“A coming episode of the acclaimed FX drama Rescue Me will tackle what may sound like a far-fetched plot line: that the attacks of Sept. 11 were an 'inside job,'” Brian Stelter reported in the New York Times, noting the ludicrous plot “may represent the first fictional presentation of 9/11 conspiracy theories by a mainstream media company (FX is operated by the News Corporation).” Actor Daniel Sunjata (IMDB page), who plays New York City firefighter “Franco Rivera” -- and who in a photo with the Times story sported a shirt emblazoned “INVESTIGATE 9/11” -- “predicted that the episode would be 'socio-politically provocative.'”
In the episode, the second in the new season starting in April, “Mr. Sunjata’s character delivers a two-minute monologue for a French journalist describing a 'neoconservative government effort' to control the world’s oil, drastically increase military spending and 'change the definition of pre-emptive attack.' To put it into action, he continues, 'what you need is a new Pearl Harbor. That’s what they said they needed.'” Now that's some crazy paranoia.
Left-wing actor/comedian Denis Leary created Rescue Me (IMDb page) in which he stars as New York City firefighter “Tommy Gavin.” A promo for the new season gives you a flavor of the series in this exchange between “Tommy Gavin” and his teenage daughter “Colleen” as he offers his fatherly advise about another firefighter:
DAUGHTER COLLEEN: Are you actually telling me to have sex with Sean?TOMMY GAVIN: No, kinda, you know do the Clinton thing.
DAUGHTER: Oh my God!
More from the short February 2 New York Times article, “The Political Suspicions of 9/11,” by Brian Stelter:
....Mr. Sunjata surprised some of the TV reporters when he said that he “absolutely, 100 percent” supports the assertion that “9/11 was an inside job.”
The alternative theories “seem to me to make a lot more sense than the ones that are popularly espoused,” he said, calling it admirable that the conversation was allowed within “Rescue Me.”
Peter Tolan, an executive producer, said Mr. Sunjata is “well read” and has “done a lot of research.”
“Look, obviously not all of us buy in,” he told reporters. “But we went: ‘Wow, that’s interesting, and he’s passionate about it. Let’s use that.’”...

Actually, the real
February 14, 2009 - 16:07 ET by DontFeedTheTrollsActually, the real conspiracy is now unfolding, it's a neo-progressive, Soros funded conspiracy to control the world’s oil and economy, drastically decrease American military spending and power, and change the definition of patriot. A new American patriot is obediant and unthinking. To put it into action, what you need is a new 'Pearl Harbor', that’s what the soros puppet Obama says the faltering economy is and he says we can't wait and think it out, we MUST OBEY HIM NOW.
P.S. I wouldn't be surprised if Soros was funding Osama and his ilk.

Art leaving reality far behind
February 14, 2009 - 16:35 ET by KC MulvilleArtists frequently describe their purpose as "provoking" social conversation. But we have a glut of artists, who reject the mundane life of real jobs, trying to be provocative. To stand out (and attract payment), certain aspiring artists simply cross the line of reality. They toss off wild ideas just to be provocative, and don't grasp that in so doing, they make it impossible for the ensuing social conversation to be rational.
It's a shame. I saw this Sunjata guy in the Kevin Kline version of "Cyrano." and I thought he was pretty good. Too bad he's kind of a nutcase.

...Just a small bit to say thanks to my parents. I grew up in a small conservative & open minded area surrounded by "liberal la-la land" (as dad put it). My parents busted their butts @ work (and I did @ school) to get me out of a FDR/LBJ/Carter & Carl Marx worshiping public school system (I'm NOT kidding about Marx). I ended up in a private high school where faculty were prohibited from ANY electioneering or political endorsements.
I'm eternally gratefull. Many of my close friends ended up pot smoking uber-liberals.
Your comments are sadly spot on.

I despise them.
Btw...Nobody could have read all that was in that bill yesterday before they voted for it, bad enough what we did know...the traitors three didn't care one iota...it is all power, they have no conscience, for me this is soulless political whoring.
Power Rules All.
We need to rid them of it as soon as possible with a real conservative to at least run against them, with plenty of backing/support etc.
Let's do it
February 15, 2009 - 04:02 ET by gopcongressI believe that it will happen. In short, people can temporarily hold power just because of their position on the fulcrom of the lever, but invariably the lever tilts one way or the other and they find themselves fending for themselves from BOTH sides of the see saw.
But that presupposes a zero sum game. Democrats and liberals are MARRIED to the zero sum game paradigm, so when conservatives create conditions for real growth, the dems / libs have to back off until they can get footing, usually playing the class envy card, then they try to reestablish the fulcrom once again.
It is IMPERATIVE that conservatives take the reigns in 2010, and KEEP CONTROL of the horse by MAINTAINING their conservative actions, and NOT taking the temporarily easy road of smoozing with the enemy.
This time around, though, it will be easier than in 1994, as back then, republicans still believed (erroneously) that the mainstream press was relatively fair and balanced. With so much documentation that proves otherwise nowadays, the conservatives will be better positioned to maintain their credibility with their constituents as they won't bother sucking up to the ABC's and CNN's, which have become part of the DNC socialist platform.
At least, one can hope.
Moderate... Democrat... Liberal... Progressive... Socialist... Communist.
The progression is clear as day.

Denis Leary hates Truthers
February 14, 2009 - 19:05 ET by dsimmsLeary has gone on record saying that he hates the 9/11 Truth movement. Glenn Beck interviewed him a couple of years ago, and the subject came up. Leary took the opportunity to give the Truthers a piece of his mind.
I doubt this episode will be sympathetic towards Truthers. If it is, Leary was probably not involved in the writing process.

February 14, 2009 - 21:21 ET by ThatDudeI missed that one. I like Leary's stand-up and would think from it that he wasn't so much of a radical leftist. I am hoping he turns out to be something of a George Carlin as he goes on (minus some of the lecturing, of course). Still though, his political ideology is irrelevent to me so long as he is entertaining. Entertainers really don't matter to me unless they are entertaining.

February 14, 2009 - 19:29 ET by Dont_Like_TheBluesThere is NO intelligence or sanity requirement to be an actor.
I have some respect for actor Keanu Reeves. When he had cameras shoved in his face asking about popular issues, he replied "....hey I'm an actor...." not a scientist or political expert, go ask someone else who is. I believe he said this in approx' the 1996-2000 time frame.
It was refreshing to hear.
As for rosie & these other boneheads I can't believe it when they say somethink such as "... General "Franco" Is Still Braindead
February 15, 2009 - 08:48 ET by Jack BauerDenis Leary is hilarious. And up till now Rescue Me has been on my must watch list.
So when I read of a 9/11 Liars Season 5 storyline my heart sank faster than Tax Cheat Daschle's confirmation.
But here's the thing. If Rescue Me remained true to its characters and their "arc," as developed so far, this element of the Franco character would have been hinted at, if not revealed, in the past four seasons starting in 2004.
But Franco didn't wake up one morning in Seasons 1-4 and decide he was a nut.
Franco was well established as a supreme narcissist, and a womanizing heartless dick, in Seasons 1 through 3. He is without a serious thought in his head.
A DIMWIT, albeit marginally smarter than the other certified moron, the Probie, who suddenly decides he's gay. Or not. And all hilariously written by Leary and Peter Tolan (a writer I've admired for The Larry Sanders Show, Analyze This, et al.)
Franco has never made any mention of 9/11 conspiracies at all. Which is a bit weird as the whole premise of the show is founded on the devastating effects 9/11 had on the individual firefighter. You would think it would come up.
Okay, oaky -- this is fiction here. An alternate universe which incorporates real events into made-up people. So let's just accept that a successful drama needs actual DRAMA to drive the show, else it would be a boring one hour; and allow the dick Franco his sudden conversion to nutjob.
What would be the truthful reaction of an established character like TOMMY GALVIN ?
I suggest that the Tommy character, as brilliantly developed by Leary, would DECK HIM -- and kick his ass straight out of the Ladder; and/or the Fire Department totally.
There's no doubt about that. In fact, h/t to dsimms..
Leary himself would seem to despise 9/11 Liars (the self-proclaimed troofers). Apparently Glenn Beck interviewed him a couple of years ago, and the subject came up. Leary took the opportunity to give the 9/11 Liars a verbal kicking.
So if they follow through the Story Arc with honesty, then I'll continue watching. But if it's just a sop to an actor who's clearly gotten more than his fair share of mental problems, then screw RESCUE ME. Sorry Denis, you will have lost a big fan in that case.
