Checking in Wednesday night from Tehran with Iranian reaction to what anchor Brian Williams described as the new intelligence assessment that “Iran is not developing nuclear weapons after all,” NBC correspondent Ali Arouzi held up a newspaper to show how it portrayed President Bush “as Pinocchio.” Arouzi described crowds cheering President Ahmadinejad's railing against lies spread by the U.S. and how the state media are calling President Bush “a liar and a warmonger.” On the upside for Iranians, Arouzi found the “many” who “have long been worried that the United States will attack Iran over its nuclear ambitions” now have “a sense of relief that that won't happen.”
The MRC's Brad Wilmouth corrected the closed-captioning against the video to provide a transcript of the brief segment on the Wednesday, December 5 NBC Nightly News:
BRIAN WILLIAMS: Now to Iran, where there's been strong reaction to this week's new U.S. intelligence assessment, the one saying Iran is not developing nuclear weapons after all. Our "Reporter's Notebook" tonight on what it's like there comes from our man on the ground in Iran, Ali Arouzi.ALI AROUZI: Here in Iran, the latest NIE findings have been seen as a vindication of its nuclear program. Today, for the first time, we heard from President Ahmadinejad. In a fiery speech, he described the report as a victory and a final shot to those who have spread lies about Iran's nuclear program. His words were met with cheers from the crowds. The state-sponsored media here didn't waste any time either, attacking President Bush, calling him a liar and a warmonger. One Tehran newspaper even portrayed him as Pinocchio. Many people here have long been worried that the United States will attack Iran over its nuclear ambitions. Tonight, there's a sense of relief that that won't happen. Ali Arouzi, NBC News, Tehran.

Correct me if I'm wrong,
December 5, 2007 - 22:00 ET by general companyCorrect me if I'm wrong, hasnt the NYT already done that once or twice. Iran must feel they have to copy every thing our press say's and does

Fred Thompson on Charlie Rose
December 5, 2007 - 22:07 ET by Lame CherryAs Fred Thompson explained the much touted intelligence report, "No one knows exactly anything about this including the intelligence community".
I will never trust the MSM on any "news" item, but I was listening this summer to an Iranian mother who was asked about sending her son to the next war (She had sent him to fight Saddam).
She shook her head sternly and sadly that she would not send her son to fight.
When asked why?
She replied, "The next war it will be the Americans and they are not Saddam".
It is easy for chanting idiots of the Middle East religious dogma to chant themselves into a fury and convince themselves America will not act. The reality is the mothers of Iran know full well where this is leading as most of the people who intelligence know from watching this.
President Bush stops the missile shield in Europe. Why? As a payoff to Putin to not stand in the way when America bombs Iran.
Palestinians were told months ago the understanding of Annapolis would give them a temporary state in order to payoff Arab Muslims so they will keep their mouth's shut about the US bombing Iran.
The Europeans in their insular world of command power have signed off on the bombing of Iran by America to protect them from Iran's nuclear bombs which they bought from Russia and are loaded on the few Shahab 3's they have.
The only party who is still negotiating is China. Their games of not allowing the Kitty Hawk into a port of call at Hong Kong and their economic warfare are but telling the US they want a bigger payoff.
The only people who do not know Iran is going to be hit in 2008 is NBC, the MSM and the ranting Muslim mobs of Ahmadinejad.

Nuclear Weapons
December 5, 2007 - 22:16 ET by ScrapironOld, Retired and glad of it.
If it's true that Iran stopped development of nuclear weapons in 2003 you can add that to the list of (Libya, North Korea and Iraq) successes by the Bush administration. Four rogue countries out of the nuclear weapon business would be a great accomplishment. Can we elect him for another term (democrats don't respect the constitution ,why should we, and few of them have ever read it)? Bobby (KKK) Byrd carried a copy for self protection in case someone charged him with treason, any other democrats?

Oh look, nothing in there about the US encouraging the shah to develop nuclear energy so that Iran could export more of it's oil. As I read someone claim on this site earlier. I also see co-operation with the US and France, Germany, Argentina etc.
Also from the NTI: "In the mid-1970s, Iran initiated a nuclear power
program, though there are reports that it also began a small nuclear
weapon research program at the same time. The 1979 revolution ended all
nuclear efforts until 1984, when Iran revived the nuclear power program
and reportedly began covert procurement for a nuclear weapon program."

For instance, when this likeness of President Clinton, his favorite activities, and the European's view of the US showed up in a parade in Germany in 1998, the image was quickly picked up and plastered across newspapers and flashed on screen on the NBC Nightly news.
Of course it was. Right? Oh, well, you might have just missed it. Everyone was talking about it. Right?

PT, I am not concerned
December 7, 2007 - 13:01 ET by bassndudePT, I am not concerned about Iran attacking the US with their nukes. Iran has made it clear, they only want to nuke Israel and have the Iman return. Climb out of his well and make it all better. Now, if your ok with this, fine. Your nuttier than they are. Of course, they dont have a delivery system to hit the US, but they do have the delivery system to hit Israel. What u gonna do when we hit them back for Israel?
