NBC's Snyderman: 'I Was Rooting for the President to Hit a Home Run'

NBC's medical correspondent, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, was “rooting” for President Barack Obama to do well in selling his health care takeover during his Wednesday night press conference: “As a physician, you know, I felt like I understood the complexity of the problem. As an American citizen, I was rooting for the President to hit a home run.”

On the 10 PM EDT Hardball an hour after Obama wrapped up, Snyderman, who hosts the noon EDT weekday hour on MSNBC, fretted that he had “whiffed” in not making some persuasive points, such as using “plain talk to take the scare out of things like rationing, which basically is what's going on now -- some people get medicines, some people don't. It didn't come through tonight.” She also ominously warned of disaster if Obama does not prevail: “We're going to pay big time if we don't get this. I don't think we're going to be a great world power.”

From early in the 10 PM EDT hour of MSNBC's special live Hardball:

DR. NANCY SNYDERMAN: The administration's made a big point talking about the new technology that's going to, sort of, electronically link all of us. That's billions of dollars and years away. So I think the plain talk, you know, to take the scare out of things like rationing, which basically is what's going on now -- some people get medicines, some people don't. It didn't come through tonight. As a physician, you know, I felt like I understood the complexity of the problem. As an American citizen, I was rooting for the President to hit a home run. And frankly at the end I was afraid that he whiffed on a lot of the things that frankly, you know -- people were looking for more substance than they got.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Do you think he answered any of the three questions I put: Give me the compelling reason for change, tell me what the change is and how you going to pay for it? Did he do any of those three?

SNYDERMAN: Not to my satisfaction. And I think the way to have perhaps have done it was to say more plainly it's hard to see what's around the bend. However, it's like, you know, that ad we're seeing, you pay me now or pay me later. We're going to pay big time if we don't get this. I don't think we're going to be a great world power. I do think this can break the bank. But to say to everyone, you have to step up, and everyone has to do a little something. That responsibility message that he's talked about, I didn't hear much of that tonight either.

World Power

“We're going to pay big time if we don't get this. I don't think we're going to be a great world power.”

Because of healthcare?  We already are a great world power.  We have our fair share of problems, but please show me who is better?

Even some of my liberal relatives are againt universal healthcare.  Sometimes I wish it were July 08, so we could have a "do over."

Wanna be a great world power? Don't baby your citizenry

Someone needs to explain to Miss Snyderman that great world powers DO NOT spend all of their energy pampering and babying their citizens.  Last time I checked, Canada is not a great world power.  The United Kingdom exhausted itself in WWII, true, but they did not help themselves with the NHS.

Who on earth is afraid of the EU, with so many of their countries pampering and babying their citizens with varying models of government-run health care?

One of the biggest criteria for being a member of the "Going Nowhere" club is for a government to baby people with things the citizenry should really manage to go out and get themselves.  That includes health care.

STATE CHANNEL 1...

Well folks, let's be honest. Anything & everything to do with General Electric, & the NBC family is part of that, is part of the US Gov't. They got bailout money to the tune of about $140 billion, so they are a GSE.

NBCnews, CNBC, & MSNBC all answer to Obama. He is there new boss. Now if only the "pay-tzar" would do his job & cut pay for UNDERPERFORMING divisions, like at MSNBC. I just saying.

Getting Priorities Right

These people are so out of touch with the country it is amazing.  Here we have more people losing their jobs everyday and more people giving up attempts to find a job and stupid media idiots as well as the incompetent President of the United States are more concerned about healthcare.  Dr. Nancy Snyderman is just another ignorant water carrier for the obama administration. Her comment that the US is not going to be a great world power is absurd.  Because of healthcare? At this point, my thoughts about these people are unprintable.

Don't you understand

Don't you understand NFOL....this is all part of  his "recovery" plan.

I have been screaming for months at our so-called "journalists" to ask him why he keeps including "health care" and "green energy" in his plans to "revive the economy."

It was always a ruse to get his way.

I agree with you about the Doc...that statement is just B as in B, S as in S....

but these two things really made my head explode...(just reading them here; I didn't watch)

That the President needed to "take the scare our of rationing." (it won't be any worse than it is now??? It will be fairer?)

And this:

I do think this can break the bank. But to say to everyone, you have to
step up, and everyone has to do a little something. That responsibility
message that he's talked about, I didn't hear much of that tonight
either.

Reminds me of the poster that says "Rationing gives you your fair share."

I am rooting for Snyderman

I am rooting for Snyderman to be denied access to the media from now on.

UNCLE TEDDY...

Actually, the main guy pushing nationial health care has been Ted Kennedy. He should step up & be treated as anyone else would be. He would wait in line like everyone else, & then finally, the doctors would deny him his care because of his unhealthy lifestyle. Decades of drinking & an unhealthy diet would be cited as the reasons, as well as is age.

If Ted Kennedy is really for this crap "single payer/socialized system", he would step & show America exactly what happens when you become an old fart who is the poster child for an unhealthy lifestyle. The fact of the matter is Kennedy would have been planted by now if he had to practice what he is pushing. Do as I say, not as I do for Teddy.

Ted

Teddy is scared spitless that maybe just maybe there really is a hell and that he purchased his ticket years ago by allowing Mary Jo to die while he frittered.  He will bear any expense to be kept alive and avoid the inevitable.  Drove his first wife to alcoholism and his son Patrick too.  Good going Ted.

Whiff

Well, he struck out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th in the World Series on national TV. Must have been an eephus pitch.

'zactly!  If he swings like

'zactly!  If he swings like he pitches, it'll never make it past the pitcher's mound!

Snyderman: stick to discussing snot color, K?

Gee, I wonder if Snyderman's recent sudden rise to fame had anything to do with NBC's shameless promotion of Obamacare?

We're not going to be a great world power without Obamacare? WTF kinda statement is that to make...who does she think is going to take our place? And what "rationing" do we have now?

I also find her implication insulting that if one does not support Obamacare like she does, one is not a [true] American citizen.

She was better suited to doing the occasional NBC medical spot lecturing on the meaning of green snot versus clear snot.

→ Did you say "snot"?

Perhaps you'd be interested in this video of Obama eating a booger.

This is not trick photography, either.  Very early in the clip.

Paygrade....

'snot above his paygrade, too.

We'll have to wait until 2012 to use an electoral NeilMed burst to flush him from orifice---umm, office.

However, 2010 promises to be an opportunity to discharge another legislative bunch who 'snot doing their jobs, either.

We can win by a nose!

Fixing Dr. Nanny

Dr. Nanny said, "We're going to pay big time if we don't get this."

Correction: We're going to pay big time if we get this.

There, fixed it.

synderman,

clearly showed the world that she was schooled for the wrong profession.

Hey Doc

Shut up and get off my TV.

the good doctor nancy

She may or may not be a good doctor, but on what basis , if any is she qualifed to comment from her position of authority that we won't be a great power?  Is she an economist, recognized leader in political/military strategy? Just what is the basis for her remarks? Please advise Dr. so I can challenge everything you'll say. How can anyone on the th ranked cable station have an inflated ego?

EMR

No one seems to be talking about one of the most distressing parts of nationalized health care - the EMR - electronic medical record.  YOUR medical record.

How many of you really want your medical records kept in and accessed by the federal government?  Other than intruding on your privacy, how hack-proofed will these records be?

I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but couldn't our medical records be used for sinister purposes?

Re Health Records

The bill goes further and mandates access to all financial records and all bank accounts. This will be so they can do automatic withdrawals of premiums and fines in the name of efficiency, and so they can measure need in the cases of those that qualify for subsidies.

Obama has about as much

Obama has about as much chance of hitting a home run as he does of getting a pitch over the plate.

Is she kidding?

Obama hit a home run?  Hell, he can't even throw a ball from the pitcher's mound to home plate, and she's hoping he'll hit a home run?  Maybe in A ball, but he's in the Majors now...

Home Run?

Snyderman was loking for a home run. Instead, Obama just took STRIKE THREE LOOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Stimulus this?"

Has anyone checked the fine print of the stimulus bill?  Does it include reward money for on-air brown-nosing?

v

...just asking, pass the popcorn please

            So,

So, I'm supposed to take the word of some quack from NBC? I don't think think so. The people have given too much already. Barney Frank is one of the main causes of this B.S. He said " there is nothing wrong with Fannie Mae". Not long after, Fannie fell apart. Bush got the blame & Frank is still in office. Now the govt. & this witch want the people to "step up". O.K. Let's step up. Step up to D.C. & Throw these bums out.

Obama needs counseling

He sounded like he did not read the 1018 pages.  I did.  I find more trouble every time I look.

His platitudes and promises do not match what is written.

His plan is constipated and may actually be a bowel obstruction.

Obama needs counseling

Sure a lot of intrusive behavior from the IRS on this bill.

where is the list of hospitals he wants to shut down?

Only comment I have

Only comment I have regarding Snyderman is this...her pathetic agenda-filled show isn't going to last as long as The Ed Show has so far...she'll last as long as the ObamaCare bill does...one way or the other, pass or not...it is the only reason she has a show to begin with.
