'Paging Dr. Obama' Makes It Seven Time Mag Covers Since Election for Obama

Time magazine's August 10 edition with President Barack Obama on the cover (“Paging Dr. Obama”) trying to heal the nation in a photo illustration as a physician, wearing a white smock with a stethoscope around his neck, brings to seven the number of issues the magazine's cover has featured Obama just since November's election -- make that eight for the First Family if you add in June 1's genuflecting “The Meaning of Michelle.” Amongst the seven of President Obama: “Person of the Year” and Obama as FDR.

The frequent cover appearances led even Jon Stewart, a Bush-hater who was thrilled by Obama's election, to quip Thursday night on his Comedy Central show: “Time magazine is like O magazine, like Obama has to be on the cover -- it is like Oprah magazine. I think he's been on like thirty times this year.”

Well, not thirty, at least not yet, though at about once per month Time will hit thirty Obama covers well before the 2012 vote. To illustrate Time's predilection, I did some graphics work of my own and created an image displaying the eight covers since the election. Go below the jump for a larger jpg.

Whos the dude on the 2nd cover ?

Whos the dude on the 2nd cover ?

Ha!

I was in the middle of taking a sip of my iced tea when I read your comment...nearly spewed my tea!

Can't they just do it already?

Can't they just quit the pretense and rename their magazine Obama instead of Time. So shameful. Especially the doctor cover.

the doctor cover

"He's not really a doctor..., heck, his first name is probably "Dr."".

Of course he's a doctor!!

He's Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy  rolled into one!

Gray's Anatomy fans know this!!

Shame on you MB!

You just ruined McSteamy for me.

I hope he fails, too.

But he....

....probably stayed at a Holiday Inn at some point in his life.

I'd like to see Obama

I'd like to see Obama supporters get their medical care from Dr. Obama. This is a world gone mad, wherein a 'news' magagzine thinks that a politician/lawyer has the answers to health care difficulties. I'd sooner trust Joe the Plumber for my swine flu vaccination.

One Good Thing

The only times I read Time Magazine is when I'm at my doctor or my dentist. And thankfully, they're ALWAYS 7 or 8 years old.

"Let us disappoint the Men who are raising themselves upon the ruin of this Country."-John Adams

this is perfect!

Actually, this is perfect!

The image of Obama as our doctor?!

Shades of Dukakis in the tank, something just doesn't compute.

Seriously, I think that the image of ANY president as a doctor in chage of our health care is too scary to accept.

Thanks Time!

I always try to find

the latest editions of Time and Newsweek when I visit the doctor or dentist and the craziest thing always happens - I forget to leave the issues at the docs and end up throwing them in the trash on the way home.

I self-diagnosed myself as being allergic to BDS but I can't seem to shake the plundering symptom.  My therapy consists of bringing issues of Townhall magazine and the Limbaugh Letter with me to my doc visits but I always end up leaving them in the magazine rack and walking out with Time and Newsweek.

I'm not encouraging others to engage in this conduct.  However I have noticed my therapy seems to enhance the mental-health of my fellow patients.

Colonel Obama is on

a Hogu Chavez streak. Time wants a bailout, quick.

You know the problem with the shuck and jive act, once you have seen it once, next it begins to look just stupid. We are way past stupid.

I would rather read Mad-mag, than this rag-mag.

8 not 7

Let's see, Obama the proctologist, Obama the transexual, Obama turning his back on America, Obama claymation, Obama commiting treason, Obama in false color, Obama as FDR, and Obama minus his Grecian Formula. I count 8 covers.

Must have been Bush's

Must have been Bush's gardeners!!

There's no limit to what Bush screwed up!!!

Clinton's

I think they said it was Clinton's fault--but hey, blame Bush, why not?

Isn't it obvious, he's well rested---

WOW!!!

Barack is an accomplished man, shouldn't he be recognized for those aforementioned accomplishments, whatever they are.

What's not mentioned is that he spends nights at nearby Holiday Inn Express Hotels, it's as simple as that...

I see nothing wrong with President Obama gracing the covers of

Time or any other magazine.

When you have elected THE SAVIOR, a god/man who was descended from Abraham, Peter, Paul, Mary, Joseph, Moses ---- Correction, I meant Bill Ayers, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Saul Alinsky, Rev. Al Sharpton, and the Rev. Jesse Jackson, he deserves the covers on Time and NewsWeek, and the fawning (defined as: To exhibit affection or attempt to please, as a dog does by wagging its tail, whining, or cringing) by the media.

And a bunch of people who

And a bunch of people who have never picked up a Time magazine bought them just to put the cover on thier wall next to their Snoop Dog and their Michael Jackson posters.

Good marketing by TIME.

My Local Book Store

Has more freaking books and special Magizines on this President then I have ever seen.

I'm sick of it.  I wonder when this President is out of office in 2012, will they do the same for the new one?

Nope, never happen.

It's like watching that stupid bird on TV running around shouting, "I'mm coo coo for Coco Puffs!!!!"

"Obama lied, transparency died!" Michelle Malkin

Try this, AF

"Refile" them.....grab a few and stick them elsewhere, like in the Self Help section.

I hope he fails, too.

Time Covers - Obama (7) vs Bush (1) ..'wacked'

Well, I thought it would be fun to go back and look at Times cover shots of President Bush during his first 6 months in office. Here's Time's covers during the period: Jan 1 - July 31, 2001

President Bush got one cover picture. The headline? "BUSHWACKED" Well, that was sweet.

Along the way... this Jan 8, 2001 cover popped up: "How to Survive the Slump?" How refreshing that Time Mag. noticed that Bush inherited a "slump." But did they really want to talk about it? After proposing in, This Time It's Different, that according to many economists, this slump wouldn't necessarily result in a recession (everyone in Washington was talking about the coming recession), we get quite an interesting take on the stock market on Jan. 8th, 2001 (my bold):

With the market apparently headed straight up, traditional advice about diversification among stock market sectors and other investment classes, such as bonds and cash, came to be seen as quaint and obsolete.

Let's see, the foundation of the dot.com economic bubble of the Clinton era, the NASDAQ, was down 53% from it's March 2000 highs. On March 13, 2001, progressive (socialist) economist, Dean Baker of CEPR said:

"The decline in the stock market was an entirely predictable event for anyone familiar with basic arithmetic, even if the exact timing could not be known in advance. The nation's political leaders chose to ignore the stock market bubble... or the reappearance of budget deficits in a decade or two. As a result, millions of families have seen their dreams of a secure retirement or their children's college education vanish with the stock market bubble. The level of negligence of the nation's political leaders [of the late 90's - 2000]  in ignoring the stock bubble exceeds anything since the days of Herbert Hoover."

Time Magazine ('wha's he talking about') and the rest of the MSM, who generally greatly adore Dean Baker, decided not to hear, and not to share with the public, what Bush inherited.

Well after all, Time is

Well after all, Time is pretty much a comic book these days.

The way the cover should be...
