CNN's Larry King Focuses on Defeat and Threat of 'Far Right'

During a live midnight EST hour Larry King Live Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, CNN's Larry King repeatedly employed the “far right” pejorative to describe those who backed the unsuccessful New York congressional bid of the Conservative Party's Doug Hoffman. After Wolf Blitzer announced at 12:15 AM EST that CNN had declared Democrat Bill Owens the winner, King blurted: “That may be the first defeat for the far right tonight.”

About 15 minutes later, King pressed Amanda Carpenter of the Washington Times: “Since the far right did get into that race in upstate New York, is this a legitimate defeat for them tonight?”

And a few minutes after that, King forwarded the notion “the far right” is a “threat” to the GOP, asking Ben Stein: “Do you see the far right as evidenced by -- we all know who they are -- as a threat to your party?”

Stein filled in the names as he rejected the premise: “Not at all. Not in the slightest. I think you're talking about people like my wonderful friend Ann Coulter and my wonderful friend Rush Limbaugh. I think those people are activating the party, they are keeping the party alive...”

Far right?

Is Doug Hoffman a far right guy? I did not think so. Just a conservative, through and through. And if he is far right then 45.5% of the population identify with the far right. Is that the conclusion?

They present these "are you

They present these "are you still beating your wife" templates, then people feel like they have to respond to them, as above.

You do have to respond, but the real issue here is the propaganda that is pushed on people every day by these leftist "news" organizations.

We have reached the point where the only good answer to these people is out their propaganda. Show clips of what they do side-by-side with similar clips from East Germany, or the Soviet east bloc. This is real propaganda now. This is no different to how it was/is in China & Russia. Full-on lies and deceit.

If it remains like this, America will be a totalitarian state in less than 50 years.

I mean do we not have an answer? Do they really get away with this? Is there not some consequences from this?

This show, which is considered mainstream by most people, says this, and do we not HAVE an answer?

There can be no "apology". They have done it before and they will do it again. They push such lies & deceit on their unsuspecting viewers every day.

Thank heaven for Ben Stein!

The blog doesn't say what Amanda Carpenter answered, but I hope it was similar.

This constant attempt by the left to portray conservatives as extremists is not going to stop (it's all they have) so it has to be met with Ben Stein's "not at all!" type of answer every time.

They'd rather talk about that, than why Democrats lost.  The best answer is

Why should we worry about the people in our party who are winning elections?  Apparently we need more like them!

The Christian Right

The Christian far right; Palin, Bachmann, Santorum, Thompson, Beck, Limbaugh etc., all got involved in this race and they failed. Ha Ha. I'm a true conservative, a Goldwater conservative. A LIBERTARIAN. If the Republican party wants to be defined by those idiots, they are doomed.

I agree.

Much better to be defined by people like John McCain.

That would suit.......exactly whom?

The Christian far right;

The Christian far right; Palin, Bachmann, Santorum, Thompson, Beck, Limbaugh etc., all got involved in this race and they failed . Ha Ha.

Do you mean to say that those you listed are all "Far Right Christian??!!" Since when? Conservatives...yes Christians...yes Far Right and what it connotes...I don't think so.

Facts are like kryptonite to the liberal.

Rush "I'm conservative from

Rush "I'm conservative from the waist up" Limbaugh is part of the Christian far right?

OK

As a matter of fact

As a matter of fact conservative and liberatarian ARE NOT synonymous.

Whilst each shares certain principles jointly, they most certainly diverge on issues.

I myself am a conservative with some libertarian beliefs.

So which one are YOU? Conservative or Libertarian? Though I suspect IDIOT from the construction of your post, and your hatred of Christians.

Ha ha.

Obama thinks winning 52.7% of the vote gave him a mandate to turn America into a Euro-trash socialist state.

Actually, the R party wants

Actually, the R party wants to be defined by McCain, Scozzafava (supports the D candidate), Powell (supports the D candidate), etc., etc.. The RNC wants nothing to do with Conservatives. Guess goldbrick is in good company!

Oh please

Goldwaterfan, if you're a conservative, I'm a blind aviator.

Conservative...

I'm a conservative Libertarian as well. I left the Republican Party in 1986, after seeing Reagan sell out the party to Jerry Falwell to bring the religious nuts into the party. I don't know how conservatives define themselves anymore, as it seems to be based on the Pro-Life movement. There is nothing Conservative about being so called "Pro-Life". Pro-Lifers apparently don't see the hypocrisy in calling for the government to take action to control people's sexuality and reproductive choices, and then scream about wealth redistribution. A true conservative believes in live and let live, personal liberty being a concept of the highest order. They don't believe in putting a government gun to the head of a pregnant 14 year old to have a child for the state.

It seems to me there are conservatives and then there are people that only claim to be. Goldwater is certainly worth revisiting. I am conservative on National Security, as in having the world's best armed forces and using them to be a country never to be defeated. I am conservative in that I don't want the government to tax and waste, and support Marxist ideologies to create welfare classes of people. I am not a social conservative as I have no right to tell people what to think or how to live their lives. God will judge them all, it's not my job to do that....Social Conservatism is tyranny from the right....

"take action to control

"take action to control people's sexuality and reproductive choices.."

Choice?   Once you pull the trigger, it's no longer a choice, it's a RESPONSIBILITY.

Nobody is seeking to control reporductive choices.   The choice is, do I have unprotected sex or not.  Once you make that choice, the outcome is a responsibility.   Why sanction the killing of a child for the sake of convenience?

And who is seeking to control anybody's sexuality?   We are seeking to preserve  the sanctity of marriage.   I don't give a flip what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes.

"Religious nuts"?    Anyone who doesn't "think" like you is a nut?   Quite revealing.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any
President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

You Obviously Know.....

You obviously know what an idiot is or you wouldn't being using that term to describe these people. Therefore, in thirty words or less, would you please define idiot? Since I am one of those "Christian Idiots", I'd like to know how such an articulate intellectual such as you define me!

Better a donkey who acts like one....

Michelle Malkin has some great comments this AM on the NY-23 race, including the fact that RNC fatcats have "indelible egg" on their faces!  Also, a photo of a fund-raising reject letter similar to what I sent back to the RNC last week.

My favorite line from MM:

Better a donkey in office that acts like a donkey than a donkey in elephant’s clothing making a complete ass of the GOP.

Hahahahahahahhaha

This ancient turd just can't help but to be totally overwhelmed by the liberal defeats tonight. And Hoffman might have taken NY if Scozzafavabean hadn't gotten her couple thousand votes.

I love it. I can't wait to listen to Rush today to hear what he has to say. Dems, get used to it: if you think this hurts, wait til 2010.

Nice suspenders, now if he can just find a beret to go with them..

Keep you heads in the sand just like the RNC.

Sorry, guys...

Buy don't underestimate how bad the news is here with Hoffman losing. No other way to spin it other than a solid defeat for the Conservative movement. This was the race I was watching for the most last night. Really, governorships do not mean as much on the national political landscape as NY23 meant. It would have been huge for a candidate backed by leading conservatives to win the seat. That didn't happen, unfortunately, and now we will hear that the "fringe right wing" can't win anything. This loss only empowers the RINOS's of our party...that is a VERY bad thing for the longterm health of the conservative base. Man, I am frustrated right now.

PAC

that whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and toinstitute new government...

RINOS empowered?

Come now.  It was a loss but RINOS empowered?  I think they might want to check their coffers.  The RNC RNSC and RNCC are in a panic - I believe they are getting more returned envelopes with "No more RINOS!" written on the form than credit card numbers or checks.

Texndoc

I hope you are right but as of today, the RINO's are still in the majority of the Republican party.  A Hoffman win last night would have REALLY scared the crap out of them and helped pushed the party to where it needs to be.  A Hoffman win would have pushed the party in the right direction at a higher rate of speed than what we can expect now.

PAC

That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and toinstitute new government...

RINOs Didn't Win

The RINOs didn't win anything! Scuzzy got 6000 votes, endorsed the Dummiecrat, and showed her true colors. Hoffman was an unknown until this election. He will be the nominee in 2010 with name recognition and Owens will have a voting record to defend. If he votes with Pelousy, he will be Peloutted and preempted out of his seat! Its still a win for Conservatives!

I agree.  That Hoffman did

I agree.  That Hoffman did as well as he did, being a third-party candidate, is a good sign!

Start with the fact that he forced a RINO out of the race, and still made a good showing despite her endorsing her own Democrat rival! (proving that she is not now, nor has ever been, a Republican)......and this story is a wake-up call.....for RINO's and those who support them!

It's not a victory, but a sign that the battle has been joined!

Morning MB

Good point with "the battle has been joined".  Agreed.  We should as conservatives, be happy with that.  But, a Hoffman win last night would have prevented the post below from my buddy Shawn.  Everyone needs to remember that the libs will spin this in such a way that it is a HUGE defeat for the Conservative movement.  Our RINO friends hear that spin and, and this is important, they are more motivated to be RINO's.  Remember, RINO's stand on zero principals.  They want to be loved by their friends "across the aisle".  Hoffman's loss does nothing to motivate them away from that mindset.  My disappointment is the fact that this loss slows the momentum we could have had as conservatives.

PAC

That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and toinstitute new government...

To further my point...

Here's the article and the spin that our pals at the NYT are using;

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/04/nyregion/04district.html

The posters at NB are the only ones who will take something positive from Hoffman's loss.

PAC

That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends,it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and toinstitute new government...

What makes you think the

What makes you think the NYT would play this any differently if Hoffman had won?

Alternate headline:

Far-Right Win Exposes Schism in GOP

subhead: Will Republicans repudiate extremists?

Caring about how the NYT spins anything is an exercise in futility.

What a joke..NY Times

Since when do they report positive stories on GOP? Never.

MSM will spin these elections the Liberals way every time whatever happens.

I was thinking the same

I was thinking the same thing GeneralAl, as this was a special election, and whoever won would only serve out the term.  Hoffman came in as an unknown, with no national party backing him and no money to speak of, and he did quite well, IMHO.  Now that he has some experience in campaigning, he should stand a good chance in 2010.

Facts are like kryptonite to the liberal.

Check What You Are Seeing

They forced a RINO out of office, that is the Victory.  Would you rather Scuzzy be in there tarnishing the Republican name??  No, we stopped her from spreding her stink.

"For a people who are free, and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security."

Well it will happen again and again and again

Want to know why? Conservatives are already spinning the defeat of Hoffman as a win, because they forced the GOP "RINO" out of the race. Forget the endorsements of Palin and the mouth of Limbaugh. Its a win in dittoland. Full steam ahead. The loss of a seat held by the GOP for 120 years is a win.

http://newsbusters.o...

You can put up a Mississippi Republican in New York and you know who will have the seat? A Democrat.

Congratulations.

So you are saying that

So you are saying that better to have the R on the seat, even if that "Republican" votes Democrat 99% of the time?

Wow.  That would be a victory!!

Michelle Malkin has it just right:

Better a donkey in office that acts like a donkey than a donkey in elephant’s clothing making a complete ass of the GOP.

The Pravda media will

The Pravda media will downplay or mute the Dem defeats in VA & NJ and any damage they may pose to 0beyme, while trumpeting the loss of NY 23 and how it affects the Reps, most notably Palin.

Facts are like kryptonite to the liberal.

The loss of a seat held by

The loss of a seat held by the GOP for 120 years is a win.

You actually meant this district seat was held by a Republican by 17 years, not 120, right? McNulty was the district rep before some redistricting in 1992-93.

Gay marriage

Gay marriage went down in Maine.  On Scarborough, Mika just said every time this has come before a public vote, it has been defeated.  Every time.  I don't recall hearing about it before or Glenn or Rush even mentioning Maine.

The biggest surprise

Larry King was awake past midnight.

How do you know he was

How do you know he was awake?

Every time I see him I think of "Weekend at Bernie's"

How do you know he was

How do you know he was awake? Every time I see him I think of "Weekend at Bernie's"

LOL!! Now everytime I see that movie I'll think of Larry.

Facts are like kryptonite to the liberal.

LOL!

You're exactly right - there I go, making assumptions again ...

Mummified

My God, how the hell old is Larry King? He has that gray, lack of circulation look of death. I just saw him after a few years. Someone needs to do an intervention and keep him from dying on the air.

NY-23 was a 'loss', not a defeat

Both Owens and Scuzzyfava were rubber-stamp votes for Pelosi. Hoffman entered the race for something liberals just can't understand. Principles. This was a statement race for Conservatives. It would have been nice to win, but look at it this way, Hoffman entered the race, what, a month ago? And only lost 49-46. The difference being the ACORN/WFP votes sent DeDe's way. I'd say this was a loss, but in no way a defeat.

One other point

Don't forget, Owens has to run again in 2010. We now have a full year to prepare for the next run. Enjoy it while it lasts, libs.

Nope sic, the difference was

Scozzafava was still on the ballet, the 5% she got would had given Hoffman the win

My Gov. thinks I am dangerous, so be careful

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

NY 23rd and Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin was out front on exposing Scozzafava as being to the left of even many democrats.

Now that the liberal won that contest, the socialists are back to calling her names... like idiot, stupid, .. you know the drill.

What continues to be interesting though, is how such attacks are not followed up with any substance on just what might be making her stupid. Such verbal atttacks only reinforce the Conservative stand in regard to Palin's stature on the Right.

We have come to simply realize that for socialists, being 'stupid' just means that one doesn't agree with their position on an issue.

One might argue that Palin stumbled in the couric interview when asked about her reading material. Too bad she didn't blurt out, : "No clear thinking, normal people get their 'news' from the LA Times, the NY Times, Newsweek, or Time?"

HANDS UP!

How many NB viewers give a crap about anything from Larry King, other than how to marry tons of women?

Anyone? Buehler? Anyone?

Larry King is still on TV?

Wow, who knew?

-Dave

Our elected representatives have failed us.

Re King

Remember that life-insurance ad where the husband died, so the wife propped him up at his desk in his office and came in once a day to dust him off, because she could not afford to let him die? The others in the office would say, -that Bob, he's always hard at work isn't he? That's Larry King. Can anyone confirm that his lips move when he talks?

Well, for starters

The name of the show under discussion is  "Larry King's Still Alive?"

Great, great, great, great grandmom Larry see's the "Radical RIGHT wing" as a threat to his agenda of the destruction of this nation.

Them rascally RIGHTwingers grew up in, and live in, the real world.

Lairy and friends live in a fantasy world where orcs rule the underground and the ring bearer will throw the ring into the volcano and make the wolrd safe again.

The problem with their fantasy is, the orcs run the democrat party, and their goal is to help the barog rule the world under an iron fist.

Them rascals on the extreme RIGHT are a danger to the slide towards socialism and for some reasons, that larry won't announce publicly, he actively pursues socialism for this country.

MAN UP Larry, and tell us in your opening monologue WHY you think socialism is such a good thing for US?

Talking Points

The liberals are terrified by the conservative movement, that's why all the insults and homosexual references, and tagging as 'far right'. The conservative movement has much more in common with Ross Perot movement than the far right folks like Buchanan or Tancredo etc. They are the silent majority of middle America, and any poll shows that they are the largest self-identified political contingent in our country.

Watch for this talking point from the libs, –conservatives = far-right wackos. They have to push that because it is their only hope. Hoffman is a nerdy accountant but he will be painted as a wacko just as they have done with Palin and other real conservatives.

Larry, you are THE

Larry, you are THE posterchild for senile dementia.  The far right in the U.S. is very small; much smaller, in fact than the far left.  There were no far right candidate running last night, that I am aware of.  Hoffman in NY-23 was not far right, he was, on any rational political spectrum, moderately conservative, not unlike 40% of the country.  The skinheads who pimp-slapped Geraldo on his show that time, now those guys are far right, and every Republican, conservative or otherwise condemn such people.

Good grief!  You are supposed to be a wordsmith of sorts.  Learn some definitions before you use a word, fool.

MikeB...

I watched quite a bit of that show last night back and forth...

It is time for King to hang it up...getting senile is correct...and I mean that...it was pathetic.

Time to hang it up...then again, he isn't any worse than the other leftist talking twits that have come after him...in fact, at least he doesn't have the venom and vigor they spew ...in fact it could put ya to sleep.

Anybody see that nattering nabob Ventura on the show...what a fool he is, he proves it even before he opens his mouth just by his lack of class and grooming...then again, most lefties are that way.

The White House . . .
