Paul Weyrich, Rest In Peace

Paul Weyrich was a foundational pillar of the modern conservative movement. He was a leader, a patriot and a friend, with an unwavering conscience that held fast to traditional values in good times and bad. Even as Republican leaders vacillated on issues like taxes, abortion and government spending, Paul never wavered, and when he admonished those leaders – even presidents among them – he spoke for legions of conservatives across America.

He was a man of principle who not only stood firmly on the ground of conservatism, but who took giant strides to advance and spread these values in the public square and in the hearts of countless Americans. The fruits of Paul’s labor will continue to flourish, and the words of his namesake – St. Paul of Tarsus – were never more true: Paul Weyrich fought the good fight, he finished the course, and he always kept the faith.

Whoa!

First I heard of this and I have never revealed this to anyone online (as it rather pretentious to brag), but I worked for him for a few years.   I was just speaking with a friend who worked there with me who is trying to get in touch with his family.  He, like myself, are very saddened by this news.

A tough, but fair man and I enjoyed working for him.  I saw Brent a few times at our DC office (doubt he remembers me), but I was just the accountant there.

He was very ill for a long time.  May he truly rest in peace.

Tom

Tom, I would appreciate it

Tom, I would appreciate it if you would, if you get time, to let me know what all Paul was suffering from for the last ten years or so...I only know what I have posted....please just PM me.

I'm about ready to close out for the night, I just want to say what a crying shame so many people on the right didn't know who Paul Weyrich was, what he stood for, what he did for the good side of life...nobodies fault...just the way things are I suppose, still sad.

Good night Paul...

I will miss you immensely.

I just clicked on my email, saw this breaking news, looked up things about all of this real quick, came here and hoped and prayed you had a thread here...thank you.

Tears are streaming down my face....my heart is broke.

I called into NET many times, I wished that network would have made it big time...Paul Weyrich was my political hero.

RIP Paul, prayers have already be sent...you will be missed so much by me.

A pillar of the conservative

A pillar of the conservative movement. One who walked the walk as well as talk the talk. I read somewhere, some years ago that he had been in a lot of pain, had some kind of spinal disease and may have had a leg amputated. After this election and seeing what he helped worked so long and hard for in near shambles may have been what hastened his demise. RIP Paul Weyrich.

It was a spinal injury and a fall...

FYI...

The pain is gone, RIP Paul.

"I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of
the people. They never have been from the beginning of our country and
they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections
quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down." -Paul Weyrich

BUBBA

Making each troll as depressed as possible! It's time to take this country back from those undeserving of its immense sacrifices!

winston... I remember

winston...

I remember when he still had NET, he came back to work after an absence in the winter for a time, in a wheel chair I think it was, he had said he slipped and fell on the sidewalk in front of his house, (it has been quite a long time now, so I may not have this all correct) had broken his back, had surgery or was going to have some more surgery ect...adn he would be recovering, I saw him a couple of years later on Washington Journal (this is after he had lost NET) and he was still in a wheelchair, I had never heard what all the problem was since, I guess I just assumed the surgery was unsuccessful..., now it seems the problem medically may have been much deeper than he ever let on.

Btw...when he was on the Wa. Journal that morning Eric Alter was sitting across from him, I was so furious with the slug, so was Paul, he would get beet red when angered...Brian Lamb was hosting, it was a priceless hour.

We donated what we could to his network, we were doing pretty well at the time..so it was with great gladness that we could...I still have an NET cup, wished I had more now...had another one but it got broke...dang it all.

There have been a handful of people who got their start with NET...pollster Kelly Fitzpatrick (sp) is one of them I can think of right off hand, Huffington used to be on quite a bit back then, she was going to start her own half hour show on the network, called Beat the Press...of course that was when she was a staunch conservative...hahahahhaaa...another long story in-itself...Mitchell's in the Morning was another show, with Dan and Nancy Mitchell, they have since divorced, he is now with Cato I think, he is on now and then on Fox ect, Nancy worked as one of McC's  of political advisers, her last name is now Pfotenhauer or something like that, she was on all the networks ect., plus others, I can see one in my head I want to mention, just can't think of his name.

Plus the show did a lot of investigative work over-seas with the Clintons and the Chinese connections, including Feinstien and her husband with business dealings connections and the restrictions on the desert tortoise that shut done the last remaining mine in Ca. that had a certain mineral or such that was used for technology and other things...he spent a lot of money, the reports were excellent....

I wished I had been a millionaire to donate, it broke our hearts when he had to shut down and say good-bye to the network...we both cried with him.

God knows this country more than ever needs a network like he tried to start and didn't make it at because of finances.

I truly will miss this great man.

Thanks for correcting me on

Thanks for correcting me on Weyrich's injury. I will always be indebted to the man for The Heritage Foundation and his ideas about cultural demise and "cultural Marxism". Much of what he predicted many years ago is happening today. He was using the term "Culture War" years before O'Reilly.  He predicted and wrote often about the leftist assault on religion, the institution of marriage and political brain-washing taking place in our public schools. He will be missed. Conservatives better start hunting for an adequate replacement -- QUICK!

Hey winston.... Real

Hey winston....

Real quick here, I wasn't correcting you...I was trying to report what he reported happened years ago...other things evidently may have developed since then medically for him, know what I mean?

I don't know if he had to have something like his leg amputated it makes me also thing of diabetes...so I don't know what all was wrong with him in the end.

Anyway...I'm glad to share an affinity for this wonderful man and all he stood for with someone else here.

I post about NET every now and then if it reminds me of something in a subject/post....I just did last night in fact regarding Newt Gingrich, I used to watch his history classes via NET on Saturdays....I loved it, still wished he would just stick to teaching history (he is great at it, would help a lot of young minds) and retire from politics...I don't care for him in so many ways, but that is here nor there in this thread, that was last night on another thread.

The only other person I knew on NBs from just about the beginning of my time on here, (which has been lengthy) that also watched NET, was sarcasamo.

Anyway...catch you later friend, it's been great chatting with you...by the way, if you hear what all was wrong with Paul eventually, let me know if you would...I sure would appreciate it.

I didn't know the man, had

I didn't know the man, had only seen him a handful of times, but I am sorry for the loss of a good man. I am glad his pain has ended, and my sympathy goes out to those of you who knew him more intimately. God Bless,.
