Congressman King's insistence for an apology yesterday is exactly what we have been calling on the media to do since they first misrepresented the fictitious, racist quotes attributed to Rush Limbaugh. Rep. King set the record straight, exposing the outright fabrications and distortions attributed to Limbaugh. [see our "Tell the Truth" Web page detailing the media's smears of Limbaugh]
He was absolutely correct to hold the NFL accountable for caving to pressure from the left-wing extremists out to destroy a conservative leader - as well as the media who were complicit in these attempts.
The Congressman aptly noted that if the parsing of words was the real reason the NFL forbade Rush from placing a bid for the Rams, then they must hold all NFL owners to the same level of scrutiny. For starters, Miami Dolphins owners Fergie and J-Lo should be among the first disqualified given the disturbing, violent and pornographic lyrics they publicly perform on a regular basis.
We offer our thanks and commendation to Rep. King for having the backbone to say enough is enough and call out the NFL for their cowardly hypocrisy. We need more Congressmen like him to herald the truth for those who refuse to acknowledge it."

Rush wasn't making fun of Fox's disease, he was making fun of the fact that Fox went off his medications in order to appear as sickly as possible for that event. Fox attempted to manipulate people's emotions and Rush called him out on it. (Fox later admitted to doing exactly what Rush accused him of.)
P.S. I did not hear the segment in question, I never listened to Rush's show till this year, and I'm a sporadic listener, at best. This topic came up shortly after I joined NB and I researched it at the time.

But what I understood Fox to be doing was a demonstration of how Parkinson's affects the human body. Medication helps mask the effects of the disease, but it certainly doesn't cure it. I know this discussion is leading to abortion, which I don't care to get into, but further research into the disease is what Fox was asking for, most specifically stem cell research. And Rush made fun of him for it.

I started here as Kennedy Death Watch. Several members were offended, so I agreed to change my name to appease them, and to prove I had no ill will towards Ted and the Kennedy empire. The irony of the new name, I Love Ted Kennedy was confused with genuine, actual love for Ted Kennedy. In fact, so many members felt compelled to discuss Kennedy on a daily basis that it became a distraction. I even started a forum topic to discuss name changes. Anyway, that's it.
As far as Rush goes, I just wanted some clarification. I haven't been following the Rush story too closely, for I have my own issues with my team's ownership - and I really don't care who owns the Rams. But I found it misguiding to state that the NFL dumped him, when in fact it was the investment group. I'm sure with all of his power, money, and lawyers, Rush could find a way to get back in on the deal. Or consider purchasing a baseball team. They seem to let anything go these days.

How many times has a player underperformed, or just refused to play unless he receives a new contract? There are lots of problems with how the NFL is run. In this case, the players certainly don't get to choose their owner, but they can most definitely decide to sit out in protest. What's an owner to do?

In case you weren't paying attention, Rush's bid attempt was only thwarted when his investment group dropped him. Until that point, he was still in consideration. As a poster noted above, Goodell doesn't decide who gets to purchase a franchise. Yes, Goodell's comments, player's comments, and the media's coverage contributed to the investment group's action in dropping Rush, but ultimately it was their decision.

After reading the story I stopped by Newsbusters to see what people were saying about it, and sure enough, there were dozens of comments regarding Rush's reading of the fake papers.
Only now, that entire thread is gone. If you have been gone for 9 days, there's no way you would know about it. But I do find it suspicious that the comments have gone missing.
