GOV. PALIN PICKS WORST POSSIBLE BACKDROP FOR TV NEWS INTERVIEWThe video aired after MSNBC ran a story on Palin's pre-Thanksgiving pardoning of a turkey at a Wasila poultry farm. Shuster, quite serious, set up the segment with this warning:
TURKEYS DIE AS GOVERNOR PALIN TAKES QUESTIONS FROM MEDIA
GOV. SARAH PALIN KEEPS TALKING WHILE TURKEYS GET SLAUGHTERED BEHIND HER
GOV. PALIN APPARENTLY OBLIVIOUS TO TURKEY CARNAGE OVER HER SHOULDER
GOV. PALIN NOT REALIZING INCONGRUITY OF HER WORDS VERSUS HER BACKDROP
TURKEY-KILLING FOWLS PALIN NEWS CONFERENCE
We've made every effort to sanitize the video of what happens next, but you still might want to consider getting the kids out of the room right now and anyone who's a little squeamish about where Thanksgiving dinner comes from. Are they gone? Okay, here's what happened next: As Governor Palin stepped outside of the hatchery, to give a post-pardon interview, she neglected to notice what was happening directly behind her -- in clear view of the television cameras. We've blurred out the goriest parts, but here's her interview, from start to finish.Afterward, Shuster asserted:
And you thought her media outings as a vice presidential candidate were as bad as it gets.
To watch the video in a larger frame -- those interested in the supposed gore, or reading the chyrons -- can play it on the MRC's Eyeblast site.
To watch the video sans MSNBC's blurring, view the original video as aired and posted by KTUU-TV channel 2, the NBC affiliate in Anchorage, which didn't find any of it inappropriate. It's simply titled: “Palin interviewed at turkey pardoning.”
UPDATE: KTUU.com has removed its video, as noted below in the comments. But I found the original KTUU-TV footage posted on YouTube.

That said, the PETA folks are nuts, and the MSM never misses a chance to slam anyone that is inhumane enough (in their opinion) to hunt, and that clearly applies to Sarah Palin.

About a 53 on the Palinometer
November 21, 2008 - 01:54 ET by DoktorFrankenThe Left must really be afraid of Sarah Palin. I mean, just look at all of the coverage, and the type of coverage, on Sarah since the election. By 2010 (about one year before she'll announce her candidacy) most everyone in the world will think she is more evil than Darth Vader, Valdemort, Sauron (or Melkor - before Fëanor named him Morgoth - for you die-hard Tolkien fans), Cheney, Rove, Bush, Scrooge, and Snidley Whiplash. She will also be portrayed as dumber than Joy Behar (I just couldn't think of anyone dumber).
The only thing I do not know for sure is whether the medias are doing this on their own (they are the largest Leftist, Socialist, Anti-American group that tell people what to think), or if they have been given orders from someone to ''take Palin out''. Perhaps a bit of both, I guess.
By the way - for comparisson's sake, a 10 on the Palinometer is like Tina Fey saying in a skit ''Why, I can see Russia from my window!'' and a 100 on the Palinometer would be like saying Todd Palin screwed his own daughter.

Another NBC staged assault on Palin
November 21, 2008 - 02:13 ET by chazskiIt's obvious that the cameraman intentionally kept the slaughter in the frame with Palin for the purpose of generating another humiliation of Palin for the NBC affiliate. If the shot had actually been of Palin, it would have had her framed in the center. Instead, she was to the left and the slaughter was to the right. In fact, when she moved further to the left, the camera didn't follow her but, instead, steadily kept the slaughter in the frame to the right, ending any pretense that they were actually shooting Palin. In fact, since the shot could have just as easily been taken from her left where the slaughter wouldn't have been visible, it's obvious that the shot was intentionally set up to show the slaughter and that the primary objective of the article was to provide NBC more ammunition for their continuing crusade to humiliate Palin at every opportunity, even when they have to manufacture the opportunity. The left must be completly terrified of a genuine conservative liberated woman. Her very being illuminates the mythology of liberalism around womanhood.

What did the media expect. Gov. Palin to have a dumb turkey dressed in a tux, standing by a Christmas tree as she reads a long winded pardon? Now that would be a bad back drop.

November 21, 2008 - 10:44 ET by TexasteacherThe greatest thing is when people realize where their food comes from. My favorite example from high school:
My nephew was visiting for the weekend (12 years old at the time) and my dad had made a wonderful breakfast that included sausage. The last time my nephew had visited, we had 2 large hogs named Breakfast and Lunch. He made the mistake of asking where they went. My dad flashed a big grin and my nephew looked down to the half-eaten sausage patty on his plate. The look on his face was priceless.
But I have to say, the best meat we ever got was from a steer named Burger. mmmmm steak.

November 21, 2008 - 08:25 ET by c5thenAs they discover that 'turkey' is actually a dead, dressed and cooked 'turkey'! The sheer horror in their sheltered little liberal minds must be devastating and almost disabling. Their next 'scoop' will be to do an investigative series and show that steak and other 'red meat' is actually dead, butchered cattle! And wait till they discover that pork actually is parts of a dead pig! Woooo. I bet half of them curl up in the fetal position on that epiphany.

In our town (and across the state as well), the turkeys are protected. Since they are quite commonly seen, people around here tend to look upon them as almost a type of outdoor wild pet. We feed them when they come throught the yard, and they will come almost right up to you. It's neat, actually.
We too have problems with car/deer accidents. Just like you said, last year we also had a lot of collisions. The county I live in unfortunately led the state in that last year. I hope this year is better.

If the govt. would keep there beaks out of everything, life would be so much better and communities would prosper instead of depending on the federal govt. for hand-outs, but that is the leftist agenda... it will stay that way until people really rebel, and I don't see that happening anytime soon.
One example that makes me ill, this is a guy in some town/city somewhere, stomped to death a neighbors little terrier...you know what he waas sentenced to...176 hours of community service...something like that...this is how backward this country has everything in my opinion...if that guy was near me, did that to my animal, well, lets put it this way, I would get even, with HIM, no doubt about it, and I would not be caught doing so either.
Everything is bassackwards in this society in my opinion.

bt...Oh, from your mouth to God's ears...
November 21, 2008 - 16:27 ET by PrairieSkyDitto, ditto, ditto! I'm with you!
We had a situation here about a year and a half ago concerning one of our turkeys. Some unknown sick bastard (pardon my french), had shot an arrow (can you believe it!!!???) at one of the Toms, and it was lodged in him, and protruded through his breast area. Amazingly, he managed to get around okay, but obviously many of us along with the city animal control tried to catch him in order to help him. This went on for months. Finally, animal control did catch him, and removed the arrow and last I heard the turkey was fine.
There are some real sickos out there, who would do this to an innocent animal...I just don't get this kind of thinking...
Too bad they never found out who did this to that poor turkey...I'd like to shoot an arrow at him (or her...you never know), and see how they'd like it...

November 21, 2008 - 16:47 ET by bigtimerSky,
Same thing happened here in this area about 15 years ago, arrow also, only it was a Canadian goose...we figured out who did it, we took care of the problem too.
Unfortunately, the goose didn't make it, goose got cooked.

November 21, 2008 - 17:16 ET by PrairieSkythat you guys were able to figure out who the culprit was in your case...I wish we could here, but I doubt we'll ever know who did it.

"Edited?" "Breaking News?"
November 21, 2008 - 09:43 ET by CrashEnjoy your tofu along with your man boobs you leftists media pansies. Governor Palin is more of a man than every meat bag dressed in a suit, reading a tele-prompter, combined.
C'mon
November 21, 2008 - 11:02 ET by NorthCoasterThe pardoning of the turkey by Governor Palin or President Bush is a TOKEN!
And they call themselves journalists!
Candidate Palin
November 21, 2008 - 11:57 ET by enchantedoneThe media is running scared. The only reason they continue to denigrate Governor Palin is because they are afraid she is going to run against their messiah. There is no other logical reason.
p.s. since it has been noted that obumer has already stepped back from his promises (and he hasn't even been delegated as the president elect (until the electoral college is held in Dec)) and an article states that it will take time and don't get excited, the media may have shot themselves in the foot. I, for one, am a militant consumer and I take my money elsewhere when I find there is dishonor, and among a lot of the media, there is.
Get a life!!
November 21, 2008 - 13:14 ET by natgoldieHonestly...the liberal media needs to get a life! Start broadcasting some real news stories (i.e. economy, Iraq, Iran, Russia, etc..) instead of these waste of time stories which simply try to make Palin look dumb. It was the camera man's fault! He picked the shot and could have zoomed in to block the man in the back and the turkey..all of this was intentional. All it does is expose the liberal media bias and how they are completely worthless!!
To be fair here, I don't
November 21, 2008 - 13:29 ET by bigtimerTo be fair here, I don't know where I heard this last night, or early this morning, but I guess the TV station asked her if she was okay with this segment, including the turkeys meeting their destiny, she was okay with it, I guess they could of left that out with a different angle, back-ground or close-up, so it was up to her, now I don't know if this was or is true or not, it really bugs me I can't remember where I heard this either...anyway, take it for what you will...all of this matters not to me one way or the other in the big scheme of things... I get a kick out of seeing critters like Shuster attempting to make a big deal out of it...maybe she does too. ;-)
Btw...I clicked it to msnbc this morning for a bit to see what was going on, hadn't been there since the election, lo and behold, Joe was making a big deal out of it...needless to say, I couldn't take him either, clicked it back to Fox and the Wa. Journal later.

MAKE IT AN "NBC-FREE" CHRISTMAS IN 2008!
November 21, 2008 - 13:23 ET by BrightfameChris Matthews and MSNBC are disgusting, and the only way to
make them change is to hit them right in the pocketbook of their fat corporate
nanny. General Electric Corporation acquired NBC (home to Obama-worshipper
Andrea Mitchell) in 1986. NBC and Microsoft jointly own MSNBC, which has
repeatedly been denounced for its blatant, shameless pro-Obama coverage. If
there were ever a time to send NBC, MSNBC, and its permissive parent GE a
message, it's this Christmas. When you're out shopping this year, please make a
special effort to walk past the GE refrigerators, electric ranges, dishwashers,
washers, dryers, microwaves, digital cameras, cordless phones, water purifiers,
and lighting products. There are many, many competitors that offer excellent
alternatives to EVERY product GE makes -- and every dollar you spend with GE's
competition is a vote against its socialist propaganda outlets, NBC and MSNBC!
Do I tell my father in law
November 21, 2008 - 16:57 ET by dvdaughtryDo I tell my father in law (employeed by GE) that I do not want his "socialist propaganda outlet" "fundingrefrigerators, electric ranges, dishwashers, washers, dryers, microwaves, digital cameras, cordless phones, water purifiers, and lighting products?"

November 21, 2008 - 13:45 ET by ConservativeRexI want to make sure I have every thing clear so as not to put MSNBC in a bad light: <sarc way the hell off>
As far as MSNBC in concerned, it's OK to behead soldiers and American construction workers in Iraq because we some how "caused" those terrorist to be the way they are.
But.
We can not show turkeys being beheaded at a turkey farm where they HAVE to be beheaded so these liberals can have a "holiday" dinner.
I am now convinced Americans have, at long last, freaking lost their ever loving minds!!!
First off, liberals HATE the thought of Thanksgiving anyway, but don't get me started on that. Just where in the hell do they think turkeys come from? Underground like turnips? Jeez I give up!
You mean they're not grown
November 21, 2008 - 17:02 ET by motherbeltYou mean they're not grown in plastic wrappers in the supermarket?

Slaughtergate
November 21, 2008 - 17:40 ET by Bob McSlaughtergate is a non-scandal.
Had Gov Palin suggested a different camera angle she would have been pilloried for "manipulating the media" in violation of the 1st Amendment.

How 'bout "a little levity"?
November 22, 2008 - 13:35 ET by JRJ08People who actually watched the Turkey interview given by Sarah Palin must have been asking themselves why it was covered by the national news services. Clearly, it made some Palin fans uncomfortable. Once again, their pitbull in lipstick was shown butchering the language and striking a blow for absurdity. One has to wonder how long it will be before her diehard supporters will accept the fact that she makes most high school cheerleaders sound like they have a doctorate in English Literature. Every time she opens her mouth, she confirms the fact that she cannot speak a single coherent, complete sentence, and is unable to articulate the syllable “ing”. In this particular interview, she tries to sound politically savvy in her folksy kind of way, but comes off like Leo Gorcey from the old Deadend Kids serials. Of course, the turkeys being slaughtered in the background in this video aren’t the issue. It’s the idea that she was so totally oblivious to what was going on right behind her and how it was so disconnected from what she was saying-- talking about "a little levity" as another turkey is bled out. If you don't think that made her look stupid, then I've got some beach-front property in Alaska I'd like to sell you (You can see Russia from the kitchen). Her interview was a classic metaphor of her world-view, which is exemplified by her complete lack of awareness. If Palin ever wants to be taken seriously in national politics, the first thing she’ll have to do is go back to high school and take a few English and public speaking courses. Maybe some world and U.S. history classes would help, too. A couple of semesters studying world georgraphy wouldn’t hurt, either. Unfortunately, there is no course that will correct her intellectual impairment. And the college that gave her the degree in Journalism should lose its accredation immediately. This woman is a walking traffic accident and right now the whole country is rubbernecking, hoping to catch her next slaughtering of the language. Those who continue to fawn over her, largely for ideological reasons, just demonstrate their own obliviousness to this woman's ineptitude.
JRJ... You may want to
November 22, 2008 - 13:54 ET by bigtimerJRJ...
You may want to tell Ted Kennedy the same thing, talk about one who slaughters speech...of course with the msm why he is the roaring lion of the Senate...give me a break...so the heck what if she doesn't suit your fancy for how she doesn't put emphasis on "ING".... there are plenty of other politicos in the same boat.
By the way, you may want to apply the same agenda to the so-called journalists everywhere regarding whoever gave them their so-called degree...seems to me we would have a lot of colleges lose their accreditation if this is the case.
I do not agree with Palin on every single thing, but this example you use here sure isn't one of them.

November 22, 2008 - 14:06 ET by Cool ArrowI'll go so far as to say JRJ08 really "walks the walk" with his Thanksgiving Tofurkey.
Only a pure vegetarian could rightly object to Palin's presence at a slaughterhouse.
Slaughtering language is a far cry from slaughtering logic.
JRJ's savior is going to create jobs. I'm wondering how he can logically do it without stealing my money.
This statement is moronic,
November 23, 2008 - 12:07 ET by JRJ08This statement is moronic, even for you. I worked summers on my grandparents ranch, where this sort of activity was routine. But I never thought slaughtering farm animals was a time for "a little levity". Palin agreed to stand where she stood and picked her own words in that interview. A wiser person would made neither of those choices. She's an idiot. As far as my "savior" creating jobs is concerned, I suppose you think more people should lose their jobs, remain unemployed, continue to collect unemployment, and live without any form of medical insurance. What kind of ass are you, kid? Do you not even have a single of bone of compassion in your entire body?

You "see" considerably less than you think...
November 23, 2008 - 12:20 ET by JRJ08A "troll" is anybody who posts comments with which you do not agree. That's how it works here, right? Your posts are nothing more than childish sarcasms and insults. Even I have a modicum of respect for some conservatives, but you demonize anybody who has anything remotely critical to say about your Alaskan goddess. As long as you and other right-wing fascist fringe dwellers in the GOP fail to understand just how ignorant and out of touch Sarah Palin is with the vast majority of the western world, the less chance there is that you'll ever come up with a candidate in the future that might actually be able to resurrect your political party. The problem is, you're too angry about Obama and too stubborn to admit that Palin was a mistake to alter course. If you want those Marxist socialist terrorists to remain in office, just keep your heads in the sand and your middle fingers in the air. Good strategy.
