National Media Avoid Identifying Levy Murder Suspect as an Illegal

CBS, CNN, FNC and the AP on Tuesday all failed to identify Ingmar Guandique, for whom an arrest warrant was issued for the 2001 murder of Chandra Levy, as an illegal alien. In a full story on the CBS Evening News, reporter Bob Orr described him simply as a “Salvadoran immigrant.” During CNN's Situation Room, Zain Verjee benignly called him “a laborer from El Salvador” and later, on Anderson Cooper 360, news reader Erica Hill referred to him as “a U.S. prison inmate from El Salvador.” (In between, the contrarian Lou Dobbs did identify Guandique as “a criminal illegal alien.”)

FNC's Bret Baier, on his 6 PM EST show, cited the new charge against “a Salvadoran immigrant” while multiple dispatches from the AP's Brian Westerly described Guandique as “an imprisoned Salvadoran immigrant.”

Wednesday's front page Washington Post article cited the murder suspect's immigration status, but not until the third paragraph: “Guandique, who entered the United States illegally in 2000 and had trouble scraping together a new life in Washington...” In contrast, the free Washington Examiner put the relevant fact in the lead of its story for the Wednesday paper:

Nearly eight years after the disappearance of congressional intern Chandra Levy dominated national headlines, D.C. authorities charged with murder an illegal immigrant who had been questioned in the early stages of the investigation.

Neither ABC's World News nor the NBC Nightly News mentioned the arrest warrant. Bob Orr began his piece for the March 3 CBS Evening News:

Police identified the killer of Chandra Levy as Ingmar Guandique, a Salvadoran immigrant who's already in a California prison for assaulting two other women in the same Washington park where Levy was murdered.

It's funny really, but FOX

It's funny really, but FOX via Brett Baier had to apologize on air for originally naming Gary Conduit as the former REPUBLICAN congressman.

He was, of course, a DEMOCRAT. But Fox only knew after the station was flooded with emails correcting the error. Wow.

I missed the apology.

I missed the apology. My bad.

Gary Condit's a republican?

Last night on Fox News' Special Report w/ Bret Baier he did a report on
Chandra Levy's killer. While commenting he labeled US representative
Gary Condit of California a Republican. Gary Condit is a Democrat.

WOW

This was as predictable as anything else PRAVDA does with their template DNC reporting standards.

Our PRAVDA media must fail for America to succeed. And the sooner the better.

LABELS...

Bret Baier might not have ID'ed the guy as an illegal, but I know O'Reilly did. I have not heard Beck or Hannity cover this story, but I doubt if they would look past the fact this criminal dirtbag is an illegal.

"The Fairness Doctrine = Jim Crow laws for Conservatives".  Jim Quinn from "Quinn & Rose"

Glen Beck did

There was no doubt about the alleged murderer being illegal with Glen Beck.

It just shows how the media hiding facts is getting people killed. The southern border violence is build like crazy, does anyone see Obama stepping up troops on our border?

In Northern Virginia,

In Northern Virginia, "Salvadoran immigrant" translates to "illegal alien and MS-13 gang member".  I'm sure there's a lawyer out there who will make sure this sack of crap is in line for a bite of the porkulus law--they have allocated quite a chunk of change for gang tattoo removal, after all.

I was just reading the CNN

I was just reading the CNN article, wondering if he was an illegal or not. Since he was identified as an "El Salvador laborer," I assumed that he was most likely in our country illegally.

Would've been nice if the reporter would've included that key piece of information... whether he was in the country properly or illegally.

Same old game...

We play this game with the Arizona Republic and the East Valley Tribune papers practically every day here in the Phoenix area.  They are replete with stories involving illegals committing various levels of crimes here locally, but RARELY is anybody ever identified as being one.

A member of my family had his home door kicked in last Sunday morning by a gentleman who was most likely here in the U.S. illegally. Most of the illegals, especially the more recently arrived, can't speak English very well. This particular person was clearly heard to be screaming in Spanish as he ran out the door, my brother-in-law in close pursuit with a gun in hand.

Yeah, they're just here to better their lives...

Another reason

Another reason why when at home I am never more than about 10 feet from a firearm

I am right with you Jed58,

I am right with you Jed58, I have a lot of "Cuban Immigrants" in my surrounding neighborhoods so my Colt Commander is always riding on my belt.

Fox News

When the Chandra Levy murderer is mentioned in ALL Fox News reports, he is identified as an "immigrant" - never an "illegal alien".

Ticks me off.

The Fox opinion shows may identify this murderer correctly, but the News portions of Fox is just as guility as the liberal media in sidestepping and whitewashing the FACTS.

REALLY ticks me off.

True Bond

And they also called Condit a Republican last night....quickly fixed, but these kind of errors are inexcusable.

I hope he fails, too.
