Game Change Co-Author Halperin Insists HBO Movie Leads Palin Detractors to Appreciate Her
Those who have seen HBO’s Game Change come away with a more sympathetic view of Sarah Palin, Time magazine’s Mark Halperin, co-author of the book on which HBO based its production set to air Saturday night, contended Wednesday night on CNN. Erin Burnett interviewed Halperin and co-author John Heilemann and Halperin told Burnett:
We’ve seen a few screenings with people and uniformly – every screening we’ve attended – people who came in, didn’t like Sarah Palin, weren’t fans of Sarah Palin, almost every one of them has said to us afterwards, “you know what, I now understand what she went through more, I have more sympathy for her, I have more appreciation for what she accomplished.”
Has anyone who admires Palin gotten into one of these screenings?
Halperin insisted: “It’s factually accurate and I think a lot of people who watch it who are favorably disposed to Governor Palin are going to find it to be a pretty favorable portrait, a fair portrait of what she went through.”

From the pre-recorded segment on the Wednesday, March 7 Erin Burnett OutFront on CNN:
ERIN BURNETT: There’s some controversy that it’s too harsh. She’s called it Fact Change instead of Game Change. But you obviously have seen the movie, you consulted on the movie. Is it a fair representation of what was in the book, of what your reporting was?
MARK HALPERIN: It is. We’d urge anybody who’s not seen it – airs on HBO on Saturday 9 o’clock – to watch it. It’s factually accurate and I think a lot of people who watch it who are favorably disposed to Governor Palin are going to find it to be a pretty favorable portrait, a fair portrait of what she went through, all the things she accomplished in those 60 days on the ticket; the challenges as well. We’ve seen a few screenings with people and uniformly – every screening we’ve attended – people who came in, didn’t like Sarah Palin, weren’t fans of Sarah Palin, almost every one of them has said to us afterwards, ‘you know what, I now understand what she went through more, I have more sympathy for her, I have more appreciation for what she accomplished.’
BURNETT: That’s interesting. So a little more empathy.

contributed big bucks to the Democrats and zero bucks to the Republicans. I have no plans to watch this movie for two reasons: Number one, Bill Maher is on HBO and number two, I will never get HBO because of reason number one.

I was reading the artical on Drudge from the USA today and came across this:
McCain, played by Ed Harris, has said he won't watch Game Change, telling the Fox News talk radio show Kilmeade and Friends it is "based on a book that's totally unfair and untrue, especially to Sarah Palin. … She's a good and decent person, and this continuing maligning of her by the liberal left is reprehensible to me."
What? Sure didnt stop him from participating and cashing the check. I remember when Holliwierd wouldn't be able to cast a movie like this. They would instead have to play the ol, characters in this film are not based after any real folks anywhere bs. Like DC they seemed to be void of patriots and decency, it's all ideology.

I think you misunderstood the sentence, though in fairness it's very poorly constructed and I was kind of confused at first myself. The person who's not watching the movie is the real John McCain, not actor Ed Harris; whomever wrote that article felt the need to mention Harris, which made the sentence very awkward.

Yes, this will be all about how the poor woman didn't realize she was in over her head. Too mentally impaired to be held responsible.
Am I the only one who is sick of having the "experts" tell me what a book or movie is all about before I even have the possibility to read or watch it? Then if we criticize, we are accused of doing so without first-hand knowledge. So, they get a week or more to set the whole thing up just the way they like.
HBO??

Not a snowballs chance in Hell of me watching this trash, since it is on HBO, a cesspool that I refuse to tune my receiver to. Just imagine, folks. If all conservatives voted with their actions and refused to watch this horrendous channel, maybe they would get a clue and stop with the crap they broadcast. Most folks, though, are all show, and no go, and will watch anyway and then whine about the content. And HBO will make big bucks and conservative people will be slimed yet again.
You are lying, Mark Halperin.

Your body language is telling a different story than your mouth. I always see the blinking, and unless you are having a dry eye problem, it's a good indicator of veracity or not.
I highly doubt anyone told you that they thought Sarah Palin went through a lot, particularly when you tell the story in such a disgracefully biased manner. Why didn't you bother telling the story of what happened after that?
Of course, one can surmise HBO covered its own butt and didn't include the Bill Maher commentaries on her.
Count me among those that will not watch the pile of trash, despite all of the actors, producers and writers lying through their teeth trying to get the ratings for that night. Sounds like they are trying desperately to reverse the trend that Hollywood finds itself up against, namely that unpatriotic and anti-family movies bomb at the box office or have ratings lower than a test pattern.
Knowing Their Audience

Anyone dumb enough to waste their money by subscribing to HBO will believe anything HBO can puke out. Its HBO's entire reason for existence and matches their marketing plan to a tee. Just what is HBO's marketing plan...dumb people can be fooled "all of the time". Therefore, I predict the HBO subscribers will love "Game Change" because they are too dumb to know better. Can't say HBO doesn't know their audience!
A relatively positive portrayal of Sarah Palin

She is portrayed as a total idiot only 90% of the time, 9% of the time she realizes she is a totally idiot and makes fun of herself, and 1% of the time she has puppy dog eyes that make you feel sorry for her. The most positive portrayal of Palin by HBO ever.

After reading Halperin's comments, the stink became so bad, I had to check the bottom of my shoes for sh!t...
Seriously people how and why do we tolerate bald face liars like this...this is a typical HBO hit piece on Palin. Anyone who tries to say or imply otherwise is a two bit conman, liar, and dirtbag.
Newsweek and Halperin are total disgrace to humanity, keep your children far away from scum like this who teach that lying and bullying are perfectly acceptable behavior. Liberals show themselves to be real scum when they act normal, like Halperin

Mark Halperin is lying to get conservatives to watch his crappy movie. I've seen Mark and his partner, John Heilemann, on Morning Joe many times. When Sarah Palin was mentioned they always trashed her. They did not make this movie because they liked her or wanted people to be sympathetic toward her. They're doing what liberals do, mocking and criticizing. And, I'm sure they are enjoying the money they made from it. I won't be watching. I canceled HBO a long time ago.

I agree. Uncovering the connections among these political criminals is one of the most important endeavors we must undertake. It is not being done by the MSM because they are embedded in those spider web connections, big time.
