Olbermann Uses Devastating Haiti Earthquake...to Justify ObamaCare!

The devastating earthquake in Haiti, which may have killed tens of thousands or more, “reminded” MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann of why ObamaCare is needed in the United States as he saw “what health care reform really means” in Haiti’s “awful message of nightmarish reality.” Later, he seriously contended the Haiti disaster makes “a good frame of reference in terms of the health care issue,” as he speculated about a quake destroying Los Angeles:

How would survivors of something like this here fare in terms of getting on their own feet economically afterwards, with the health care system we have in place right now?

After smearing Rush Limbaugh as a “deranged racist,” Olbermann teased Wednesday night’s Countdown: “We are reminded of what health care reform really means by an awful message of nightmarish reality from a place, a place this time not so very far away.” MSNBC’s on-screen heading, as he spoke, sealed the link between Haiti and the domestic policy: “REAL REFORM NECESSARY; LATEST FROM HAITI.”

Deep into the January 13 program, Olbermann proposed to New York Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner:

I don't want to turn this into something about domestic politics, but I think it's a good frame of reference in terms of the health care issue that we always talk about. We could easily have a natural disaster, if not quite on this scale, at least in the same broad ballpark. A slightly heavier earthquake in California could do extraordinary devastation to San Francisco or Los Angeles. I was thinking about this -- and maybe it's inappropriate and tell me if I'm inappropriate in asking it -- but how would survivors of something like this here fare in terms of getting on their own feet economically afterwards, with the health care system we have in place right now?

Not even the liberal Weiner bought Olbermann’s premise as he conceded no one is really denied health care:

Well, I think if we were to have a circumstance like this, we’d all rally around. And it's the same way, frankly, every single day, when people go into a hospital or an emergency room, there is some question asked, let me see your insurance card, but at the end of the day, we care for them. So we really don't have a discussion in this country whether or not we're going to have health care for everyone. We really do. The only question we're having now, and it seems almost silly, it's so petty, is how we’re going to distribute that health care, how we’re going to pay for it, how we’re going to make sure everyone has it at an affordable level...

there is no level this man (i use the term very loosely) will not stoop to to sell an agenda or blame someone he hates ideologically. Im suprised he hasnt pinned this on Bush/Cheney/Limbaugh/Beck/et al. This is a real life tragedy that can be blamed on no one and should be completely ideological neutral. Olbermann was listening closely when he and his ilk were briefed in the White House by the Won.

He and the other members of the Obama Ministry of Propaganda and Misinformation do as they are told. These "journalists" mold what they report to best further the perception that whatever "crisis" the Won is foisting upon us at the time must have money thrown at it immediately without question or consideration.

I've been saying for some time now that our President is doing his best to crash the economy. How better to remake, to "fundamentally" change something than to first destroy it?

Well, let's see now. The vaunted #1 healthcare system in the world according to WHO is France. Of course, France like all of Europe has socialized medicine. Yet, in 2003 when it got less warm than an autumn day in North Carolina, 11,000 people died of the heat there. The medical system in the country broke down. Hospitals were refusing patients. Doctors, the whole country takes six weeks off, refused to return to work. Hey, it was mostly old people anyway. Who cares, right?

On the same topic I'm hoping that all my NB friends will contribute something to the relief effort. I know times are hard in the U.S. and we need to take care of our own but after looking at the photos and having visited Haiti myself many years ago I feel so sorry for those people. Talk about being screwed over by their own politicians. Anyway, I sent a little bit of money to Convoy Of Hope.

It's times like these that I really realize how lucky I am and that I can spend my free time in a warm, comfortable home discussing politics with people half way across the world from me while other people are hurting. It's depressing but I couldn't go to sleep last night before I did something.

Mother Nature is in charge of this Earth and there is not a thing we can do to change it. Global warming, cooling, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurriances, tornedoes, floods, forest fires...whatever, the Earth has conquered man not the other way around.

Yes he has, he was one of several people who had a chance to interview Bill Clinton a few years back. At the end of the interview he hands Clinton a check for a charity he represented, & if you paying attention to what was being said, you could figure out how much the check was for. There was some figure mentioned at some point, & Olby handed him the check & said something about it being like 10 times whatever that figure was.

Here is my problem, he did it on camera, & you could figure out how much he gave. Charity in it's purest form is done anonymously, you don't run around telling everybody what you gave, & you don't do it on TV. Olby looks very self serving by doing this.

Maybe, or possibly Americans would step up and do what they always do in a time of crisis; unify. The government is a joke, but the people are still pretty decent. It is hard to say what will make this country collapse, but I have a feeling that an attack or disaster would maybe make us stronger. The main thing I use to console myself when I start getting overwhelmed with how horribly bad things are happening is that there are still SO MANY good people who want better for this country. We just wouldn't depend on the government to do anything to help us out in the time of crisis and we would do what needed to be done. (Of course I forgot that now we have leaders who will will never waste a good crisis...)
