Jack Nicholson Keeps Donating to Left-Wing Losers

“When it comes to politics, [actor Jack] Nicholson may want to ponder his very own losing streak: He tends to back also-rans in Democratic presidential primary contests,” the Washington Post's Mary Ann Akers and Paul Kane recounted in their “In the Loop” compilation on Thursday, June 12. They reported how “Nicholson's first choice was none other than Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio). On Jan. 10, Nicholson cut a $500 check to Kucinich's presidential campaign -- barely a week before the diminutive lawmaker bowed out of the race.”

Then “he wrote $500 checks in February to the debt retirement efforts of Sens. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.), both of whom left the race after dismal showings in the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses” and, “finally, on Feb. 29, Nicholson picked a new presidential contender -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.). Just days before her big primary wins in Ohio and Texas, Nicholson sent a check for $2,300, the maximum, to her campaign.”

In fact, “through the end of April, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was the only Democratic presidential contender from the House or Senate not to receive any financial support from the famed actor.”

But “this is hardly a new phenomenon for Nicholson,” Akers and Kane recalled: “During the 2000 campaign, Nicholson backed former senator Bill Bradley (D-N.J.), giving him $1,000 for his unsuccessful bid for the nomination eventually won by former Vice President Al Gore.”

JACK, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH !!!

The Republican Revolution will not be Televised

"left wing" == "losers"

Isn't using both terms in the same sentence redundant?

Old Movies, new Garbage

Once the Holy-wood wonks put politics in their movies, both their politics and movies started to stink. I haven't 'paid' to watch a movie in years and no longer purchase them on DVD. If I want to see one I'll borrow it, but most aren't worth the 'price of borrowing'. No longer any need to purchase music either. Too many ways to get it free.

Old, Retired and glad of it.

Scrapiron

I stopped going to the movies after listening to the multitude of Bush-bashing rants from the Hollywood left. I also refuse to watch movies on TV that have actors such as John Cusack, Danny Glover, Ben Affleck, etc. who have played the Bush-bashing game. I am not going to pay to support the Hollywood leftist. When I do want to see a movie I rent it from the library. I even went so far as to not renew my AARP membership after they put Danny Glover on their magazine cover.

"You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts"

I don't have a problem with Nicholson

I've said it before but I'll say it again. He has donated and done positive commercials but I've yet to hear him disparage their opponents or Republicans. I think that is perfectly acceptable. I don't have a problem with Hollywood stars who do that. It's how the few conservatives who support Republicans act.

I still don't like the fact that they have undue influence because of their "Windfall profits". But it's not nearly as offensive as taking up free airtime in interviews (like Sarandon, Robbins, and many others) or using their shows to promote people (like Oprah and many others) or making negative commercials like Like John Cusack has done recently. He also doesn't appear in movies that give unflattering caricatured performances of Republicans like Spacy and Dern.

I could be unaware of times that Nicholson has taken advantage, but from what I've seen he is a class act compared to Sarandon, Robbins, Streisand, Cusack, Streep, Spacy, Dern and many other Hollywood Celebrities who demonize people who don't agree with their views.

Dee... Loved the

Dee...

Loved the "Windfall Profits" reference...that was rich...lol.

Plus I tend to agree with you about good l' leftist Jack...he is no where in the category of the names you mentioned...his last ad for Hillary was entertaining to me anyway...

I would write a check for them!!

“he wrote $500 checks in February to the debt retirement efforts of Sens. Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.)

I would write $500 checks today for the RETIREMENT efforts of Sens Joseph "Chia Hair" Biden and Christopher Dodd.

Thanks BT - I'm not going to dislike someone for their politics

as long as they don't demonize mine. It still is unfair how much advantage these celebrities give to politicians but I'll never boycott a celebrity just because they donated money to a politician I don't agree with.

It's partly self centered because I'm a huge film and music fan and I'd have nothing to watch or listen to if I was too picky. People who are not as addicted to the arts have every right to boycott all celebrities who make their politics known whether it's in a positive way or not. I still think it's ridiculous for people to act like they don't have a right to do that. Just as I find the liberals who say we can't criticize a film if we haven't seen it to have ridiculous logic.

As I've said, I've been watching a lot more Foreign films because they don't hate America as much as many of our celebrities. Their films are often deeper and more meaningful than our untalented empty headed pretty boy (boys and girls) celebrities who are more concerned with going with the in crowd than any true principal. They have little interest in taking the time to really understand both sides of an issue and would rather just follow their idols and demonize and shun people who don't.

 They have little interest

Dee...I agree...it's not just La-La-Land unfortunately.... a great percentage of our country doesn't either.

So true BT - their Celebrity heros

define cool and in for them and even though many say they don't listen to their political opinions, they just so happen to spew the same talking points. Most don't follow them consciously, it's truly a brainwashing type of thing where they hear it over and over again and just accept it as true.

Copy that, Dee

I completely agree. He's an American citizen. People died for the right for him to spend his money wherever he wishes. And as far as I know, he's never disrespected anyone while doing it. In fact, I admire the fact that he puts his money where his mouth is.

I've said it before, though - I wish he was one of us.

I don't care how these

I don't care how these pseudo-intellectual entertainers spend their chump change, but I have a real problem with the fact that the masses with IQ's barely above plant life assume people like him have some sense of the worth of cheap politicians. For the most part these actors have little more than a high school education and only shill for politicians because the pols use them to build up their own self importance and egos.

I doubt that Nicholson knows any more about national or international affairs than my 15 year old golden retreiver.

Uncle Jack!

I don't care how Jack spends his dough. After all, he fits the Democrat stereotype, as he has made a career out of playing neurotic characters.

In his entire career, I've only found a few of his movies to be worth the price of a ticket:

Little Shop of Horrors (the original)

Easy Rider (his best)

The Last Detail

Chinatown (Jack as Nick Danger?)

Cuckoo's Nest

The Shining

And that's about it.

My main beef with Uncle Jack is that he's a Lakers fan. After Thursday night he must be suicidal.

I liked Five Easy Pieces, as well as those on your list.

As Mentioned Earlier

A Few Good Men is dynomite.

You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?

I'm sure he just does it to

I'm sure he just does it to make a statement of sorts, not because he thinks it will have any real effect. Go count the pennies in your car ashtray - that's about what $500 means to Jack Nicholson.

Il y a la merde quel remort produit quand il a mange trop stupidite.

Hey Jack

How 'bout them Lakers?

Responsibility is the price of freedom. - Elbert Hubbard

Here's Johnny

Cut Jack some slack. His Lakers are down 3-1.

they are basically done. It is pretty pathetic to blow a 24 point lead.

But I guess that is what happens when you can't play any interior defense.

I say let him put his money

I say let him put his money wherever he wants. Its not like he's making this big proclamation "Today, in the best interests of our country, I hereby announce that I am donating $500 to so-and-so". I mean, these people had to look it up in order to discover this.

He's hardly being melodramatic about it and going "I shall leave this country if my candidate does not win an election". (I hate those people, by the way. Go ahead and leave, who gives a damn)

I agree.  Jack doesn't do a lot of preaching.

BTW, just rented and watched "Bucket List".  Loved it.

Ditto...

Ditto. What were we expecting from him anyway?  It hurts my heart to learn about how he views the world, but as a pure actor, there is none better.
