christianity and Christian values????

The separation of church and state was to keep government out of religion, NOT to keep religion out of government.

Paul Revere DID warn fellow British subjects about the British military as his midnight ride came - what? - 15-16 months BEFORE the Declaration of Independence?

I could make a good case that Sputnik (and the space program the Soviets had) aided the bankruptcy of the Soviet Union.

The Vice President is in fact the President of the Senate.  Read the Constitution sometime.

The Dingbat goldwater89 troll: 2. Sputnik Bankrupted the Soviet Union

The dingbat brings this as an example of a Sarah Palin statement.

LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE.

Sarah Palin did not say Sputnik bankrupted the Soviet Union. She said The USSR incurred so much debt, it led to the inevitable decline of the USSR. The dingbat goldwater89 LIES again. He can't even get a quote right.

Sarah Palin: And he needs to remember that what happened back then with the former communist USSR and their victory in that race to space, yes, they won, but they also incurred so much debt at the time that it resulted in the inevitable collapse of the Soviet Union.

And is she alone in that theory?

The Space Race is often viewed as an extension of the Cold War. The USSR and USA were competing to outdo each other in the mediagenic field of space exploration, in an effort to prove that their system of political organization (Communism vs. Capitalism) was superior. Although the Soviet Union had a very strong start, launching the first satellite and the first human into space, the USA eventually triumphed in the long run, landing the first man on the Moon. By the mid-70s, the Soviet Union was entering an economic downturn that would signal its eventual collapse. This forced it to cut way back on funding its space program.

The Dingbat goldwater89 LIES again!

Submitted by The Vet on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 12:41pm.

The dingbat goldwater89 troll: 3. The Vice President Runs the Senate

Another example of the dingbat saying Sarah Palin is stupid when in fact he is the stupid one.

Sarah Palin addressing 3rd graders: "A vice president has a really great job because not only are they there to support the president’s agenda, they’re there like the team member, the teammate to the president," Palin continued. “But also, they’re in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.

That is an oversimplification but she was addressing 3rd Graders. Something the LYING dingbat goldwater troll has yet to pass.

From that same article ---

Article I of the Constitution states that "The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided."

In recent years, the role has been largely ceremonial. Vice President Dick Cheney has cast just eight tie-breaking votes during the Bush administration. Most recently in March, Vice President Cheney broke a tie on a procedural motion whether to consider an amendment that would have rolled back tax rates for the alternative minimum tax.

The vice president can also preside over floor debate in the Senate — a role usually filled by the Senate president pro tempore, and more often done by first-term senators.

Palin was also asked the role of the vice president in her debate earlier this month with Senator Joe Biden, where she cited the vice president’s role presiding over the Senate as a way to "exert a bit more authority" to work with the Senate on the president’s agenda.
"I’m thankful the Constitution would allow a bit more authority given to the vice president if that vice president so chose to exert it in working with the Senate and making sure that we are supportive of the president’s policies and making sure too that our president understands what our strengths are," Palin said in the debate.
When asked to explain her remarks in an interview with Fox News the day after the debate, Plain reiterated her position that overseeing the Senate would give her "a tremendous amount of flexibility and authority" to work with the Senate.
"The vice president, of course, is not a member, or a part of the legislative branch, except to oversee the Senate," Palin told Fox News’ Carl Cameron. "That alone provides a tremendous amount of flexibility and authority if that vice president so chose to use it."

Submitted by The Vet on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 12:51pm.

the dingbat goldwater89 troll: 4. The Founding Fathers Said the Pledge of Allegiance

Another example of something the dingbat claims Sarah Palin said.

LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE

Sarah Palin was referring to the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. Not the entire Pledge. And one of the founding fathers did use "under God"

Another question asked, "Are you offended by the phrase 'Under God' in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?" Palin replied, "Not on your life. If it was good enough for the Founding Fathers, it's good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance."

Many liberals ignorant of the history of "under God" have tried to ridicule Palin's remark, even calling her an "idiot" for it.[64][65] In fact, the origin of the phrase "under God" is the General Orders of George Washington on July 2 and 9, 1776: "The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the courage and conduct of this army" (July 2); "the peace and safety of the Country now depends, under God, solely on the success of our arms" (July 9).[66] George Washington was indeed a Founding Father, and the Founding Fathers made no secret of their Christian faith and unfailing belief in God in the Declaration of Independence and later writings.

your dingbat quote: Kodiak Island is America's Largest Island.

If you had bothered to open the link, you would have seen that Kodiak island was listed as the largest for 30 YEARS in Webster's New World College Dictionary. So if she was wrong, the she was citing wrong information.

So I went to Webster's New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition, "The Official Dictionary of The Associated Press." There on page 794, it gave the area of Kodiak Island -- not the archipelago or islands, plural -- as 5,363 square miles.

The 5,363 figure has been used by Webster's for at least 30 years, including in their geographical dictionaries. I sent an e-mail asking for clarification and sources to the book's publisher, Macmillan, but have yet to hear back.

And you would had seen this --

When I lived on Kodiak, folks there acknowledged it to be the second biggest U.S. island in terms of area, but No. 1 in coastline.

Claimed Mrs. Palin said Constitution when in fact she said founders and founding documents.

Claimed the separation of church and state is an example of the founders not referring to God in the founding documents.

Claimed John Adams wrote the Tripoli Treaty when in fact James Barstow wrote it.

Tried to claim the Tripoli Treaty was a founding document as stated by Sarah Palin.

Claim right wing blogs are in the business of lying and can't be trusted.

Your response to getting shot down on your lies about Sarah Palin on the founders and founding documents vs your constitution LIES? A list of more bullshit people claimed Sarah Palin said.

Failed to read the link that showed Websters claims Kodiak is the largest island and has been publishing that for 30 years. Act as though someone citing that is stupid rather than misinformed.

Even her handlers aren't as big of apologists as you are. I feel so sorry for you. To be such a delusional fanatic. You really need to find a hobby fast. Anyone who claims that Sarah Palin has never made an ignorant statement is deranged on so many levels.

The fact that you think the founding fathers didn't want a separation of church and state is also VERY troubling. Just goes to show what a zealot you are. I gave you quotes by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson proving my assertion.

BTW, another McCain advisor who said she was clueless was Tucker Eskew.

the dingbat goldwater89 troll: 6. Susan B. Anthony Opposed Abortion

Another example of what the dingbat thinks Sarah Palin was wrong about.

Only she was correct again. From Lifenews.com ---

The pair gloss over an article in a newspaper owned for several years after the Civil War by Susan B. Anthony in which she describes abortion as "child murder" by merely saying no evidence exists that she wrote it.

The pair dismiss other evidence: Anthony remarked in her diary after a visit from her brother that her sister-in-law engaged in a self-induced abortion that did not go well and left her bedridden.

"She will rue the day she forces nature," Anthony writes, but the women claim Anthony wasn’t referring to the abortion but her sadness about her relative facing post-abortion complications.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president, Susan B. Anthony List, responded with her own Washington Post editorial.

"Susan B. Anthony was passionate and logical in her arguments against abortion. The Revolution was her brainchild, co-founded with Elizabeth Cady Stanton as a weekly women’s rights newspaper that acted as the official voice of the National Woman Suffrage Association and in which appeared many of her writings alongside those of her like-minded colleagues," she notes.

"Most logical people would agree, then, that writings signed by ‘A’ in a paper that Anthony funded and published were a reflection of her own opinions," she said.

Dannenfelser goes on to point out more quotes from Anthony that the authors failed to address.

In one house editorial in the Revolution, appearing on July 8, 1869, Anthony wrote, "Guilty? Yes. No matter what the motive, love of ease, or a desire to save from suffering the unborn innocent, the woman is awfully guilty who commits the deed. It will burden her conscience in life, it will burden her soul in death; but oh, thrice guilty is he who… drove her to the desperation which impelled her to the crime!"

Dannenfelser also cites Anthony’s words to Frances Willard in 1889: "Sweeter even than to have had the joy of children of my own has it been for me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so that their unborn little ones could not be willed away from them."

"So, while the Life cause isn’t the issue that earned Susan B. Anthony her stripes in American history books, historians would be wrong to conclude that Anthony was agnostic on the issue of abortion," the pro-life women’s leader said.

I'm really beginning to feel sorry for you. It must be difficult going through life being this delusional. Sissy? Wanting to call me "faggot"? I'm sure that's part of your regular vocabulary.

If Anthony were this pro-life activist as you would have be believe, don't you think she would've spoke out publicly against it? But no, all we have is a diary entry that's open to interpretation. That's the only time she EVER mentioned abortion.

"The only clear reference to abortion in Susan B. Anthony's writings, recently discovered by Ann, was quickly fitted into the anti-abortion narrative. After a visit with her brother, Anthony remarks in her diary that her sister-in-law aborted a pregnancy, things did not go well, and the woman was bedridden. Anthony concludes, "She will rue the day she forces nature." Clearly Anthony did not applaud her sister-in-law's action, but the notation is ambiguous. Is it the act of abortion that will be regretted? Or is it being bedridden, the risk taken with one's own life? At most, the quotation amounts to private disapproval within the family, unlikely to be voiced to her beloved relative. But there is no hint that this is a social problem or a political matter. No one could mistake the diary entry for "passionate abhorrence" to abortion, a commitment to "pro-life activism" -- as pro-lifers claim."

the dingbat goldwater troll: 8. The White House Has a Department of Law

At first, this might have been the first honest flub on her part. Whoops. Not so fast...

The left is going bananas because Palin said:

If she were in the White House, she said, the "department of law" would protect her from baseless ethical allegations."I think on a national level, your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out," she said. There is no "Department of Law" at the White House.

No, there is no Department of Law at the White House -- but there is in Alaska. Alaska's Department of Law "is part of the executive branch of Alaska state government" and "serves as the legal advisor for the governor and other state officers, prosecutes all violations of state criminal law, and enforces the consumer protection and unfair trade practices laws."

Is it really that crazy that Governor Palin would suggest that the White House equivalent of her Department of Law would handle the kind of frivolous ethics complaints she's been forced to deal with on her own?

In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them “there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.”

Boston University history professor Brendan McConville said, “Basically when Paul Revere was stopped by the British, he did say to them, ‘Look, there is a mobilization going on that you’ll be confronting,’ and the British are aware as they’re marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing — she was right about that — and warning shots being fired. That’s accurate.”

Besides, it's not surprising that a governor wouldn't be an expert on foreign policy.  Palin probably had more exposure to it than most considering where her state is.  And you know what's funny?  The evil dunce Palin actually took the time and visited her troops in the AK National Guard when they were deployed.  Your hero, His Majesty The Shahinshah, has made it very clear that he looks at the military with contempt and had to be dragged kicking and screaming out to "the desert" when He was a U.S. Senator.

AND your hero actually has made babying the American citizenry with "affordable health care" a national security issue.  So much for HIS expertise in foreign policy.

While you are asking goldwater to back up his bs, please ask him to name the 57 states, or was it 59?

I'll check back later.....  around Thanksgiving?....;-)

Coming to this party a bit

Submitted by PeskyDane on Sun, 02/26/2012 - 10:38am.

Coming to this party a bit late...
Goldwater, as someone who is clearly not a Palin supporter, I find it a bit embarrassing when people try to write her bio based on mis-conception and unsubstantiated assertions.
Let's try to keep our criticisms rational.

goldwater89 troll LIES again right through his green teeth

Submitted by The Vet on Sun, 02/26/2012 - 11:19am.

goldwater89: So because there's no video of something that happened, we should write off someone's first-hand account of it as a lie?

That is a lie. We have the "first-hand account" of what I said here. We have the direct words I typed here and yet you manage to lie about what I said with a straw man LIE. The above statement is not even close to what I said. You have my direct post right in front of you and yet you manage to LIE about it. Just like Steve Schmidt LIES about Sarah Palin.

Ever notice..

Submitted by Unsane on Sun, 02/26/2012 - 9:40pm.

Ever notice how this "Republican" goldwater89 won't utter a PEEP about well-documented gaffes that his God committed, as lovingly documented by Blonde?

But yet he will run with even the slightest claim about Palin and runs with them.

Yeah, if that doesn't indicate his "Republicanism", I don't know what does.

You're right,

Submitted by killa37 on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 12:49am.

You're right, Unsane...........I've also noticed that goldenshower -who claims to be one of 'us' - is constantly bashing ANYONE from 'our' side - except maybe Mittens - yet, when called out on it (and I have done it on various threads) WON'T go after Boy Barry in any specific way. And given his choice of handles, I would think that the guy would be a little more careful about who, and what, he goes after and how he does it.

Actually, I think he's just another phony, trying to deceive people here into thinking he's something that he's not - but, as is typical with a lot of interlopers here on NB, he fails to comprehend that the people here - on the most part - are informed, up-to-date, and sharp when it comes to information, truth, propaganda, posers, and drive-by 'experts' and 'legends in their own minds'.

goldwater, constantly lying

Submitted by Unsane on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 9:07pm.

Spoken like someone who saw the movie.  Unfortunately for you she never actually said those things.

Simply put, goldwater, you constantly, routinely, incessantly lie.  You are lying about this, just as you constantly lie about your not being a Leftist.  (Once again, here you are, a "Rockefeller Republican", attacking the Right, as you do any time you open your mouth here.)  You can't even attack conservatives without lying.

He might not be lying

Submitted by jpwcpa on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 10:39pm.

In order to lie about something, first you have to know what the truth is, then you have to make a conscious choice to deliberately say something that you know is NOT the truth. In goldwater's case, I don't think for a moment that he has spent any time whatsoever trying to find out if any of the information he was fed by his fellow lefty friends about The Alaskan Goddess is true or not. If he doesn't know what the truth is, it's tough for him to be lying about it.

Baltimore TV critic David Zurawik,

Submitted by needle on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 1:11pm.

Baltimore TV critic David Zurawik, who has seen HBOs forthcoming transparent propaganda, movie “Game Change, said “In a rational world, this film will help guarantee that Sarah Palin will never be elected to any major office again.”

Hmmm, “help guarantee” eh, Zurawik? Overly enjoying false narrative much? Slavering over leftist propaganda and mythology much? Blabbing volumes about your biases much?

Tip your hand much?

"In a rational world..." newspapers and other media outlets would be committed to providing honest objective news, and you would be out of a job.

The HBO crowd vs Sarah Pallin

Submitted by mmilesll on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 1:15pm.

I do NOT take HBO even when they try to give it to me free. It is nothing but pure crap. Mahner is a true representative of what this cable channel truly is. Many comments on here about Palin and what they think this poc will expose about her. Here is the bottom line-say what they will, more Americans know who Sarah Palin is than all the "actors" and "actresses" in this "thing". How many of these people involved in this joke have had people waiting in line to see them? A true hero always rises to the top and Sarah has done that in spades.

Not 100% sure

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 3:15pm.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe HBO is a channel on television that was given away for free by sleazy, hourly rate, motels, particularly in the 1980's.

Palin

Goodness. I do think her detractors may actually be certifiable. Let's face it, this woman has done absolutely nothing to deserve their hatred and disdain. She's squeaky clean. And these same...severely misguided folks...think Obama is wonderful? Does anyone else have the feeling that there's something just really strange about this? Like supernaturally strange?

Sarah Palin always has the last laugh

Submitted by Free Stinker on Mon, 02/27/2012 - 1:04pm.

Hey Libs! Thanks for driving her out of office with all those BS ethics complaints. (None of which were ever ruled against her). She's been a great help to us now that she's been freed up from her job as governor and can spend more time in the lower 48.

As far as I can tell she's not running for anything. And unless her endorsement means something..who cares?
I need to know cause I plan to lay down some major money on the outcome in November.
