“The new President has been bruised along the way as poll numbers are falling and he has seen his message hijacked as town meetings have exploded with wild and false rumors of 'death panels' deciding when a human life should end,” Brian Williams declared at the top of Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, in adopting as fact the liberal presumption that conservatives, not liberals, are guilty of the misrepresentations.
In advance of President Obama's prime time speech before Congress to push his health care agenda, Williams began his September 9 newscast for the Eastern and Central time zones:
President Obama is asking Congress to reform health care -- and while we are just 233 days into the Obama presidency -- the new President has been bruised along the way as poll numbers are falling and he has seen his message hijacked as town meetings have exploded with wild and false rumors of 'death panels' deciding when a human life should end. So tonight, beneath the Capitol dome, the stakes are high...

Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:02 ET by cheesegraterAre there such things as true rumors?
Brian Williams-I am proud
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:16 ET by RR GOPBrian Williams-I am proud to say that I've never seen this shill for the Libtards report on anything live, just a few minutes of clips (at best) here and there.
Again, how is it these companies stay in business with guys like this spewing their partisan nonsense and falling ratings?
One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.
What's really
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:20 ET by MidAmericaWhat's really interesting is this opposition to obama is not from elected Republican leadership but from real grassroots opposition. Even though the democrats have always touted themselves as the spokesman for the little guy it is in fact a lot of little guys who are self-actuated and banded together by talk radio, the internet and Fox News. Not only does this grassroots collection of conservatives and libertarians form the opposition to the liberal agenda but it also serve to shake up the Republican establishment who will sell their supporters short just to make nice and 'work across the isle'.
Another interesting element is that the real point of combat is against the traditional media which has evolved into the main combatant against the grassroots band of conservatives and libertarians. So instead of two political parties battling it out and reported by the news media what we are witnessing is two forms of the media fighting a battle for the direction of the country.

Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:23 ET by 10ksnookerLies do leave a mark --- especailly when you repeat them several different times as Obama has done.
Wild & false rumors = 's scare tactics ='s Obama's the Pro
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:29 ET by Gary HallWell, he should know, but I suspect his claim tonight is nothing but more of Obama's own fear mongering; the spreading of wild and false rumors.
After all, even the left leaning FactCheck.org saw it clearly.
Scaring our seniors - Obama's Social Security Whopper.
Needless to say, the MSM didn't have a heck of a lot of interest in passing that along to the voters - they had an election to win.
Whether it's blue pills or red pills, or Doctors removing little boys and girls tonsils so that they can simply make more money, President Obama, and his administration, has proved themselves the master of the wild and false rumors; rumors destined to scare people.

Who writes for Brian Williams?
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:33 ET by sbourgApparently, it's someone who doesn't understand what "news" is. It's a Super-Libtard who took "Creative Writing 101", and only one, who could write (and Brian parrots the words with his million dollar voice and 10 cent brain)..... "The new President......has seen his message hijacked as town mtgs have exploded...yadayadayada." Good God, this is "News" ? No. It's an Obama kool-aid drinker on steroids, typing a transcript for NBC-freaking-News. Thank you Brent, for pointing out what I've seen/heard several times from NBC/Brian Williams, but it's way too painful to hear. It's nice to read it and not have to feel the pain.......I feel for you Brent, having to listen. But good job!!
Brian Williams- cheerleader

Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:52 ET by JAJTthis is from sarah palin's rebuttal to the WH criticism to her WSJ article..
Sarah Palin: One last thing: after President Obama's speech tonight, listen for
which pundits use the words "false", "scary", and "risky" in describing
the proposals I put forward. That's how you'll be able to tell who the
White House counted as "allies" worthy of receiving its talking points.
did anyone catch Stephanapus(sp) grade rating for Obama's speech tonight. i swear they all signed off so quicky the only person i saw still talking was Gibson....

O's message has been "hijacked"? What...
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 20:57 ET by PrairieSkycrap. Obama lost control of his message because the American people saw that it was garbage built on lies, deceptions and is just bad policy...Not because anybody "hijacked" it...
How are those ratings doing, Brian?

A real journalist would
Wed, 09/09/2009 - 21:29 ET by KevroyA real journalist would have used the phrase, "SOME SAY town meetings have exploded with wild and false rumors", rather than stating as a fact that they are wild and false rumors. And then he would define exactly WHO says these are wild and false rumors.
Nothing but a bunch of water carriers for Dear Leader. Talk about transparency.

his - out of absolutely everything - is just totally scary. This isn't news. This is Pravda. This is outrageous.
This is very, very far gone.
They call this nightly news?
This guy has no idea what went on at the Town Halls.
This person is no journalist.
That this sort of thing should masquerade as objective "news" is astounding to me.

Thu, 09/10/2009 - 08:34 ET by mattmIt was amazing! I turned on the TV for 3 seconds, intending to switch it to video to watch a DVD, and it happened (I have no idea why) to be on NBC. It was only on for THREE SECONDS, and I heard Williams say '...false rumors of death panels..." before I was able to switch to video....
3 Seconds of network TV and I hit on a supposed journalist spewing Obama administration talking points....3 SECONDS!
Sad head shake

They just can't get their minds around the "mindset" at the White House...Doctors will discuss (nudge) terminal people toward palliative, nonextraordinary measures...Tests and treatments eligible for reimbursement will be sorted based on studies that may or may not show or even suggest the conclusion reached. Medicare does not pay for preventive measures now--because why prevent if people are older...not cost-effective. This is reality. But these decisions are usually made within families and without the aid of university professors, actuarial statisticians, and government busybodies. But Brian Wms can't see this...oh, poor Obama, so misunderstood. Wah wah. Oh, well, this will all go away in some weird form for a couple of yrs, then shazaam, reappear as all the things we must do to serve the govt or be fined.
