Giuliani Scoffs at Blitzer's Claim Obama 'Scrutinized for Months'

Photo of Brent Baker.

In the midst of being pounded by Wolf Blitzer and other CNN panelists about Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin's supposedly inadequate experience, Rudy Giuliani wondered late Tuesday afternoon: “Why did Barack Obama get a pass on his experience? And why is Sarah Palin's experience, which from the executive point of view is considerably more than Barack Obama's, under such scrutiny?” Blitzer retorted:

But who says he's [Obama] been getting a pass? He's been scrutinized for months and months and months.

To which, a laughing Giuliani scoffed: “I haven't seen the scrutiny of his experience or his record.” Blitzer then, seriously, asked: "Do you read your hometown newspaper, the New York Times?” Giuliani, still trying to get his words out while laughing at Blitzer's premise at the end of the first hour of The Situation Room, lightheartedly suggested: “Maybe that's the problem. I read the New York Times and I haven't seen much scrutiny of Barack Obama in the New York Times.”

Two MRC studies released in August support Giuliani's assessment of the media:

Editing Reverend Wright’s Wrongs: How the Networks Censored and Manipulated Jeremiah Wright Soundbites and Glorified Barack Obama’s Race Speech”

Obama’s Margin of Victory: The Media; How Barack Obama Could Not Have Won the Democratic Nomination Without ABC, CBS and NBC”
And the MRC's TimesWatch site has been tracking all year how the New York Times has gone easy on Obama's background.

The exchange, from the floor of the Xcel Energy Center, at about a minute before 5 PM EDT/4 PM CDT:
RUDY GIULIANI: Why did Barack Obama get a pass on his experience? And why is Sarah Palin's experience, which from the executive point of view is considerably more than Barack Obama's, under such scrutiny?

WOLF BLITZER: But who says he's been getting a pass? He's been scrutinized for months and months and months.

GIULIANI, LAUGHING: I haven't seen the scrutiny of his experience or his record.

BLITZER: Do you read your hometown newspaper, the New York Times?

GIULIANI: I do, that's why I don't see -- I do read it. Maybe that's the problem. I read the New York Times and I haven't seen much scrutiny of Barack Obama in the New York Times.

GLORIA BORGER: But some say the experience argument was your best argument which the campaign made over and over and over again. So the criticism you hear -- not just from democrats but from Republicans -- is that you've essentially given up your best argument.

GIULIANI: We have the ticket in the right order. We've got the most experienced candidate on the top. They've got a candidate with, all right, no experience or little experience on the top...

Davastating

Guiliani can be devasting when taking on left wingers like Blitzer who don't have their facts in order. I guess those years trying criminal cases paid off.

Blitzer seems like a nice enough man. He did right for the United Workers Party in Israel back in the seventies.

CNN is so anti-Republican,

CNN is so anti-Republican, and Blitzer and his henchman Cafferty lead the charge. I just found the headline "" under the "Latest News" section of CNN.com. Here's what Cafferty says, in part (emphasis added):

This week the Republicans gather for their convention. For four days, they will labor under the illusion their party is still relevant. It's not.

It is entirely fitting that the headliner for this masquerade is a feeble looking 72-year-old white guy who doesn't know how many homes he owns.

It's more than symbolic that when a million Americans are losing their homes to foreclosure, the Republican candidate for president has lost track of his holdings.

McCain surrounds himself with people like former Republican Sen. Phil Gramm who called America a "nation of whiners" and said we are only suffering a "mental recession."

That's the same problem the Republican Party has. It has lost track of what it used to stand for: small government, a disciplined fiscal policy, integrity.

In a way, the perfect storm of a rapidly changing population -- old white people aren't going to be in the majority very much longer (and isn't that who most of the Republicans are?) -- has combined with the total abdication of principles, Republican or otherwise, of arguably the worst president in the nation's history to mark the beginning of the end of the Republican Party as we know it.

This is what CNN calls news?  This is what I call bias of the worst type.

Do you think by the end of the week that the

media will be b*tch slapped enough in MN that there may be an intelligent question by Thursday? naa.. I doubt it...

"I need more cowbell!" SNL

Either/Or

Either Wolf Blitzer is stupid or he is a liar.

I've never had a lower opinion of the news media than I do today. The next time I see one of my journalist friends I'm going to punch him in the mouth.

It's my intuition that the media will regret this horrific coverage of Governor Palin's daughter's pregnancy.

I heard a report on CBS radio this afternoon that included information about the father of the child. He likes hockey. CBS, apparently, has perused the guy's website.

So, that's it. We know about a teenage father in Alaska. If I depended on the MSM for information, I'd know more about that kid than I would about the relationship between Barak Obama and William Ayers.

Q: What does Barak Obama have in common with Osama bin Laden?

A: They both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon.

"Q: What does Barak Obama

"Q: What does Barak Obama have in common with Osama bin Laden?

A: They both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon."

That's both sad and funny.

30 Second Spot I'd Like To See

"Q: What does Barak Obama have in common with Osama bin Laden?

A: They both have friends who have bombed the Pentagon."

Can you imagine a TV ad saying this?  Do they have the gonads to do it?   It could be devastating for The One.

No MSM outlet would run it...

It's strange that a connection like that is less newsworthy than the fact that Sarah Palin used to belong to a Pentacostal church.

Oh, did you hear her teenage daughter is pregnant?

I think the MSM as we know it is committing suicide during this cycle. If they think their ratings are bad now....

Speaking of lack of

Speaking of lack of scrutiny, Baracks recent comments that he instructed General Petreus during his visit to theater to remove troops from Iraq and send them to Afghanistan is laughable, but receiving virtually no coverage.

Ralph Peters has the best summation in his column in the NY Post.

No matter who wins in November, we Americans must always be grateful to Sen. John McCain for pushing for the surge that gave Iraqis the confidence to reject extremism. The media's preferred candidates were 100 percent wrong.

Even now, Obama shamelessly claims that the surge didn't make any difference, that Iraq turned around because he opposed the surge. According to the Obama Politburo's rewrite of history, his "courageous stand" frightened the Iraqis into good behavior.

(One pictures Anbar's leathery sheiks shuddering and crying, "Allah have mercy! Barack Obama is displeased with us! We must shape up!").

Now Obama's line is that, during his brief-as-a-Brazilian-thong visit to Iraq a few months back, he instructed Gen. David Petraeus on the proper military strategy for the future - directing the most successful general of our time to shift troops to Afghanistan.

That's egotism and falsity worthy of a North Korean dictator. Our military's been discussing a shift of troops to Afghanistan for over a year. Senator, have you no shame?

So, Wolf, where is the scrutiny?

Wolf looks down and see

Wolf looks down and see none and assumes he is a gelding.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

I love it. Bravo Mayor!

I love it. Bravo Mayor! Greet the media's (including stuffed shirt Blitzer's) ridiculous solemn claims of balance and objectivity with the scornful laughter they deserve. Treat them like a joke - because that's what they've become. Perfectly handled!

I'm a cable news junkie. I

I'm a cable news junkie. I just found out Barack's mom was a teenager and his father abandoned the family....lol.

If Sarah was a black woman would her family be getting this over the top media scrutiny???  ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

You can tell before it

You can tell before it starts, that they're all waiting to falsely debunk anything said by anybody on the Republican stage.

 Two of the best lines

Two of the best lines I've heard this campaign:

" We have the ticket in the right order. We've got the most experienced candidate on the top. They've got a candidate with, all right, no experience or little experience on the top..." - Rudy Giulianni

"Sarah Palin has spent her time in the governor's office reforming government. Barack Obama has spent his time in office running for president." - John McCain

LOL!

The new media does Wolf's job and then he tries to take credit for it.

Ah yes, the New York Times.

Ah yes, the New York Times.  The Holy Bible of journalism.  Of course they covered it, in section G page 26 next to the ad for used cars.

Blitzer comes off as this

Blitzer comes off as this experienced non-partisan, but Jeezis H, he's a friggin partisan Democrat.

Either that, or he lives like John Travolta did in 1976, in a bubble.

Either that, or he's a complete moron.

SOS

Are we getting a live chat tonight?

 Maybe in the screwed

Maybe in the screwed up thinking of the left, Wolf is now considering bloggers as the "media".  Sites like NB have been rightfully scrutinizing Obami and his shenanigans, because the dinosaur media has damn sure kept their hands off of him.

Has Blitzer gotten around

Has Blitzer gotten around to covering Biden's 5 military deferments yet? Since libs give Cheney so much hell over his, that should have disqualified Biden from start.

Between Rudy and Bill

Between Rudy and Bill Bennet Wolf has had his clock cleaned twice.  Watch his face though and he's too stupid to see it.  Is it Forrest Blitzer or Wolf Gump.   Thanks to Rudy and Bill for playing offense.  Now if a few more get the guts..........

I always wanted to get into politics, but I was never light enough to make the team.

ckc1227, you raise a good

ckc1227, you raise a good point.  I might add that Biden was turned back twice from becoming president of these United States.  Now all of a sudden he's qualified to be a heartbeat away from the job?  Of course he's not.

And it gets even worse, CR.

And it gets even worse, CR. According to a caller on the Mark Levin show, during a Town Hall meeting today in Florida, Biden was telling the folks that if they win, they plan to have Bush and Cheney brought up on charges.

Anyone see Rudy interviewed by Brokaw on MSLSD?

Tom trotted out his bizarre "but Barack HAS experience...by running for President!" line again to Guliani. Rudy dismisssed it totally. Good for him. Btw, I would have been happy with Rudy as VP too. He's a good man.

Scrutiny of Biden's son

When is the media going to give the same amount of scrutiny to Joe Biden's son who is involved in some type of lobbying and/or hedge fund scandal?!!!

This is just too unreal to be even unreal.

<insert witty signature here>

Just when you think things

Just when you think things can't get any more surreal...

Anyone else seen the latest laughable, risible even, Obama campaign claims regarding his "experience"?

It's clearly where they MSM is getting its talking point about his "campaign," as he is now claiming that his CAMPAIGN for the presidency gives him more"executive"  experience than Sarah Palin when she was a mere MAYOR.

Not kidding. A campaign spokesbod has produced EMPOLYMENT figures and BUDGETS of his campaign as a comparison with Mayor Palin's time in Wassila (1996-2002).

I know, its hard to believe that a man running for PRESIDENT is comparing his campaign experience to that of the candidate for VICE PRESIDENT when she was a Mayor.

The McCain campaign have responded with derision, pointing out that as Governor, Palin is dealing with thousands of State employees, with budgets in BILLIONS.

But I repeat... Obama is now running against PALIN!

Vote 4 change. Vote 4 anything. See Jack & Mr Shy's first campaign ad for the ONLY viable 3rd party candidate.

Jack

We always knew he was an idiot....he's just proved it.  LOL.

I can't even think of an apt metaphor, the situation is so absurd.

Barak should have learned to hunt, though, instead of going to law school.  Might have improved his aim a bit.

David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive

Blonde -- if her

Blonde -- if her NO-TELEPROMPTER speech last Friday is anything to go by, I expect Palin to excel in her live appearances.

I sure hope GOP staffers have radio frequency jammers set up at the Presidential debates so Ummmbama doesn't get David Axelrod whispering his answers in his ears.

|Ears so big, they could hide a 25 watt speaker inside.

Vote 4 change. Vote 4 anything. See Jack & Mr Shy's first campaign ad for the ONLY viable 3rd party candidate.

"Obama is now running against PALIN!"

That's a GREAT point, and I must be sure to point it out to the (few) Obama backers I meet.

Seriously, I know of very few people who seem at all interested in voting for the man. They still want to attack Bush, and claim McCain is "more of the same," but ask about Obama and you get "hmmm...."

"Ve-ry interesting" - Arte Johnson

Blitzer is such a light

Blitzer is such a light weight...Mr. Mayor handed him his a**

----

Maybe that's the problem. I read the New York Times and I haven't seen much scrutiny of Barack Obama in the New York Times.

Way to go, Rudy!

But who says he's [Obama]

But who says he's [Obama] been getting a pass? He's been scrutinized for months and months and months.

I don't think forcing obama to walk on rose petals spread in his path by the media is 'scrutiny'.

Notice to Wolf Blitzed

Had Obama actually been properly scrutinized, unfettered by liberal journalists' political correctness, the whole nation would know that all he had to his credit was a speech in 2002 or 2004 or whenever it was. And, because of that, he'd be nothing but a memory, an idle afterthought of this presidential campaign.

Look how long it took them...

...to get on board with the John Edwards "love-child" story.  Convince me they were just looking for a long enough 10 foot pole to touch it.

This is really getting delicious.  How long before these fools' heads explode?
