FNC's John Gibson opened Tuesday's The Big Story by looking at the “gall” of liberal Democrats condemning Rush Limbaugh for supposedly insulting as “phony soldiers” Iraq war veterans who oppose the war. During a segment with former Republican Senator Rick Santorum and Jonah Goldberg of National Review Online, on how liberals have deliberately misconstrued Limbaugh's remark, Gibson played soundbites, critical of troop performance, from Senator Harry Reid, Senator John Kerry, Congressman John Murtha and Senator Dick Durbin. Following each clip, FNC displayed a bumper with a sound effect: “Who said that? Not Rush Limbaugh!” Gibson explained after the four videos aired: “None of those things were uttered by Rush Limbaugh. I mean, in a way you wonder where do they get the, I don't know, gall to be going after him over this?”
Video clip (1:20): Real (2.2 Mb) or Windows Media (2.6 Mb), plus MP3 audio (450 Kb)
The four soundbites in the posted video:
Senator Harry Reid: “That this war is lost, and that the surge is not accomplishing anything.”John Kerry: “If you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq.”
Congressman John Murtha: “Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”
Senator Dick Durbin: “If I read this to you and didn't tell you it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have happened by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags or some mad regime, Pol Pot or others that had no concern for human beings.”

Hilarious they could go after Limbaugh for repeating the words of a caller when they have entire speeches denouncing our troops.
And Harry Reid (Wally Cox to block, please), I can just see Old Harry coming after Rush in a waer of words. Truth is, he's a wuss who'd love nothing more than to enjoy a report of American troops on the run and dying in droves.

October 3, 2007 - 02:58 ET by mcwhite36But wait we might have taken all that out of context. Seriously though, what John Kerry said really offends me as a soldier and should offend most Americans with a comment like that. I don't know what else was said at that time but you know all this is for them is a Gotcha Game. You know they must not have a lot to do in Washington to be focused on someone like Rush who isn't in a position to make changes.

Oh, I know, "ancient history." But Kerry didn't consider his "heroics" ancient history, and expected to be elected on that basis.
I wish the Republicans would get a resoloution of condemnation going at least for Murtha, who outright accused soldiers of murder in cold blood, without knowing the facts. Has he apologized for that yet?
I do believe that what the
October 3, 2007 - 05:59 ET by USA4freedomI do believe that what the Democrats will do is open the
door into their own nose.
They over play their hand every time.
That being said, are all the Republicans completely ball
less?
This is a large part of our problem. They are afraid to
stand up for what is right.
They are afraid that they will hear it in a campaign add
later, just like this children health care bill. (The first step in national
health care.) (Republicans): We will offer $10- for this new entitlement. (that
will grow into $100..) (Democrats): We will offer $1000 – for this new
entitlement (we don’t care what it grows into).. but if you don’t vote for the:
we have to save the dying little children bill, then you hate children.
I find it so odd that the party of abortion worries sooo much
about the health of the children. If I’m not mistaken abortion is a curable,
fatal disease.
I think its time for the Republicans to stop sitting on
their hands, (I know, Bush makes it harder with the lack of fence and
spending).. but with that said, we have to start to look to take back this
great country from the children/idiots that are in Congress now.
Now for the men running for president, act like you have a
pair.
Have a vision, tell us. Stand up for what is right. Make
some statements about how we need to change this country from Europe lite, to
the country we all loved under Reagan.
Cut taxes, Cut spending, BUILD THE DAM FENCE, (I know Reagan
let illegals in) slam the
employers for using illegals.
Screw extending the hand of friendship to the Democrats,
every time we do we come back with
a bloody stump.
Remember this time: NO MORE RINOS!!

October 3, 2007 - 08:07 ET by SouthernRootsWhere were these Dems in condemning the detractors of the Swiftboat and POW sailors, marines, soldiers, and airmen when they voiced their dissent in the 04 elections? The Dems treated these honored veterans as "phoney soldiers" and to this day, they still impugn their honor and valor.
Congressional term limits. The power politicians accrue to themselves leads to an arrogance that distances them from the people they are supposed to represent. This arrogance opens them up to graft and huge coercion of moneyed special interests. Term limits would help them from developing too much power.

Congressional term
October 3, 2007 - 15:19 ET by BeowulfCongressional term limits.
THANK YOU! This is the beginning of a sloution to the incredible BULL$H!T we see from our elected officials on a friggin DAILY basis. I am so sick of their petty bickering and poking each other in the eye over trivialities. They are exactly like a schoolyard of spoiled little children, pulling hair and calling each other spiteful names. Now we are fully into the he said/she said game. It is unbelievable that supposedly intelligent, responsible, educated ADULTS would act this way, especially when in the national and international spotlight. And while the world is steadily turning into such a dangerous place, and our very existance as a nation is in jeopardy.
Here's a novel thought: How about actually DOING something substantive? How about fixing (not throwing more money at) some of our critical social problems? How about standing up for America, instead of kow-towing to anyone who comes along with a disparaging remark? How about simply enforcing our laws?
Is any of this too much to ask for people we elect to represent and guide our nation?

October 3, 2007 - 06:04 ET by old croThey have given Rush a chance to take off the gloves. By hitting him from the floor of the senate the way Harkin and Reid did the other day, they have opened themselves up to a world of hurt. Believe it or not, I think Rush has held back on these politicals because of his respect for the office they hold, but no longer. Sure, he makes fun of them and such, but he is only using thier own words to do so. They will shortly realize what one of the most powerful voices in America can and will do.

October 3, 2007 - 15:25 ET by BeowulfYou'll notice O'Reilly's "racism" issue went away quicker than it surfaced? BOR called them on it immediately, challenged them, and threatened them all in one sentence. Basically, he scared the crap out of them, as is the case with most bullies. Now it's Rush's turn, and I agree, they're about to get their asses handed to them. Trying this ploy once was bad enough. Trying it twice in a week, and with such blatant congressional (lefty) support was waaaay over the top, and I sincerely hope they pay dearly for their insulting and partisan behavior.

Gen Clark must be Hillary's pick for VP
October 3, 2007 - 06:49 ET by PawpawNRetired Gen Wesley Clark is making the rounds this morning doing Hillary's & Media Matters' bidding by denouncing RUSH. Never do any of the shows play the entire conversation, never do they put it in context. These people think we are all so dumb, and they must be right in 50% of the case, because they keep doing it with no consequences. We need to have all the things said by Sens & House Dem members on the floor of the TAX PAYER paid Congress played over and over in context even!! Betcha it will never happen!!
This was done to Ann
October 3, 2007 - 09:46 ET by drillanwrThis was done to Ann Coulter a few months ago when she appeared on ABC and was cross-examined about her unflattering John Edwards non-name calling (only the way Ann can do it). Recall how Coulter surmised that she should, in the future, speak of Edwards the way Bill Mahar speaks of the Vice President and wish him dead ... and then the media won't bother paying any attention to her. However, the ever dependable media only focused on "Coulter wishes Edwards dead ..." piece of the comment.
I don't know ... Perhaps I fully "matured" in the 1990s, but I sort of woke-up from the MSM, while a lot of the country seemed to be hypnotized by it, at that time. I was not a fan of Pres. Clinton, but I wasn't much a fan of politics either. While the MSM "covered" his and Hill's personal and political trials and tribulations ... many of them, if not all, brought on by they themselves ... the MSM NEVER did a "draw and quarter" on Clinton over any of it. And any coverage was quickly followed by two things:
1) polls show Pres. Clintons approval ratings for his work as president were very high, even though his personal approval ratings for his behavior were pretty low ...
2) .... But OH! Hey! The economy's good!
Anyhow, Pawpawn, you might be right about a Clark VP. Politically tactically that would show Clinton as prepared to take over the seat as CIC with a retired military man at her side, no matter how wrong they are about how the war should be continued or ended.
Obama is just too inexperienced ... and Edwards is ... well, Edwards (Al Gore lite) ... He'd serve no purpose for Hillary to have him by her side. Not to mention the verbal cat-clawing Liz Edwards has done in Hillary's direction. In the history of the presidency, there have been presidential tickets who were less than buddies with each other (Kennedy and Johnson come to mind) especially during that run for the party nomination. But a female like Hillary, (See: Queen Of Outer Space http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052104/ ) will NOT have an adversarial woman stepping on her shadow, even if it's just the wife of her VP (correct me if I'm wrong, but she and Tipper didn't get along ...).
I've heard some speculation of Hillary choosing someone like Nancy Pelosi as a running mate. Nancy's insanity and power rivalry aside, a double female ticket would weaken Clinton's chances for that "Well, I always vote democrat" vote, "simply because I am a democrat ..." And Hillary, being the first female prez. candidate, would NEVER share the hormone flag with another woman.
Hipocrisy
October 3, 2007 - 07:25 ET by djm159Funny how Hillary Clinton (the smartest woman in America) and B. Hussein Obama (the little muslim) were quick to sign the condemnation of Rush Limbaugh, but would not sign the condemnation of Moveon.org concerning General Petraus being called a liar and a traitor. As for Harkin having a comment at any about soldier is unbelievable. This is a "man" and I use the term loosely, who claimed he flew bomber missions into enemy territory in Viet Nam when in reality he was stationed in Japan and Cuba and saw no action. Alot like Al Gore who traveled in Viet Nam with body guards and a Kodak but claimed he was in Viet Nam. As for John Kerry, he was a traitor in 1971 and he is a traitor today. As for Ted Kennedy he is a murderer who should not be in the Senate much less signing condemnation letters based on a lie. By the way what branch of the service did Teddy serve in? Would that be the same branch as Bill Clinton, USSDraft Dodgers, or was Teddy a Navy seal whose job it was to bury cars in lakes with innocent civilians left to die inside them?
Phony Americans
