CBS and NBC, but not ABC, squeezed in brief updates Friday night about how Norman Hsu, the fugitive Hillary Clinton/Democratic candidate high dollar donor, failed to appear in a California court on Wednesday for a bail hearing and was captured Thursday night in Colorado. Both the CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News, which aired full stories late last week on Hsu but not since, allocated about 20 seconds to the developments with Hsu. CBS anchor Harry Smith announced: “Back in custody tonight: Norman Hsu, the political fundraiser who donated hundreds of thousands to Democratic candidates while still a fugitive.” NBC anchor Brian Williams reported how “the Democratic party fundraiser who skipped bail on fraud charges this week and disappeared....was found when he got sick on an Amtrak train in Colorado.”
Harry Smith, handling the New York anchor desk with Katie Couric in Damascus, related on the September 6 CBS Evening News:
Back in custody tonight: Norman Hsu, the political fundraiser who donated hundreds of thousands to Democratic candidates while still a fugitive. He fled California this week after missing a court appearance related to his felony theft convictions. He wound up getting sick on an Amtrak train in Colorado and is being held in custody at a hospital in Grand Junction.
On the NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams noted:
We have an update tonight on the saga of Norman Hsu, the Democratic party fundraiser who skipped bail on fraud charges this week and disappeared. Well, last night he was found when he got sick on an Amtrak train in Colorado. He's now in a hospital there listed in fair condition, but no word on the nature of his ailment.
An AP story on the arrest of Hsu, which reported:
....Depending on his health, Hsu will appear before a federal magistrate on unlawful flight charges, then be turned over to state authorities for extradition to California....Hsu was traveling on an Amtrak train Thursday when he became ill. An ambulance was called when the train stopped in Grand Junction and he was taken to St. Mary's.
Hsu had been scheduled to appear in a San Francisco court Wednesday to turn over his passport and ask a judge to cut in half the $2 million bail he posted last week when he turned himself in after spending 15 years on the lam from a felony theft conviction.
Hsu failed to show up at the hearing, and a judge issued an arrest warrant for him.
When it became apparent that Hsu had fled the state, California authorities sought the assistance of the FBI, whose agents arrested him Thursday night on federal charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution....
Hsu, a Hong Kong native, had spent 15 years on the lam from the 1991 theft conviction until he surrendered to authorities last week.
Prosecutors say Hsu bilked investors out of $1 million by telling them he had a contract to buy and sell latex gloves, but he never purchased the gloves and had no contract to sell them.
He pleaded no contest in 1991 to a felony count of grand theft and was facing up to three years in prison, but he skipped town before his 1992 sentencing date. Investigators believed he'd fled to Hong Kong.
Years later, he resurfaced as a top fundraiser, donating $260,000 to Democratic Party groups and federal candidates since 2004, according to Federal Election Commission records....

They would really investigate the whole ordeal and all the other connections...because there are more.

Fri, 09/07/2007 - 20:15 ET by Felicity RandHmm. Hsu "fell ill" on the train. Did a Clinton thug try to poison him?
Funny that ABC is also the network not releasing the DVD of "The Path to 911." ABC: Always Back Clinton.

MSM will not touch Hsu
Fri, 09/07/2007 - 20:15 ET by Lame CherryI will comment again that Hsu is tied into the PLA money the Clinton's got in 96 when the MSM let all that traitorous corruption slide. They do not dare cover the Hsu story as it is going to open up a rat's nest of bribes and "look the other way" that all the MSM knew was going on.
They are accomplices to all of this Chicom money.....and if they start digging then Saddam's bribe money starts being looked at and there was just too much of that in Rockefeller banks and the media elites got their share too.
Want to watch the left squirm........make Hsu sing and start following the Swiss Bank accounts.

I have said before this is just the tip of the iceberg...
We shall see what the Justice Dept. does....although that is not much hope the way it has been run lately anyway.
The msm won't.

Fri, 09/07/2007 - 21:08 ET by KhyrisI wrote my representative today to ask how the Secret Service could have "missed" a fugitive hanging out with the President and First Lady.... or did they know and not tell... or did they tell and the Prez and First Lady didn't care.
We'll see if he replies
Let them sweep this
Fri, 09/07/2007 - 21:32 ET by MidAmericaLet them sweep this under the rug. It's just more stuff to 'swiftboat' hillary with right before the election. Grainy black and white. Uneven camera motion. Smiling clintons standing next to felons. Practically writes itself.

No bias there...
Fri, 09/07/2007 - 23:47 ET by mattm"...donated hundreds of thousands to Democratic candidates..."
Even though they leave out the fact that much of it went to one particular Democratic candidate who is currently running for president, they did report it, so they can still claim objectivity - right?
Hsu should be put on 24 hour watch...or he might just end up like James McDougal...
No one above a two digit
Sat, 09/08/2007 - 10:43 ET by ConservativeRexNo one above a two digit IQ thinks that the MSM is ever going to fully investigate any donations to the Slavery Party..Hsu is just the tip of a huge iceberg...he may sing..he may not..either way, nothing is going to be done about it..the Slavery Party is bought and paid for..has been for years, conservatives just need to keep together and keep pounding them in the voting booth..it's the only way, we are never going to have the MSM pulling for us so screw 'em,
this just in . . .
Sat, 09/08/2007 - 10:59 ET by Mica the MagnificentHarry Smith: . . .and Hsu was arrested. And now, this just in . . .it is the 35th year and 2 months, a week and a few days anniversary of the NIXON WATERGATE BREAK IN which we will devote the rest of the program to go over and over and over . .
Hsu? who Hsu?
Sat, 09/08/2007 - 11:03 ET by c5thenTo the the MSM it doesn't matter what Hsu has done. He has gotten hundreds of thousands of dollars to their beloved democratic party and to their annointed candidate Hillary. It also doen't matter to them where he got the money. He doesn't have the bank account himself to have generated anywhere near that amount himself, and he doesn't own a business that could have generated that money. In fact, it looks like he is currently surreptitiously unemployed. Yet, he finds and donates to candidates more money in a year than the vast majority of the population makes in a year. Nope. to the MSM that is not news worthy.
Every news story by the MSM should be concidered a political contribution to the Democrats.

to Hillareek whether she gets her money laundered through Hsu or
Hsu/Wal-Mart (American consumers) (Wal Mart sells mostly Chinese
products, profits to China, bag money to Hsu, dirty money to the Hill).
Remeber when Wal-Mart used to say (LIE?) "Products MADE IN AMERICA"?
Maybe Hill is taking her cut from the sales of our
military secrets to the Chinese. Is that not good ole capitalism
