CNN's Morgan Mocks Catholic Love of Gay Children, Should Say 'I Hate Gay People'

By Brad Wilmouth | May 10, 2012 | 03:43

A  A

On Wednesday's Piers Morgan Tonight, CNN host Piers Morgan mocked Catholic League president Bill Donohue's declaration that Catholicism demands that gay children should still be loved by their parents by suggesting in a later segment that he would have more respect for Donohue's opposition to gay marriage if he would just claim to "hate" homosexuals instead of being "wishy washy." Morgan:

To me, that's where the whole argument starts to crumble, you know. I almost would respect them more if they came out and said, "I hate gay people, I hate everything about them." I respect that more than this wishy washy nonsense about, you know, "Well, I would love them. Of course I would."

Morgan's mockery of Donohue and those who oppose gay marriage came as the CNN host discussed the day's news with singer and gay rights supporter Clay Aiken, during a program in which the entire hour was devoted to a discussion of President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage, and the aftermath of North Carolina's vote to amend the state constitution to ban such marriages.

After the segment which included Donohue and a gay marriage supporter had ended, Morgan brought aboard Aiken and at one point posed to him:

When you hear Bill Donohue, the president of the Catholic League - and I'm a Catholic, you know, Joe Biden's a Catholic - when you hear him saying, you know, "If one of my children was gay, I would love them, et cetera, et cetera, but I would" - clearly the extension of his argument is, "I wouldn't ever let them get married." So, you know, they're fine, I love this little sinner," but they couldn't then have the same rights as my straight children.

He continued:

To me, that's where the whole argument starts to crumble, you know. I almost would respect them more if they came out and said, "I hate gay people, I hate everything about them." I respect that more than this wishy washy nonsense about, you know, "Well, I would love them. Of course I would." You know, really? What to you think?

Morgan then demonstrated his dissatisfaction with North Carolina voters for voting overwhelmingly to approve the ban:

I just find it extraordinary that North Carolina, your state, that people feel strongly enough when there's economic crisis, there are wars, there's famine, they want to go out and vote for their right to absolutely guarantee two loving gay people can't get married. What is wrong with them? I mean, seriously?

After Aiken asserted that some voters regret voting for the ban because the proposed amendment would also ban civil unions for homosexuals and affect  hetersexual couples in domestic partnerships, Morgan continued his condescension toward North Carolinians:

Yep, I think it may be time to wake up and smell the coffee in North Carolina.

You know, Piers, wouldn't that Muslim couple down the road say "I want to kill gay people" ?

Stance or call it wishy washy when Obama held it. And I'm really sick of the media acting as if this is something important so they ignore Obamas many failures.

Someone call the Vatican!!

Submitted by motherbelt on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 6:42am.

Catholics Piers Morgan and Joe Biden believe gays should be able to marry!

See how quickly this moved from civil unions to marriage in the Church?

Of course,

Submitted by Boudin on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 7:06am.

This isnt and never has been about Gay Marriage, it's about the continued undermining of faith.

Gay's are free to perform their own ceremonies, performed by leaders of their choosing, to celebrate a union, that would give them every benefit of "Married" couples.

But instead they choose to insist on forcing those of faith to support them. BTW I know quite a few Gays who hate this endeavor, they hate how it divides, and makes them look shallow, and uninformed.

Let's call for Vatican III RIGHT. NOW.

Submitted by drsamherman on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 9:46am.

On second thought, naah.

His Holiness would hardly find two lapsed Catholics reason to call an Ecumenical Council to deal with an issue that the Church has maintained a constant position on for over 2000 years.

These two major points have not changed EVER:

1) Christ taught us Christians to love the sinner but hate the sin; and

2) The Kingdom of God is open to all who repent of their sins; no matter how vile or recent.

And yet those two morons think they are significant enough to cause change to a doctrine that has persevered for two thousand years? Pride goes before a fall.

Dogmatic

Submitted by LaVallette on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 7:05am.

So that self excommunicated erzatz Catholic, Piers Morgan, is now more dogmatic than the Pope!

Typically progressive: completely unable to distinguish between the Ideology and the person. The only word they understand is HATE: if you hate the ideology you MUST hate the person holding it. This hatred shows itself in any discourse that involves anyone who does not agree with them.

Understanding of doctrine

Sometimes liberals' understanding of doctrine is so lacking one has to wonder why any of them has the audacity of claiming to be Christian or more specific Catholic.

The media REALLY dosen't

Submitted by TheLoudDreamer on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 7:46am.

The media REALLY dosen't understand religion, especially Christians and Catholics. We aren't allowed to hate. We believe murder is wrong, but we aren't allowed to hate murderers. If we can't hate someone who kills people, how are we suppose to hate gays, who love (albiet, in what we believe to be in a disordered way)? We believe the act of homosex is wrong, but we do not hate people who have SSA.
We believe YOU are almost always wrong, but we can't hate.... hmm... I'll have to think about that one.

Catholics?

Submitted by rusino on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 8:37am.

I so wish that those who denigrate The Catholic Church at every opportunity, stop calling yourselves Catholic. You no longer practice your Faith. Morgan, Pelosi, Biden et al.

Go find a Church that with which YOU agree. Life would be easier you would not have to strive to lead a better more Faithful life.

Just another example of liberal logic:

Submitted by richflanj on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 8:44am.

That which is unnatural (homosexual conduct) must be embraced. Don't care to be exposed to it - you are automatically "intolerant".

The family unit (husband, wife, children) must be assaulted, destroyed and re-defined to fit the liberal vision of "tolerance".

Tolerance for liberals means that you must accept, celebrate, and embrace whatever deviant behavior they choose to enjoy. Anything short of that, you are a racistsexisthomophobebigotrightwingextremistconservative who must be destroyed.

Let's take away the religious

Submitted by rbosque on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 9:46am.

Let's take away the religious component for a moment Morgan. Biologically, homosexuallity doesn't work and is unnatural. You know...it's not natural for a guy to "get into" another guy.

Unless you think that's natural? Do you? Maybe that's what you like and that's why you defend this perversion of natural law.

Why don't you come out Morgan? You sound like a poof.

"I just find it extraordinary

Lets give Mr. Morgan a civics lesson.

Anyone who wants to put something on the ballot can go around collecting signatures, and there can be more than one initiative on the ballot at a time. One ballot initiative doesn't cancel out another one, so having something on the ballot doesn't set it as a priority over another issue. Unfortunately, the voters can't fix the economic crisis, wars, or famine through a ballot initiative, so those issues didn't make it. I'm not sure what he expects.

The voters who turned out in numbers to support it don't like the fact that judges try to make this decision for them when its not an issue settled in the Constitution, and they don't like the fact that people in the media try to bully them on the issue and call them bigots for disagreeing. So they're taking a stand.

What "economic crisis" is that, Morgan? I have it on good authority, the President himself, that there is no "economic crisis," that his "plan " is working, beautifully, and we need to keep him in office so as not to undermine the progress HE has made! Did you get his memo?

Which "wars" are those, Morgan? I have it on good authority, the President himself, that we're winning the only war we are fighting, Afghanistan, and that he'll be bringing he troops home on schedule, the schedule he made just recently during his "surprise" visit. Didn't you get the memo?

What "famine" is that? There hasn't been ANY reports of famine anywhere the world! I must have missed that memo!

And what's "wrong" with the voters doing what Obama himself said should be done, namely keeping the Same Sex Marriage "issue" a State issue by voting at a State level Didn't you get his memo?

What's wrong with you, Morgan, did you miss all those memos?
