MSNBC's O'Donnell: Planned Parenthood Head Should Be Ambassador to U.N., Komen May Not Survive

By Brad Wilmouth | February 07, 2012 | 09:46

A  A

During a syrupy interview with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards on Monday's The Last Word, MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell was so impressed with her that he concluded the segment by declaring that she is worthy to be ambassador to the United Nations. O'Donnell:

Cecile Richards, you now have my nomination for America's ambassador to the United Nations. Your artful diplomacy and how you have handled yourself in this relationship with your former partner who is now again your partner, the Komen foundation, has been something to behold. Thank you very much for joining me tonight.

A bit earlier, he seemed to give a glimpse into his circle of acquaintances and contacts as all liberals as he claimed that everyone he had spoken to about the Komen/Planned Parenthood controversy were "outraged," and relayed predictions that the anti-breast cancer charity may not be able to survive after its conflict with Planned Parenthood. O'donnell:

Cecile, when this broke out last week, I was in New York, and everybody I was talking to outside of the show - friends of Planned Parenthood and the Komen foundation - were absolutely outraged by this. I've been in Los Angeles throughout the weekend and today, and I can tell you, in Los Angeles, your friends - friends of Planned Parenthood - and friends of Komen still outraged.

And there have been predictions that I've been hearing from people who are heavily involved in the funding of both of these organizations saying that they don't believe that Komen has long-term survivability now as a foundation.

Below is video of the relevant portion of the Monday, February 6, The Last Word on MSNBC:

Yeah, Richards would fit right in at the UN, since they are all for "sexual freedom" even for children, and abortion on demand in every corner of the world.

Let her have the job -- it'd be hilarious

Watching Richards push her eugenics-based 'family planning' agenda would stir up all kinds of Third World hatred for Planned Parenthood.

If Koman goes down. . .

Submitted by rickbren on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 10:10am.

. . . it will be because they folded under the pressure of the political correctness of planned parenthood disciples and will lose the support of pro life supporteres. This foundation is doing more for womens' health and welfare that pp could ever hope to accomplish. So sad. . .

Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment.

I agree that it would be sad

Submitted by katiejane on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 10:58am.

but it wouldn't surprise me if Komen takes a signifant downturn. Let's face it - the abortion is a right" crowd will continue to fund PP as their abortion provider of choice and shun Komen because that org had the nerve to challenge the pretense that PP's primary mission isn't abortion.

Those who supported Komen for their breast cancer dedication may stay po'd because the group folded to PP. Now their past support of a group which doesn't really do serious breast cancer screening is public knowledge some donors are saying - nope - no more.

Thats Fair

Transfer from one useless organization to another useless organization, sound like a win - win.

She can do no serious harm to anyone at the UN. She will be associated with fellow and friendly socialists of the world. She can go on supporting her favorite socialist president and his friends.

She will not be the enabler for the mass murder of children, so society wins too.

Komen dissed abortion. Now Komen is the enemy and must die.

Submitted by SickofLibs on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 10:41am.

They can't 'take it back', the damage has already been done.

An unwanted pregnancy is an even worse disease than breast cancer.

That about it, Larry?

The Left had to make an example of Komen . . .

Submitted by Galvanic on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 11:05am.

. . . for daring to question the integrity of Planned Parenthood.

And if Komen does indeed fail, the Left will attribute its downfall to Komen having been seized by extreme right-wing interests that politicized women's health.

Funny watching Richards denounce "bullies:..

Submitted by greggy on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 11:35am.

when her army of liberal, eugenics inclined bullies launched an onslaught of anger and intimidation at Komen and bullied them into submission.

She also calls Catholics and Jews whose religious beliefs are being trampled by the Obama administration, "bullies". Come again..? That's right..Catholic and other faith-based charitable organizations are being bullied into providing birth control to employees, against the tenants of their faith..but Richards is telling viewers that the Catholics being bullied are the bullies. How very Alinsky of her..

So if Komen Goes Down

Submitted by optimist on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 12:20pm.

Doesn't PP lose the Komen funding that they almost lost in the first place? It must be fun to be a liberal and do irresponsible things without even thinking about the consequences.

Submitted by Soldat44 on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 12:55pm.

If I were O'Donnel's Bishop I would have him excommunicated immediately.

Actually he has already excommunicated himself.

Under the Code of Canon Law of the Roman Catholic Church, canons 751 and 1364, all such Catholics are automatically excommunicated for the sin of heresy.

O'Donnell vs Mathews

Submitted by mmilesll on Tue, 02/07/2012 - 4:31pm.

The biggest problem I have right now is trying to figure out who is the real jerk O"Donnell or Mathews-it is a real problem folks and I guess we can't count on the 6 people that watch both shows to help us out here.
