Ex-Newsweek's Fineman Suggests Romney Should Have Said: 'Rush Limbaugh, Stuff It'
Appearing as a panel member on Sunday's syndicated Chris Matthews Show, as the group discussed Rush Limbaugh's "slut" comment, the Huffington Post's Howard Fineman - also of MSNBC and formerly of Newsweek - asserted that Mitt Romney missed out on the "riskless opportunity" of having a "Sister Souljah moment" by not telling Limbaugh to "stuff it." Fineman:
John [Heilemann] and I were talking about this last night. If ever there was an opportunity, a riskless opportunity for Mitt Romney to have a Sister Souljah moment by going after somebody in his own party the way Bill Clinton did, went after his own base, Romney could have, without risk, gone after Rush Limbaugh and said, "Rush Limbaugh, stuff it." Why didn't they do it?

Why should Romney have to
Submitted by motherbelt on Sun, 03/11/2012 - 7:03pm.
Why should Romney have to distance himself from Rush?
Apparently the women are not all that offended.
To a sex positivist, “sl-t” is — you guessed it — a positive word. Want proof? Two examples:
Sir Richard’s Condoms and the ad agency TDA_Boulder have begun a campaign called “Sl-ts Unite” that expressly aims “to take what was intended to be a hateful, derogatory word and change it into something positive through the power of the collective.”
and
The international phenomenon of Sl-tWalk, which I wrote about months ago, still goes strong. Slate’s Emily Bazelon writes in a piece that praises Sandra Fluke: “Reclaiming the word slut is also the aim of the SlutWalks, the protest movement that started last spring in Canada and spread to more than 70 cities worldwide.
How does one apologize to people who aren't insulted? And most of all.....WHY??
If women take pride in being called sluts, why is anthing Rush said a problem?
And more importantly, if the above are true, why does "slut" have to be written "sl_t"???
Is that Howard Fineman? Boy he has sure grown gray...

and fat since the last time I've seen him on TV.
Of course, it has been a long time since I've watched any TV programs that he would show up in.
How come he still doesn't work for Newsweak? Isn't that the perfect venue for guys like him?
Romney is much to smart to say anything stupid. Wasn't he the one George Stepanopoulos tried to drag him into the madeup contraception controversy without success?

I'm sure that Howard Fineman would concur, that Obama should come forward and release all of his college transcripts, the history behind his social security number and draft registration card, the original copy of his birth certificate, and all the finances behind the numerous colleges he attended and trips he took to South Central Asia. This is totally riskless because Obama has absolutely nothing to hide.

So, now all the media libs have latched on to the term "Sister Souljah". As if this makes them sound cool and relevant. Not an original thought amongst them.

funny how a liberal media supporters get all lathered up about Rush Limbaugh saying the word "slut'. SNL made it a weekly satire bit between Dan Ackroyd and Jane Curtain. But that's ok, that liberal humor talk. Bill Maher, he can call a woman a C#@T, but that's ok because he too a a humororist masquerading around with political commentary. You see the liberal Democrats use, the mass media as the platform for political comment that they dare not use in actual grandstanding because they know its really hard to talk out of both side of their mouths when in the moment being a Lewinski.

Why didn't Romney take the opportunity to lose votes and split the Republican Party? wow! What a missed opportunity.
it's over
Submitted by MidAmerica on Sun, 03/11/2012 - 8:57pm.
There is nothing for Romney to say. Rush gave a serious apology and admitted it was an error. So if Romney were to criticize him now that would be to not accept Rush's apology. That would be rude and ungentlemanly.
Oh great idea, just up and

Oh great idea, just up and pick a fight with probably the most influential voice among your party's voters, in the middle of a primary.
What could POSSIBLY go wrong?!?!
He'll condemn Rush when Obama condemns Maher.
Submitted by drsamherman on Sun, 03/11/2012 - 9:37pm.
The issue is definitely backfiring, as Rush continues to enjoy the largest audience base in radio and he is rebuilding his sponsorship base. I find it funny that Howard Fineman, who definitely was one of the reasons why Newsweek was flushed down the toilet and sold for a buck, thinks he has any moral authority. Rush isn't the GOP chair, and the best thing for Romney to do is to just let the matter run its course. Howard, on the other hand, is stupid enough to pick his scab.

I suggest Fineman wear one of those plastic lampshade thingies you put around a dog's head to keep it from licking itself to death.
Oh sure, Fineman

And are we supposed to think, if Romney fulfilled your wet dream, you would vote for him?
Attending to Fineman's advice whatever it is, would be suicidal for any Republican candidate.
What a maroon.

Actually, if Romney would have DEFENDED Rush...
Submitted by gopcongress on Sun, 03/11/2012 - 10:37pm.
If Romney would have DEFENDED Rush, that would enhance his electability FAR more than any denunciation he would have made with the conservative base! Keep in mind it's not the "moderates" who will determine the election, it's the turnout of the conservatives who will make the difference.
Romney DID miss his chance, in that regard. If he would have come out for Rush, and maintained any level of conservative principles, he would have fared much better in the rest of the primary season.

Pathetic grammar
Submitted by kiwikit on Mon, 03/12/2012 - 5:31am.
Don't they teach it any more Why do people think they have to throw in 'would have' instead of the simple 'had' every time they use subjunctive . . . e. g. If Romney had defended Rush. It's just too bad Americans can't speak / write grammatically any more. Not just once but twice in two paragraphs. 'If he HAD come out for Rush...'

Is this 'sister soljah' thing the new meme among the TV professional leftists now?
Exactly the same term was pushed by Nina Totenberg, and lambasted by Charles Krauthammer on the Friday night libs' PBS show. I agree, though, what's happened to Fineman in the last few years?
Leftist Media Hacks are Apoplectic
Submitted by ChrisNH on Mon, 03/12/2012 - 7:00am.
The real take-away here is that Leftists are in a rabid, apoplectic rage at a time when they should be so joyous and happy. After all, 'Their Boy' is in the White House...and they helped carry him there! But their unending rage is telling: Liberalism is failing, and they aren't happy to see that the ideology they've espoused is unmasked as a failure.
Now, onto Limbaugh. It is clear that the word 'slut' isn't bothersome to Leftist Media Hacks. After all, their silence with respect to Billy Maher tells us that. What Leftists hate is Limbaugh's ideology, and they are feverishly trying to enact a self-serving version of 'The Fairness Doctrine' so Limbaugh cannot bludgeon their beloved Obama the rest of the way. After all, the campaign will necessarily switch gears once the GOP nominee is chosen. Then, Obama will not be able to 'hide' behind his media pals any more. The focus will necessarily switch to Obama, and Leftists figure if they can rid themselves of Limbaugh when that time comes (this summer), they'll feel better.
Happily, they will fail. And I hope Limbaugh keeps swinging his baseball bat at Obama's head.

Nice of failed journalist Fineman to advise Republicans and conservatives what to say and what to do in order to please radical liberals and women. The party of Spitzer, Kennedy, Weiner, Clinton, Maher, etc sure knows a lot about respecting women.

Just following the example set by the White House regarding Bill Maher, I suppose.
