Media Mash: Palin Bus Tour Derangement Edition

By NB Staff | June 03, 2011 | 11:03

A  A

Sarah Palin is "running against the press, mocking them," NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell argued on the June 2 edition of "Hannity," pointing to the media's consternation over the former Alaska governor's bus tour.

"She's having a field day running against them" and "knows exactly what she's doing," the Media Research Center founder added, pointing to polls showing Americans largely distrust liberal media outlets like the broadcast networks.

Bozell and Hannity also discussed how the media have persistently dismissed Palin's chances of winning the presidency in 2012, even as they obsessively tail her tour bus:

SEAN HANNITY: [The media are saying] but please, Gov. Palin, come on our shows. Come on, because, you're good for ratings. People want to hear from you, but you can't be president, but come on anyway. Pretty interesting.

BRENT BOZELL: Two points here, Sean. These are the same quote unquote experts who told you that Nixon couldn't win. They're the same experts who said that Reagan couldn't win in 1980.

HANNITY: Or Clinton, or Carter.

BOZELL: These are the same experts that four years ago told us that Obama couldn't win against Hillary Clinton, and now they're passing judgment on her? And if they're so right about this, you're right, Sean, why do they have her on the air every two minutes? What does that say about them?

I keep thinking the same thing as well. I love Hannity, but he should let Bozell have the majority of the air time. That's also why I don't watch O'Reilly much anymore. He finds it very difficult to ratchet down his ego long enough for a guest to actually complete a thought.

Reminds me of the pastor that threatened to burn the unholy koran. The media camped out for days, whining and moaning, " ..Speak to us, do something, YOU"RE JUST PLAYING WITH US! WE'RE GOING HOME!", the pastor basically said, "So go home, I didn't invite ya." None of them did. It's almost a sin how much enjoyment I get watching the press cause their own suffering like this.

Palin vs. Romney

Submitted by Red Jeep on Fri, 06/03/2011 - 12:21pm.

Some journalists and quasi conservatives like Elisabeth Hasselbeck are all upset claiming that Pain arrived in New Hampshire just when Romney was announcing his candidacy for president in New Hampshire to steal Romney's thunder.

Of course it never occurs to these people that Palin's trip was planned without knowing that Romney was going to announce or when, and likewise with Romney.

And then of course you have the truly demented. The one guy who wrote that Sarah is "endangering" reporters by making them chase her on the highway. And this guy at MSLSD, Martin Bashir, who, with a grave expression on his face, alleges that Sarah is violating Federal law by having a picture of a flag on her bus. Submitted by wizardjr on Fri, 06/03/2011 - 1:28pm.

Saracudda knows how to track and catch critters on your terms. She's doing it with the LSM.

For those who've never had ferrets, you catch them by NOT chasing them. They love to play chase so you don't do that. Instead once you know their general whereabouts what you do is stare at something else, maybe even fish around under a chair or couch (where they're not). Pretty soon they'll be standing there next to you.... "Hey human, whatcha doin' there... Hmmm??" Then you just have to reach over and pick them up. They're yours. Oh yeah, they'll still be focused on your make believe point of interest.

Go Sarah, go!

Submitted by Gat New York on Fri, 06/03/2011 - 3:23pm.

No one is buying into the B.S. that t will be hard to beat Obama anymore.

Frankly the late Pat Paulson could be Obama - anyone can.

As far as Sarah Palin, she is a media star more and maybe that is what it takes to run for President today.

Still my preference is t have someone who has a track record of running a business understand the complexities of our economy and the global economy to actually place our country on a path to reverse the bad effects of the FDR New Deal. To me Romney does head that list regardless of what he did in Massachusetts. Some governors would also be on that list like Rick Perry and Jeb Bush and I would add Ryan to that list too. Herman Cain is good but he never ran a government entity and there is a difference.

This country does not need another ideologue with fancy slogans. This country desperately needs results.

I believe in people learning

Submitted by Gat New York on Fri, 06/03/2011 - 8:10pm.

I believe in people learning from their past and developing.

I would hope that Romney learned from the past because he does have an impressive resume oterhwise (another backhanded compliment).

As far Palin, she ran Alaska very impressively but since has become more of a media starlet and less serious than she was as governor. I believe she could get the nomination and anyone can beat Obama. But she has to show a more serious side with public policy and not lame pundit catchphrases.

When you are the CEO of a company most times it is a vote of one while you have the position. As President (or mayor or governor) it is more complex. Cain clearly has the brains and vision. But can he execute effectively if her were elected President.

I added Ryan because he is too darn smart to exclude and understands what we need to do with the budget.

Whomever gets the nomination, I would very strongly suggest Allen West as VP. West is not only very smart and well versed about the issues we believe in, but he would make Biden look bad in a debate, break up the African American vote to some degree, and, most importantly, take away Obama strategic use of the race card.

Please don't throw anything at me here, I'm just pointing out that this kind of comment the mainstream media would gladly use to just obliterate people and I think they would be successful in doing so.
