NBC’s Engel Notes Libyan Protesters Calling for President Obama to Speak Out in Support

By Brad Wilmouth | February 26, 2011 | 00:30

A  A

On Friday’s NBC Nightly News, during a report which focused on a group of Libyans helping to organize protests against dictator Muammar Qadhafi, correspondent Richard Engel gave viewers a glimpse into oppressed people looking to America for support as he concluded his report by relating that these protesters "have been waiting for a strong message from Washington." He also recounted that he had seen graffiti at the rebel headquarters calling on President Obama to "choose between the Libyan people or Qadhafi."

Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of the Friday, February 25, NBC NightlyNews:

RICHARD ENGEL: In this burned-out courthouse, now the opposition headquarters, volunteers are gathering evidence of what they call war crimes, hoping one day to bring Qadhafi's regime to justice. Protesters have been waiting for a strong message from Washington. Written in graffiti on the wall at that protester headquarters today, it said that President Obama must choose between the Libyan people or Qadhafi.

I thought Boy Blunder GAVE a 'strong message' the other day............isn't that what I heard?? Do these people think he's going to say or do much else?? It's not his style.........he figures if he gets up there, and says a few meaningless things, then everything is going to be OK, and he can go back to being the poser that he always is.

No, there's nothing in this situation that will make it work for him.  He's got a similar attitude about it just like he did about the Christmas non-Bomber.  Remember how effective he was about it then?  Oh yeah, that's right, he was in your area at the time.  He had to interrupt his vacation to talk about it.  Oh his leadership skills shined just as much as they do now!(/sarc for those who can't tell)

Yep, Jon-E-Boy, you're absolutely correct!!! I WAS down at Kailua Beach Park with my son and grandson  then, and I heard the sirens and saw the traffic jam when Boy Blunder had to interupt his golf game to come racing back to the beach to check on his friend's son and his (minor) injury............and I can attest to the traffic problems he caused over there in that beach town. And it took him 3-4 days to walk out, looking very uncomfortable, and say a few useless and meaningless things about the 'underpants' bomber..........which he did in record time, so that he could get back to the safe haven of his beach house!!

By the way, I STILL haven't figured out how that 'underpants' bomber was going to service the 72 'virgins' that he was going to be gifted with up there in Moooooooooooslem heaven!!!!!

We have an American with DIPLOMATIC immunity, a CIA agent according to the Administration, rotting in a Pakistan prison while Obie and Michelle party hardy.  This guy, if he is CIA, was over there fighting Al Quida and Obama hasn't said anything to Pakistan about his treatment.  Tell the those folks there they're on their own, Obama won't lift a finger to help one of our own but hey their motto is let the good times roll.  I'm sure the Obama's vacation and party schedule comforts that poor man's family and friends and instills a lot of confidence he'll be home soon.

in the meantime

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 1:53am.

In the meantime, we got some terrorists that want to come into this country from the UK to do a march for promoting sharia in the US.  Hopefully they'll be denied entrance into this country and apparently there's a protest against them planned by some group.  Only thing is, that group has it wrong about saying "we welcome muslims."  That's like welcoming a bunch of poisonous snakes and then hoping they won't bite you.  Wanna bet that Nappy Janet will let them in?

What a mess.

Submitted by CSM on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 9:02am.

We have a CIA agent that was outed by the Admin. Where is the outrage at this? Plame was a desk jocky and her CIA emploment was identified and there was a movie made about the "OUTRAGE". There were trials and a guilty verdict for Libby. Everyone who needed to know knew that she was nothing but a functionary. However that did not stop the media from going ape@@@@ over it. Now we have a true CIA agent with diplomatic immunity being outed and nothing is being said. HO HUM  no story here because it is the O admin.

As for the Lybyan disaster. Where was the sense of urgency to get our people out of there??? If Lybia was not allowing them to leave or holding them up in some way. Well that is what the US Navy and Marines are for. Get our citizens out of trouble when needed. It is called "Forced Entry". Obama should have told Kadafi if you won't assure our citizens safety during this mess then we will. So stand back and watch the show and stay out of the way. Enter the country get our citizens out and then leave.I would not expect our country to go to war over this but the safety of our citizens is supposed to be Job 1 of the President is it not??

Our President and his wife's sense of entitlement knows no bounds. How many parties have they had now? I don't really want to know. That they would dance and sing at the WH while our citizens were in danger in Lybia is disgusting and immoral. That they have done this type of thing time and time again is even worse.

And just in case it was missed O declared himself a ruler or a dictator, your choice, by picking and choosing what laws he will obey and follow by declaring DOMA unconstitutional. I thought only the Supreme Court could do that!! I guess we have been wrong all through our history.

This admin has to go and quickly if we are to have a chance of survival as a country.

You are right.

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 9:30am.

If I were president, and I saw that a good number of my countrymen were trapped in Libya like that, I would have called in the armed forces, specifically the navy and its marine contingent on whatever carrier group that was in the area.  That would have been Priority One until they were evacuated and cared for.  That's the job and Constitutional duty of the President to protect and defend the United States and her citizens.  I would have pulled out all the stops.  And for the CIA agentwho got outed as well.

It should be so obvious that he did show how much he cared about what happened, in other words, he could care less!  And during that time, they announce the ridiculous stance on the DOMA while taking another stance on Wisconsin(and backing off a bit) and throwing parties among a whole bunch of other things(violating court orders too)?  Hell yes he's a dictator!  And he's going after Republican governors like Jindal on phony charges of things that don't exist.(he's doing it through Holder)

As I said elsewhere, it's time to pick sides.

The only problem is...

Submitted by Prester John on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 9:48am.

....is that there is NO carrier group there. Now you would think that when things started in Tunisia our geniuses at CIA and State would've considered the possibility that this thing could spread and pointed that out to BHO's advisors who would in turn recommend some prudent repositioning of military assets. On the other hand BHO was supposed to be the brilliant, perceptive, intellectual president in our history--I can't believe he couldn't have figure it out on his own (sarc) Unbelievable.

Oh I knew that

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 10:06am.

I knew that about no carrier group, was moved out a while back I think.(I'll have to check again at some point, but it doesn't matter)  I was just saying that if I were president, and knowing how the Islam machine works, I wouldn't have been so naive to think they were a religion of peace.

The writing was on the wall back in 1993 with the WTC.  They are a far bigger enemy than Russia had ever hope to be.(I know they kinda aren't enemies, at least not the US in general, and after getting an attack on them by Islamists, they know they face a strong enemy too)

It's pretty obvious that Bush's advisors misled him(or were horribly wrong) when they were telling him that it's a religion of peace.(must have been the bro'hood visiting the white house and Bush along with others gave the benefit of the doubt)  Not to mention that Islam even though it's been around for centuries, it wasn't well understood(relatively speaking) as it is now.  It's almost like they covered it up after Jefferson's time with them dealing with the pirates.

People better wake up.

Really, noone should be

Submitted by ant on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 9:54am.

Really, noone should be surprised by his lack of concern for Americans abroad ( as evidenced by Motown parties, for one). Americans have technically been in danger from an unsecure southern border for years in terms of a jihadist threat and a real number of American victims from illegally crossing criminal elements, Nobody from the Democrat party seems to be too concerned about performing what is supposed to be job no. 1 for the government.

He's still leaving his union pals swinging in the wind, in spite of promising to stand by them

And they voted  for him!!

The eponymous Jay Carney explains:

I think that the president has different means of speaking out on issues and being heard,” he said. “And, clearly, he did. He made his viewpoints known on the situation in Wisconsin, the need for people to come together.”

Or, as Nancy Pelosi explained, in another context:

There are a lot things he was for....on the campaign trail.

Satan's little helper

Submitted by Thoreau on Sat, 02/26/2011 - 2:07pm.

Why would Obama support anyone that isn't a muslim terrorist.

Egypt- Muslim Brotherhood- Supported

Palestine- Hamas- Supported

Iran- Protestors against a terrorist dictator- Hahahaha

North Korea- Starving people with communist dictator- HAhahaha

China-  Jasmine revolution with communist dictator- HAhahahhaa

Christians in any County- HAhahahahha- ROFLOMGBBQ- You know what Obama calls Coptic Christians being exterminated?  Change the muslims believe in.

I have to say, if I didn't know any better, it looks like Obama is growing up quite nicely if he's bucking to be the anti-Christ's little helper.  Granted those are big shoes to fill, but the middle east on fire, and then setting the rest of the Planet on a course of collapse is alot better than Hitler did.  It's not bad... really.

The middle east is in flames.  All that is left to fall is Saudi Arabia- then it's all done.

The environmentalists have destroyed our ability to take care of ourselves with energy production.  The muslims do what muslims have always done and killed everyone else that isn't muslim.  So this is where Barry Hussein Soetoro, the Destroyer of Worlds, has left us.

I hope you enjoy riding a bike.  Because once gas costs more than a trip to the dentist, that'll be all you have.  Keep in mind though, the tires are made in China- so good luck with that.

Remember- when Saudi Arabia falls- It's Game,  Set,  Match.  I hope they enjoy the show.
