Brent Bozell: Newt's Victory in South Carolina a Defeat for the Liberal Media
Newt Gingrich won South Carolina because he refused to succumb to assaults by the liberal media, and because conservatives are just as fed up as he is.
Speaker Gingrich hit a nerve dead-on by pushing back on ABC's blatant character assassination and standing up to John King's first debate question. He tapped into the anger and frustration of not only South Carolina voters, but of the rest of the country. The left-wing media have tried to manipulate this campaign cycle through the systematic character assassination of every conservative in the race. The public has had it.
By the same token, they've watched the same leftists in the so-called 'news' media cheerlead a radical community organizer to victory and are sick and tired of the free passes they continually grant to The Chosen One, who has wreaked havoc on our country.
There are two clear takeaways from South Carolina. First, it's that Newt's three competitors ought to push back against the media the same way he did this week. If they are smart, they will emulate the refreshing assertiveness that propelled Newt to victory. Second, Rush is right: the liberal media learned nothing, and will not stop. They are on a mission, and their mission to destroy these candidates continues.

"Second, Rush is right: the liberal media learned nothing, and will not stop. They are on a mission, and their mission to destroy these candidates continues."
They have had a pretty good record of success on that. They have more than a few scalps to brag about.
I think people have given up on the concept that the media is supposed to be somewhat fair and objective and now have just accepted that they mainly do the bidding of the left and the DNC.
That why people loved it when Newt called King "despicable" right in front of a huge audience. Then King staggered back on his heels with his pathetic defense of how they didn't break the story. The 13 year old story.
It showed just how sleazy and disrespectful the media has become used to behaving towards Republicans and conservatives.
They deliberately harass them right on camera and then laugh about it. People are sick and tired of watching these high paid ,out of touch,left-wing shills try to make a circus out of our very important debates.
Brent I disagree....

With your first line. I think not only are conservatives fed up but the independents as well. The obvious smear tactics of ABC and CNN can only be seen as biased and partisan attacks. Obama , John Kerry etc., have never received this kind of treatment and I think the country as a whole sees this as fact. The main stream media now has lower rating than congress. Brent otherwise you are dead on as usual.

...who believe strongly in contrition and salvation. The media assumed Newt's past would immediately cost him that voting bloc, but that's not what happened. They came out for him in droves, and instead cost the media an entire wing of their offense, with nothing to replace it. This means even more sleepless nights for the DNC. Valerie Jarett must be bouncing off the White House walls.

That interview gave me more information I need to gauge the mindset of the candidate--redemption, confession, groveling or no--and thus the press did its job...Yes, it had been in Esquire, I guess, but I never read it or knew about it. Then he pounced on the press instead of answering--and everyone went nuts, which I consider pretty gullible. And I heard booos when he did it. Oh, well... we'll see how it plays... But out of the frying pan into the fire with this guy is my feeling. I was so sick at heart Sat my daughter said--"You are crying over this? Voting makes no difference." My kid--I felt like a complete failure as a mother.

But they better be wary... or, The Big 0's 'extra-curricular' social activities might not stay on the 'down-low'.

against two opponents in our elections; the opposing candidates and the MFM.
This has existed in past elections but more so since the MFM anointed Obama and has continued to be his champion.
That the MFM has few or no in depth stories about Obama's past OR have unearthed ANY documentation of his much vaunted scholarship only heightens the perception of their willful partisanship.
This is the way all conservative candidates must act JUST TO STAY IN THE GAME let alone win.
It was McCain's foremost error in his run for President in '08.
Conservative voters must also take this stance as the MFM will also be attacking your opinion and dedication. They will concoct or inflate a story that will be aimed at altering your opinion or the candidate, make you feel your efforts are useless and wasted, make you feel your opinion is isolated and will do anything to dishearten you.
Remember they KNOW how to manipulate people's thoughts with words and by editing events. It's what they're paid for and they're exerting all their effort in the defeat of conservatism.
Believe NONE of what the MFM says that isn't proven. Accept NONE of what MFM shows that isn't corroborated by a trusted source.

Sorry, Mr Bozell, but your post is a big fail. You see, if you were a liberal-socialist-atheist like myself you'd've been on the distribution list for the secret memo that revealed that anointing The Newt was the intent of the MSM after all!
While Romney is a half-way decent guy and a closet liberal who can be counted on to do more or less what we say anyway, he actually DOES stand a chance of beating Obama in November.
That cannot be allowed! What better -- and dare I say more Machiavellian plan could be hatched to prevent this than causing the nomination of the biggest gasbag this side of Jupiter?
Newt is a serial adulterer with the morals of an alley cat who still finds time to lecture the rest of us about family values. Newt is so corrupt he was reprimanded and fined $300,000 by a 395–28 House vote -- the first time in history a speaker was disciplined for ethical wrongdoing. And these are just some of the charges his fellow REPUBLICANS level at him.
On behalf of Democrats everywhere, I say -- GO NEWT, GO!

Submitted by mattm on Sun, 01/22/2012 - 2:34pm.
If they wanted the easiest target they would not be secretly pushing for Gingrich - a man who proved in 1994 that liberalism can be defeated by going hard-core conservative. (For which he became the target of one of the most organized and intense political witch-hunts in history) Newt will attack Odumbo's failed policies. The left will attack Gingrich's personal life, his looks, his personality.... it's all they have.
If you're theory was correct, they would be pushing for Santorum, who could be browbeaten to death over his religious views. Or Bachmann, who could easily be Palinized. Or Paul, who is seen as too "fringe" even though he's probably just portrayed that way. They definitely did not want Cain, though. A black republican who actually has a track record of real-life success and can actually prove he's an American and believes in America would be too difficult for the baby-boy-president to beat - so they already crucified him....
Besides, there are plenty of RINOs at high levels within the GOP who can sabatoge real constitutionalist/conservative candidates; they don't need help from the libtard media.

Hmmmmm....so what he was reprimanded. The reprimand was based on untruths. Duh!!! All charges but one were dropped. The last one? The IRS found he had done nothing wrong two years after the reprimand. No different than a person who is sent to prison for a crime he did not commit, but the judge does not find out that he was not guilty until two years after sentencing the individual. I guess in your mind you would still point at the person and say, you were convicted in a court of law who cares they found you not guilty two years later!

Newt is not fit, personally, ethically, intellectually, politically to be President. By putting him to be in a position to be the republican nominee we hurt the Republican Party and if he wins we hurt the USA.

Do one best than you claim Newt supporters are doing and insult a woman with one of the worst things you can call a woman. How typical of the Newt haters. A gentleman, you are not.
so, I guess you have ALL of the facts, both from Newt and Marianne, you have listened to them both tell their story and you have without bias, come to the conclusion that it was all Newt's fault, right? No bias in your decision to blindly claim that it is was Newt's fault, right?
More likely than not, like 99% of failed marriages, it is both of their fault, but easier to tell yourself that Newt is the evil one of that marriage without any proof other than that of a disgruntled ex-wife.
The knifes are coming out of the anti-Newts and they are desperate, the same despesration that has infested Obama supporters.
And how will Newt put us back
Submitted by buddyc on Sun, 01/22/2012 - 6:41pm.
And how will Newt put us back to work? Now will Newt restore civil dialogue? How will Newt oppose cap/trade when he has done commericals in support of it. How will Newt reform entitlements when he insulted Paul Ryan. How will Newt work with republicans in Congress let alone all of Congress when republican congressional leaders don't like him. How will he govern after being indicted for failure to register as a lobbyist? Will he reform Fan/Fred after taking millions from them?
Time to seek someone who is not part of the problem. The country needs to bring in a non political insider to make structural changes.
As Glen Beck said it is important that we elect "quality" people from both parties. Is there ANYONE who really believes Newt is a "quality" person?
He is a bag man for special interests and a political hack. He is a has been. He was important 30 years ago and has done nothing but sell out to special interests since then.
I guarantee his nomination will split the republican party in two. I put up with McCain. I will never sit back and take 2nd rate has beens again.
Sounds good

"Time to seek someone who is not part of the problem. The country needs to bring in a non political insider to make structural changes."
Unfortunately, there's not a non-political insider on the ballot. What is a non-political insider anyway? A bit of a contradiction, don't you think?
"I will never sit back and take 2nd rate has beens again."
So instead, you'll sit back and take 1st rate liberalism in the form of Obama. Because that has worked out swell so far, right?
"As Glen Beck said it is important that we elect "quality" people from both parties. Is there ANYONE who really believes Newt is a "quality" person?"
Does Glenn Beck do your thinking for you? Compared to Obama, Newt is top of the line, lol.
Newt has problems, and if he's the nominee, he's probably going to lose. But anyone who says they'd rather throw their vote away than vote for him if Newt is the nominee is a moron, and a child.
Buddyc, Using your logic

Buddyc,
Using your logic against Newt, why would you be listening to anything Glen Beck says, does or tells you? Using your logic, Glen Beck lacks character, morals, etc. Do you know Glen Beck's past? Newt is a saint compared to the things Glen Beck did in the past.
If Newt has problems and he is not a leader, well Glen Beck is a pathetic joke that no one should care about. Of course this is not how I feel about Glen Beck, I am merely using your logic to prove how absurd your attacks against Newt are.
Civil dialogue? Screw that.

Civil dialogue? Screw that. The libturds have been demonizing us Tea Partiers from day 1. They have been calling us terrorists, racists, wife beaters, etc every chance they get.
I want someone that will call them on it and show how stupid the libturds really are.
Civil dialogue? Yeah right, McRino was civil and look where that got us.
Who do you want to be on the GOP ticket?

I'm still not sure if I want

I'm still not sure if I want him for my president - although he'd be better than the man holding that office right now - but God love him for standing up to the liberal, biased media!
I gave him a standing ovation!

I was on my feet, hootin' and hollerin' from home as I watched that debate. It's about fricking time someone on our side stood up to the left wing media!!! I noticed that Mitt Romney, when he gave his "I lost South Carolina" speech, tried to sound aggressive like Newt and he tried to get the same type of crowd response that Newt got during the debate. However, Mitt could not pull it off---you could tell he was trying, but it's just not in him. This is completely foreign territory to Mitt, and he is like a deer caught in the headlights. He is just like the current Speaker of the House that we have, John Boehner, who is utterly clueless on how to deal with the left and how to handle a majority in the House.
The DNC wants Romney...

Much as they wanted McCain. They can put Romney in a box and hold his feet to the fire counting on his sense of fair play. But like Obama said in a Philly fundraiser "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun."
(Stole that line from the untouchables.)
Well in these 2012 elections Romney will be the knife, Newt will be the gun.
John Mccain was a patsy for the MMS and the DNC. They don't and won't play fair.
If you want Obama to win keep up the attacks, but this time I'm not holding my nose and voting for a man and campaign that can be intimidated by the left wings sensibilities. This one is too important , If Obama gets a second term God help our country.

The media which is in the tank for Obama and desperately hopes he is re-elected has attempted to promote the candidacy of the one man [Romney] the polls had consistently shown possessed the best chance of denying Obama a second term.

Polls change everyday and they know it. They know they can put Romney in a corner much like they did with McCain. They don't want to tangle with Gingrich because he calls them out for what they are. The media arm of the DNC.

The only poll that matters is

The only poll that matters is the one they hold on the 1st Tuesday in November. Seriously, I wish they would stop doing polls, let the people listen to the candidates and make their own decisions. I wonder how many folks will just vote for the person that is most "popular"?
Jer, the media IS in the tank for ---

Obama, and no, you don't have it right.
Polls not only change, they are not necessarily accurate when published, consistent or not.
The media has no problem playing up Romney, because if he gets the nomination, when they deem the time right, they will savage his arse just like they have every other Republican candidate front runner so far.
Your attempt at playing naive is funny.
