Less than 12 hours after George Stephanopoulos, on Good Morning America, glowed that “we have not seen this kind of combination of star power and brain power and political muscle this early in a cabinet in our lifetimes,” he popped up on World News to hail how Barack Obama's team recognized the Bush administration's “vacuum” and so decided to “step in and fill” it by showing “the President-elect taking action on the economy” day after day.
Anchor Charles Gibson set up Stephanopoulos by marveling: “George, I don't think I've ever seen a President-elect getting so involved in policy so early. It does seem like we've got, at the moment, two Presidents.” Stephanopoulos admired Obama's take charge actions:
I think what the Obama team saw -- starting last week with all of that uncertainty in the markets, in the dropping stock markets -- is they had to step in and fill a political vacuum. It began with that leak of Tim Geithner's name as Treasury Secretary on Friday, an announcement of a jobs plan on Saturday, carrying through to today, and there will be announcements both tomorrow and Wednesday to show the President-elect taking action on the economy.
From the Monday, November 24 World News:
CHARLES GIBSON: Our chief Washington correspondent, George Stephanopoulos, joins us now. George, I don't think I've ever seen a President-elect getting so involved in policy so early. It does seem like we've got, at the moment, two Presidents.GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: It's never happened before, Charlie, that's exactly right. But you're exactly right, this has not happened before, and we've never seen an entire economic team appointed so quickly.

November 24, 2008 - 22:32 ET by jackie3Gawd, this reminds me of Barny the singing, dancing dinosaur. Except the purple wonder is Obama the evil, dancing dino that has brainwashed millions of kids.
When will George and Charlie start singing the "I love you" song?
Altogether now:
"I love you, you love me, we're a happy family with a great big hug and kiss from me to you, won't you say you love me too."
Now Obama sings: "The change we need, we need change. We're gonna be a happy family with a great big grin and hope from me to you. Won't you say "we can" too?"

But it's more than love. I mean, it's the kind of love that anybody who's been a 9th-grade boy understands this species of love. Do you know what I mean? .....it's red-in-the-face, I-think-about-you-when-I-go-to-bed, too embarrassed to stand up, it's sealed-with-a-kiss love. I mean, it's real, it's palpable.

November 24, 2008 - 22:55 ET by jaywlLet's see, last week I kept hearing and reading from both the left and right media that Obama needed to announce something, anything on the economy. Name his Sec. of Treasury, his team, tax cut/tax increase information, ANYTHING to stabilize the market!
Well! Here it is Monday and He finally did something. And now The Obamaone has performed another miracle. This has never been done before! The "this" is announcing his choices for economic positions, and his jobs program. Of course he has been saying for two years that he was going to put billions of people to work, SO?

November 25, 2008 - 09:15 ET by ThatDudeWell, technically Idiocracy was a satire depicting the effects of long-term continuation of some fringe right politics and positions. You could, of course, pin any number of the issues posed in that movie on leftist positions. But the main point is the dumbing down of our culture. It's ridiculous how many people allow themselves to hold illogical positions and that they are fed contradictory and hypocritical information on a daily basis. Let's blame this one on our liberal public school system. This sensation that everyone should succeed is ludicrous. How do you devalue a high school diploma? Lower the standards so that everybody can achieve it. This same formula is being applied to higher education, which should be scary to everyone. We're coming to an age where knowledge, understanding, and reason are no longer the direct results of an education.

Setting the bar high
November 25, 2008 - 00:35 ET by nkviking75The MSM is setting the bar for butt-kissing so high that one has to wonder how they'll sustain it for four years. Unless Obama backs away from liberal dogma on the economy, he'll have a hard time emerging from the crater his money policies leave behind. He may be hiring a bunch of Clinton retreads, but he's not likely to get another phenomenon like the internet boom to shield him from his stupidity.

I'll bet MO is checking out purple drapes for the Lincoln Bedroom or something, but that doesn't make her the First Lady for now.
Meanwhile, Obama has himself said there's one President at a time. Let's hope the media can have the same level of respect. No one expects Obama to take a Puerto Vallerta holiday after the elections, so of course he's going to be busy making appointments and planning future policy. Until Justice Roberts swears him in next January, Obama remains the President-Elect.
Someone's reviewing some interesting polling data
November 25, 2008 - 05:30 ET by legacyrepublicanWell, I think someone figured out that if they let it fail ala FDR, it would really become Obama's problem and recession/depression. Or, to be more exact, it was a no win if they did nothing or did something.
FDR could wait until March giving himself two more months to let the economy faulter and blame Hoover for the mess. More importantly, he did not open his big mouth and say something like -- Here is the solution, do it now or when I get into office.
Moreover, in this shortened transistion of succession happening in January versus FDR's in March, and with a media madly in love with him, the polling data also must have raised some interesting trends of who would get the blame.
Now, Obama has to look like he is helping ( when he is not ).
I wonder if the media will pressure the Bush team to step down now and let Obama's team in so they can get to work right away screwing, I mean, saving the economy.
Well, Mr. Obama, you got the snowball rolling with your call for a stimulus package ASAP or when you ascend on high, I mean, become President.
Your plight is ... Say nothing more, it looks like you don't care. Say something, and it doesn't work, it is your problem. Say something, it does work, you have to share the limelight with Bush because he asked to work with you. Catch 22 plus 1, eh?

Obama has been "Worse Than Just Present", he's been in hiding, allowing the crisis to get worse for his own political benefit.
He, at the minimum, has to announce that the will be no changes to the Tax Code for the first 2 years to settle the markets and get investments and loans moving again.
Won't Be Long Now...
November 25, 2008 - 10:34 ET by Meredith1966I predict that sometime next year we'll see Constitutional Amendments introduced in Congress calling for the repeal of the 22nd Amendment that limits presidents to 2 terms or not more than 10 years and for moving Inauguration Day to the first Tuesday following the first Monday in December, one month after the election. This will be done to ensure that the Obamination can be president for as long as the mass media can arrange his election and that in the future we won't have to suffer through more 'political vacuums' when a president is in office that the media unconditionally hates. Of course, a provision in each of the amendments will kick in if the election gets stolen by a Republican, since to the media all elections not won by Democrats aren't won by Republicans either, they're simply stolen, guaranteeing that the 'selected not elected' president is limited to 1 term with Inauguration Day at the discretion of the sitting Democrapic prez. That way, the illegitimate Republican president-select can't take office until it is politically convenient for him/her to do so, meaning that any declared emergency may well put off the inauguration until the next election a Democrat wins...
Kidding about the last bit, but don't be surprised by a movement to repeal the 22nd Amendment, and know that it will apply to the president in office at the time of ratification. Congress will then blackmail the states into ratifying it by witholding federal funds, like they always do when they think something is more important than federalism, so that it goes into effect while Dear Leader is in office and we can have him indefinitely. Oy...

Actually the democrats have spent all of their efforts the past 8 years in trying to destroy the economy, it finally worked.
