Bozell Column: Kathy Griffin's Unfunny Jesus Jokes

Photo of Brent Bozell.

Nearly everyone with a television can make jokes about TV awards shows, especially the speech-making. How many times have people made the hoariest jokes about thanking the "little people," or mimicking Sally Field’s Oscar speech: "You like me! You really like me!" But Kathy Griffin, the comedienne with the self-satirizing "My Life on the D-List" show on that D-list network Bravo, took the ritual to a new low when she won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program.

She mocked Jesus Christ.

"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award," she declared. "I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. So, all I can say is, 'suck it, Jesus.' This award is my god now." The audience reaction? Reporters noted laughter in the crowd. Griffin certainly knew Hollywood die-hards would be pounding the tables over that one.

It’s certainly a ritual for entertainers to thank God or Jesus when they win awards. Some of them are very sincere, like gospel singers at the Grammy Awards. Others have looked more than a little ridiculous, such as during the Vibe Magazine Awards in 2005 when several rappers took home awards for "songs" with nasty lyrics about shooting people -- and then thanked God.

Griffin could have mocked the ritual without mocking Jesus and millions of Christians. But she had to shock, to say "Suck it" and suggest she’d rather worship her Emmy award like it was a pagan goddess. Was she sorry? No. Reuters reported she was "unrepentant" when asked about the speech backstage. In fact, she was well pleased with herself. "I hope I offended some people. I didn't want to win the Emmy for nothing." Griffin’s official website giddily declared her line "will go down as one of the best quotes in Emmy history."

The public doesn’t think so and Hollywood knows it.

The cable channel E! announced they would scrub the remark from their taped broadcast of the Creative Arts Emmy awards. (It wasn’t part of the more prominent Emmy show that aired on Fox.) Some media outlets also scrubbed the actual remarks from their news stories. Associated Press reporter Lynn Elber would only explain Griffin made "an off-color remark about Christ." Some TV outlets, like MSNBC, also scrubbed the line in their retelling of the story. Good for them.

That wasn’t as strange as Reuters, which began its dispatch with the words "Comic Kathy Griffin's ‘offensive’ remarks about Jesus" will be edited out. Employing quote marks around a word is meant as a warning light that something isn’t necessarily so. An insult against Jesus Christ isn’t necessarily "offensive," according to this wire service.

Reuters, you may remember, also doesn’t believe the 9/11 murderers were necessarily "terrorists."

Kathy Griffin has this kind of double standard, too. Many irreverent performers aren’t equal-opportunity besmirchers. Griffin appeared clutching her Emmy on the Ellen DeGeneres talk show a day after the furor broke, and when DeGeneres suggested it can be tough on the other side of the joke, as she was the butt of a lot of jokes when she declared she was gay, Griffin turned dead serious and insisted: "Not mine. Not mine." Griffin would never mock a gay person. But Jesus and Christians? Bombs away.

Griffin explained that she had rules about her targets, and one was "I don’t make fun of people who have a sense of humor about themselves." So, in this case, with one enormously broad brush, Kathy Griffin has decided that the vast majority of Christians are incapable of taking a joke. But there is funny, and there is insulting. Griffin doesn’t have a clue of the difference.

The funny thing is that for someone who doesn’t like religious phonies, Griffin is the biggest phony of them all. In a scabrous interview with a gay newspaper in Houston, Griffin called herself a "complete militant atheist" and complained "we have to listen to everybody's ‘God this’ and ‘Jesus that.’" She told that interviewer she fell away from the "stupid" Catholic church in high school in the 1970s. But then Reuters quoted one spin-control attempt issued by her publicist after her Emmy insult: "Am I the only Catholic left with a sense of humor?" And guess what she wore on her necklace on the Ellen show? A visible golden cross.

and right after that insult...

She was immediately forgiven by our lord.

My reply is at the bottom...

...so nobody is going to see it, but here goes:  Cons. in Mass said,

"She was immediately forgiven by our lord."[sic]  That is true, Con...I know because even as He was dying on the cross, He prayed, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."  That implies clearly that we are indeed forgiven our sins; but I've always believed that one should ask forgiveness for trespasses.  That would go a long way toward demonstrating genuine remorse and repentance.

Also, regarding your comment, just because our Lord forgave her as soon as she uttered the words, it is my opinion (and ONLY my OPINION), that she wasn't issued a "Get Into Heaven Free" card simply because Jesus forgave her.  I believe she would have had to accept His forgiveness, and then...remembering the words of Jesus when He was talking to the woman who had been caught in the very act of adultery, He asked, "Woman, where are thine accusers?"  She replied, "There is nobody here accusing me, Lord."  And then He said the operative words..."Neither do I accuse thee; go, AND SIN NO MORE."  (Emphasis mine.)

Yeah, I know this is kind of technical; and somebody (if somebody actually reads this) is going to accuse me of "judging" Kathy Griffin...and it's from the BIBLE...and what if somebody doesn't accept the Bible as true...and what if I'm an atheist, and what if I'm a Muslim...and what if, what if, what if...

Hey, this is just my opinion in reply to a comment.

Respect the reply M4

"Also, regarding your comment, just because our Lord forgave her as soon as she uttered the words, it is my opinion (and ONLY my OPINION), that she wasn't issued a 'Get Into Heaven Free' card"

True. Ultimately it is between her and her <fill in the blank>. I respect your opinion.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.  ~ Unknown

What are we saying?

What are we saying here? People with a knowledge of the Holy Bible have a terrible responsibility to teach accuracy; I'm sorry!

For one to be forgiven of a sin, they must first confess (they are truly sorry), then they must repent (turn away from the sin) and lastly, ask God for forgiveness, in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ and through the power of The Holy Spirit.

If there is any other way, I do not know of it's existence in The Bible. If it was automatic, then Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross for no reason.

On the Showbusiness program

On the "Showbiz Tonight" on CNN Headline News last night (I was looking for Glen Beck), the guests were William Donahue of The Catholic League and an African American commentator, whose name I didn't catch. The lightweight host, AJ Hammer, in a snide tone, asked Mr. Donahue what he thought of Griffin's comments in light of the "fact" that Griffin is a "comedienne". Mr. Donahue compared her hateful remarks with those of Imus and Michael Richards. The host, in an incredulous tone asked Mr. Donahue if he was really saying her remarks were as bad as racism. Mr. Donahue said he thought they were worse, because they offended "85% of the country". I turned it off before I was subjected to the replies. I'm trying to be careful with my blood pressure these days. I'm sure this was a set-up, with the African American commentator waiting to jump on Mr. Donahue, thereby obscuring the original offense by Kathy Griffin. These "show biz" shows are hot beds for "big fun liberalism"...

These are the rules of

These are the rules of engagement in two-faced liberal land...

bad:

anti-semitism - or any remarks against non-Christians, racism against non-whites, sexist remarks against non-men, slurs against dictators and terrorists

just fine:

anti-Christianism, racism against whites, sexist remarks towards men, slurs against capialists and democracy

Is the suggestion that

Is the suggestion that people should be censored?  Should we not be able to mock Jesus?

I don't personally engage in this behavior, but if somebody else wants to, that's their right.

This is America.  You should be able to say whatever you want about whomever you want.  Especially if you're a comedian.

When Christians get up in arms about things like this, they sound just like the radical muslims that cried about the Danish Mohammad cartoon(obviously minus the resulting violence etc.).

My mother taught me to ignore people like this.  It's great advice.

Who really cares what Kathy Griffin has to say?  She's a nobody.

It is, of course, your

It is, of course, your right to ignore her comments, just as it is our right to be offended by and respond to them. If you don't think we should comment about the media or those who work in it, I suggest you frequent a site that comments about nothing.

CN, I never said you

CN,

I never said you didn't have the right to be offended.

I was asking what the solution is?  So Kathy Griffin said this, so now what?

What should be done about this type of offensive speech?

Or are you just venting?

Nothing should be "done"

Nothing should be "done" about it - except to criticize it and analyze the way the media handles the controversy. Are you one who equates criticism with censorship? You scold us for being offended and compare us to radical Muslims. Have you read anyone here suggesting we execute Ms. Griffin? Your comparison is very offensive and totally out of line. Then you suggest we ignore what she said - a frequent suggestion of other liberals on other topics here. Read the purpose of this site. If you think we should ignore these issues, then you miss the whole purpose here. That's why I suggest you frequent another site who's purpose is to ignore these things and not comment about them.

Chris, Why the

Chris,

Why the hostility?  I haven't said anything to warrant your attitude.

Criticizing is fine, but normally there's an ultimate goal for the criticism.  In this case, I'm  not seeing it.

Should we boycott Kathy Griffin or something?  Didn't the general public do that a looooong time ago hence her D-List status.

My comparison is not offensive or out of line.  Read the post at the bottom of this thread.  That Newsbusters user said he would support making the mocking of Jesus illegal.  Isn't that essentially what the Muslims were striving for?  To make it illegal to mock Mohammad?

Seriously, what is the purpose of this criticism?  Her remarks were handled appropriately and cut out of the broadcast.  The media did the right thing in the case.  So now what?

You compare Christians being

You compare Christians being offended by Griffin's comment to radical Muslims - who have brutally murdered people who they accuse of offending their religion - and ask why the hostility? You hold up one person, without citing their name, as an example of this site calling for censorship? Your arguments are dishonest. End of discussion.

What to do about Kathy

Kathy needs to learn how to celebrate diversity. What did society do with Kramer and his nigger commentary? This is what needs to happen with Kathy...

who can say what is the issue

double standards is the issue

how is this joke any different than anti-Semtism? Or PC hate speech?

we need to nip this religious bigotry in the bud - before Christians are being marched off to the gas chambers...

TM, Yet we are scolded

TM,

Yet we are scolded for being offended and counseled just to ignore her remarks. Strange, I didn't hear anyone giving the Rutger women's basketball team that advice, did you?

Right on Chris

pardon my french but f*ckin A right...

hey rutger ladies, learn how to take a joke:)!

Imus has a right to say what he wants right? Just like Kathy Griffen - or should we maybe censor only him for some two-faced reason? maybe run him off the air because you were (gasp) "offended?"

learn how to suck it why dontcha:)? just like the fundies have to:)

I agree

She can say what she wants. Not because she is suppose to be a comic.Could of fooled me on that one.The fact is being a free country you have to put up with that.As far as boycotting her that is also everyones right. Also being a free country people have the right to criticise her.No one is haveing mass demonstrations burning her effigy. To be honest she isnt worth the attention. She is just another bigot from the left. But that is okay.Left wingers are allowed to be bigots.

I just wondered if NYT's will give a discount on a full page ad denouceing what she said?

Um...there is a wide gulf

Um...there is a wide gulf between censorship (which Brent never suggested, and I don't think he ever has) and having sense not to tell a "joke" that is so obviously over the top.  Great leap you made there.  Amazing that when she's criticized, you claim it's her "right".  Well aren't you the Master Of The Obvious?!  Where in the world would you get from Brent's comments that she didn't have the right to be an offensive ass?

"This is America.  You should be able to say whatever you want about whomever you want.  Especially if you're a comedian."  Comedians have more freedom to speak than the rest of us?  Really reaching...

I'm aetheist as well, but even I can see how this would offend greatly, and if she can't come up with better material she belongs on a D list.

And yeah, Brent sounds JUST LIKE radical Muslims...especially when he put out that death order on her for drawing a cartoon of Jesus.

Twit.

I'm also an atheist, and I

I'm also an atheist, and I have no problem whatsoever with what she said.  I didn't think it was particularly funny, mainly because I don't think the mere act of screaming "You Suck!" at ANYone is particularly inspired or witty.

But I have no problem with what she said.

I have a problem with a media that tries to smooth it over...

If someone wants to make a public statement, let them make it, with full context, to stand on their own....  And face whatever repercussions it may bring, whether it be the laughter of an approving audience, or a retaliatory boycott.  The media has a nasty habit of trying to shield their favorites from personal responsibility and culpability.

An informed public demands full quotes, in context, every time, regardless of source, and regardless of content.  If they want to put a disclaimer on it first (you may want to change the channel if you're easily offended) that's fine, but don't sugar-coat.

The muslim cartoon comparison is just not apt.  Her joke has not caused any flag burning, international diplomacy feuds, rioting, and death-threats.  Some people really CAN'T take a joke.

Yeah, Gingerman.... I do

Yeah, Gingerman.... I do agree with you a little bit. MOCK away!!!
ANYONE.... Please feel free to mock away, but be prepared to live with
the consequences. The General Public AND the Market Place will soon
sort her lot out. She'll be playing to 150-200 seat venues in no time
and selling her latest materials on 8-Track after the show!

Wrong, wrong, wrong,

Wrong, wrong, wrong, and WRONG!

No we shouldn't be censored and we should be able to mock Jesus, but how about mocking Mohammed? Or that phony Kaballa crap all the celebs choose as the "cool" fad religion? Or mocking atheism? Or paganism?  These are always "out of bounds" according to the left.

She ABSOLUTELY has the right to say what she pleases. But what she and nearly every other leftist don't understand is that the rest of us have the right to not like it, talk about why we don't like it, and boycott/vote with our wallets/time/etc

Lefties complain about this all the time.  For examples, there was a HUGE backlash against the Dixie Chicks for their idiotic ramblings against this country, yet all we heard from them and the MSM was how harsh it was that they were losing money, bad record sales, and had to cancel tours, etc.  TOUGH SHIT!  If you want to say something offensive, be prepared for the rest of us to exercise OUR freedom in disagreeing with it and ignoring you (this is directed at the lefties, not the poster I reply to).  The left doesn't understand that freedom of speech applies to EVERYONE and doesn't mean freedom FROM speech they don't like in response.

Additionally, I love how people (celebs, reporters, writers, liberal arts professors, etc) who bash Christians and Jews are considered "renegades, rebels, daring" by the leftist elite.  No they aren't, they're cowards...they do it because they KNOW we won't respond by killing, maiming, rioting, torturing, demanding "sensitivity", etc.  A REALLY daring push-the-envelope lefty would make these comments about Islam.  But they don't have the testicular fortitude to do this because they know what would happen.

And Gingerman, while you're right that Griffin is a nobody and should be ignored, your statement comparing Christians hurt and angered at the constant trashing of their religion (Piss Christ? Virgin Mary covered in dung?  DaVinci Code?  too many more to list here) to the Muslims killing over the Danish cartoons...ludicrous.  We get told to shut up and take it, they get to tell us we're "phobic" and demand "understanding and sensitivity training"  Are you serious? Your analogy is exactly what I'd expect from a committed leftist (if you're not a leftist, I apologize for the insult)!

"Yesterday's Communists are Today's Democrats....

Yesterday's Democrats are Today's Republicans..." - An analogy made by *ME*

Liberals mock Jesus daily with their lives

.....and as far as making it illegal to mock Jesus, I would be all for it as a little law here will save a whole lot of misery in hell for liberals. These children need to know life has boundaries.

*HIC IACET ARTORIVS REX QVONDAM REXQVE FVTVRVS

You can pass a law to

You can pass a law to change outward behavior but you cant change the heart with it. A man-made law saves nobody from Hell.

As far as Griffin, let her speak. I dont advocate censorship. I have my God, Jesus, and she has hers, a little man made tin idol. She'll have to acount for that. I'm happy with my God and she's as happy as she'll ever be.

Amen

That is the bottom line.

"As far as Griffin, let her speak. I dont advocate censorship. I have my God, Jesus, and she has hers, a little man made tin idol. She'll have to acount for that. I'm happy with my God and she's as happy as she'll ever be."

I happy with mine also.He died for my sins .What more could you ask for.

And who's going to decide

And who's going to decide these boundaries? You? The church?

Making it illegal to mock Jesus? Really? What's next, no cartoons depicting Jesus?

...who decided that Mel

...who decided that Mel Gibson's anti-Semite comments were over the line is what I'd like to know...

...but I guess Christians are just second class citizens now...respect doesn't apply to us...

I think there's a

I think there's a difference between a drunk guy blaming the Jews for something and a comedian trying to poke fun at people who thank God in their acceptance speeches and poking fun at her own life by joking that she doesn't think Jesus is responsible for whatever success she HAS had.

of course you think there's

of course you think there's a difference - that's my point...

i think it's the same...

that's the problem - the bigoted PC crowd agrees with you...

Well, with all due respect

Well, with all due respect I don't think I'm a bigot.

I think there's a world of difference between someone saying something in jest and someone ranting.

was that a jest?

or a rant?

 Support our Troops

I agree, I think there is a

I agree, I think there is a difference, and people have the right to react differently depending on how their personal biases cause them to view different situations differently.

"Unbiased" media should treat all instances the same.  Full quotes, full context, and let the speaker deal with the differing reactions

didn't say you were a

didn't say you were a bigot, bal - read carefully...

...boy the rules sure are involved on this aren't they? Let me write this down - so a "jest" is OK then (except in the case of Imus, etc) and a "rant" is just not right (unless you're a pshycho lefty like Kathy Griffen, Bill Maher, Micheal Moore, Kanye West, Joy Behar, Rosie O'Donnell, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Barbara Striesand - actually just read the Hollywood phone book for the complete list...)

Any more rules we peon serfs should be aware of?

I personally didn't think

I personally didn't think Imus' comments were worthy of the attention given them. And these aren't rules, just my thoughts.

Just curious

Good point well99

Can't even remember the terrorist shooting at the jewish charity, but the Mel gibson incident was a barnburning Passion-ate societal upheavel on the news.

MSM BS

The time spent on Gibson for saying what he did compared to a muslim killing one women and wounding 5 others.I will never understand the twisted sobs.I mean a woman is killed and 5 others wounded and the press is just flapping their gums over something said.So to them(MSM) saying something bad about Jewish people is worse then killing them.

So are you upset that she

So are you upset that she said it or upset that the media hasn't gone off on her?

Sucking it is the only thing

Sucking it is the only thing responsible for "whatever success she HAS had".

Thats it balboa!

No ice water for you in hell buddy!OMG I hate to say this but I agree with you.I thought I just heard lighting?Seriously I dont believe we should create laws making it illegal to mock Jesus.Jesus is about forgiving. At least in my beliefs. These people like Kathy and Bill M are inconsequential. They will be forgotten Jesus wont be.I not a religious person but I have my beliefs. It wont change because of something those two or others say.

we're not talking about

we're not talking about laws either - there's no law against anti-Semitism (unless your talking hate crimes? in which case Kathy is guilty there)

we're just calling out the anti-Christian bigotry and the PC hypocracy - Imus got the boot, Gibson got a ton of shit, Griffen gets a pat on the back...

at least it all goes in the NB archives - some day there will be a reckoning - the big guy upstairs will handle it all very nicely I'm sure...

As I said earlier

"She is just another bigot from the left. But that is okay.Left wingers are allowed to be bigots."

What gets me about the msm is that when Mel said his anti -Semitic remarks in that same time frame in Seattle a muslim killed a jewish girl and wounded others. It was at I believe a Jewish charity organization. You didnt hear much on that.I will look it up later.I remeber being amazed. If you kill someone it doesnt get as much media time as someones bigoted remarks.

the liberal double

the liberal double standards on bigotry and second class citizen status of Christians in the PC world is the big issue here...

I don't expect it to change - its the nature of the fallen world - it's just fun to point out the astounding hypocracy of the contemporary left - like shooting fish in a barrel these days...

I agree

"I don't expect it to change - its the nature of the fallen world - it's just fun to point out the astounding hypocracy of the contemporary left - like shooting fish in a barrel these days..."

With a shotgun at that.It is just too easy.I am a independant and acording to internet test a centralist.I go by the person or issue. The blatant bias of the msm astounds me.They just disregard the intelligence of folks.I keeping meaning to email them about the internet and the ability to run down information on it.Somehow they dont understand how easy it is to fact check.

balboa

It's a hate crime, simple enough. You libs hate the Christian religious people - it's a hate crime, already illegal isn't it ? I mean you libs were the deciders about hate crimes, now time, for you to do the time, haters.

threatening langauge

threatening langauge indeed...

If you actually believe

If you actually believe that, then you have more screws loose than Lame Cherry. I am tired of this "I am holier than you" Religion Competition, because there is always a Jimmy Swaggart or Ted Foley casting stones. Leave the "all libs are evil" garbage at the door.

What boundaries are you

What boundaries are you talking about balboa? I have my boundaries and obviously she has hers. I'll have to account for mine as she will hers, but I will have a Defense Attorney on my side. I dont choose to mock the one who saved me, but it's her business if she does. I think the point here is how the Hollywood elite thinks it's all ok, and the media follows right along. Notice she didnt say "Suck it, Mohammad". But it's fine to attack Christianity because we wont burn down any houses or chop off any heads. And balboa, I dont know how familiar you are with scripture, but it says these things would happen anyway.

And I never said anything about making it illegal to mock Jesus - That's for Islamics and their prophet. And I never said anything about no cartoons either. She and others are free to do and say as they please, and I'm free not to patronize any of them.

In the end, all of us are going to have to account for what we said and did.

re: Lame Cherry's post, not

re: Lame Cherry's post, not yours.

ok - good enough.

ok - good enough.

but I should have mentioned in my previous post, the boundaries were set a long time ago. There are ten of them - I can show you where to find them if you'd like.

And to Chidi - I'm not holier than anybody - I'm a sinner saved by grace.

She got exactly what she wanted...

Kathy got exactly what she wanted and that is to get people to talk about her.  What has been said about her prior to now?  Nothing except the fact that she is a terrible comedianne.  She is offensive in every way unless your gay.  Then she loves you.  I mean look at what network she works for!  All I can say is that she is totally confused because if she would make a remark about Jesus, then turn around and say "am I the only Catholic..." and wear a gold cross on Ellen... what a nightmare of psyche!

If you don't stand behind our troops; please feel free to stand in front of them!

Anyone notice?

I know it may hurt, but since we here at NewBusters seek the truth, I occasionally will drift over to repugnant sites like MoveOn.org or DailyKos to see what they're up to...and to my disgust, DailyKos has remodeled their website in a strikingly similar fashion to NB's here.

Anyone else have thoughts on that?

first the web site, next

first the web site, next the thinking - resistence to NB genius is futile...

Griffin also......

....hosted the gay porn awards a month or so ago.

I'm sure her parents are so proud.

Kathy Griffin

The Lord Jesus doesn't need my poor attempts to stick up for Him.  People have been mocking Him for 2,000 years. What concerns me is that it is a small leap from mocking to persecution, and Christians should be concerned about that.  People like Kathy Griffin derserve our prayers and not our condemnation.  She'll have to explain her actions to Him face-to-face one day.

we're not sticking up for

we're not sticking up for Jesus - we're just calling the left on their bigotry...

what do we have to do - set up the "NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF CHRISTIAN PEOPLE?"

These daily anti-Christian "comedy-lynchings" are getting way out of hand...

Couldnt have said it better

Couldnt have said it better myself.

Kathy Griffin is the chick

Kathy Griffin is the chick the "Wing Man" always gets stuck with when going out with the guys.  Ugly, loud, obnoxious, painfully untalented...she's the ego-boosting toady for the pretty girl.  Anyone who sat through even part of an episode of that dreadful sitcom "Suddenly Susan" knows that Griffin is boasting when she refers to herself as part of the D-List.  NBC, Bravo...Kathy Griffin must have some incriminating pictures of someone at GE.

Offensive bee-yatch

She is a talentless hack that is singlehandedly keeping the plastic surgery industry in business.

I can't wait to go to her website (or better yet, visit her in person) and laugh at her when her mom or dad or husband dies.  Hey, I'm just being edgy and irreverent, can't you take a joke?  Suck it - non-believer.

Of course, common courtesy would never allow me to behave in such a way.  Or perhaps. . . . . .

Wow, making fun of

Wow, making fun of Christians, Bush, Chaney, the right wing.
Bush can’t make a speech, Catholics priest and boys..  How cutting edge! Brilliant!!  How..uh..uh.. avant garde!

Quick some one call John Stewart, George Carlin, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Jeneane
Garaofalo, Bill Maher, Al Franken, Rosie.. they have to hear this.

I have an idea, something really cutting edge. Make fun
of Muslims. Do it. Just once. I dare you. Just think, how avant-garde you would
be..

JUST ONCE.

ONCE.

You know why you don’t? That would take balls. And you
have none!

Gutless.

USA4FREEDOM... Thank

USA4FREEDOM...

Thank you.  My best friend and I have had that exact conversation so many times.  Do these people think that they're being revolutionary by mocking our leaders, or our largest religious group?

That's what I don't understand about everything that is going on today (and I guess has been for a long time now).  Liberals preach about tolerance, yet what happens when someone mocks a homosexual?  What happens when someone (that isn't black) says "ho"?  What happens when there is public outcry against illegal aliens?  What happend to the majority's right to speak their mind?  Some troll above was talking about ignoring this, and asking what the point is...I mean, Lord help us if we have to explain why this matters. It's about living under the same rules that you liberals espouse, but do not follow.  Your whole charade is old, transparent, and pathetic.

I second USA4FREEDOM's call for someone, perhaps a comedienne, to mock Muslims, since they evidently have more rights than us educated folks.  Please, make a joke that has Muhammed as the punchline.  Hollywood and the liberal "elite" are complete, total, utter hypocrites, and they are undermining the principles of our society.  THAT's the point.

John Stewart has joked about

John Stewart has joked about Muslims. I guess he has balls and guts.

What was the

What was the "joke"?

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

Kathy Griffen

Warning to Kathy Griffen:

Stay away from shrubbery, one day you may come upon one that is burning.

Isn't anyone equally

Isn't anyone equally offended by the thousands of actors, athletes and beauty contest winners who continue to "First and foremost, thank Jesus"?

Does anyone really believe that Jesus roots for one football team to beat the other?  Should the losing team be mad at Jesus?

Does anyone really believe that Jesus has a hand in deciding who wins an emmy and who doesn't?

The false piety displayed by actors, rappers, athletes etc. is enough to make me puke.  (Griffin's joke was crass and in poor taste, but it was accurate).

No, I'm not equally

To my knowledge, winners have  never thanked Jesus for winning them the award.  I have heard them thank Him for His help along the way.  You don't know what mountains these people have had to climb to get where they are.  Yes, some may do it by rote, but many are genuine.  Why on earth are you so offended that someone thanks Jesus?  Does it also bother you when they thank their mothers or fathers, living or dead?  Or their grandmothers?  Or their coaches, acting teachers or other role models?  Or, in the case of rappers, their parole officers?
