Olbermann: ‘Good Riddance’ to ‘Delusional Liar’ Lieberman Who is ‘Lying Even on the Way Out’

By Brad Wilmouth | January 20, 2011 | 00:27

A  A

On Wednesday’s Countdown show, as he plugged a segment on former Democratic-turned independent Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman’s retirement, MSNBC host Keith Olbermann referred to Lieberman as a "delusional liar," and suggested that he had experienced a "departure from reality" for describing himself as a "moderate Democrat" after endorsing John McCain over Barack Obama for President. At the top of the show, the MSNBC host teased: "The end of the line for Joe Lieberman, self-described ‘moderate Democrat.’ Don’t let the delusional liar door hit you in the delusional liar butt on the delusional liar way out."

In another plug, Olbermann accused the Connecticut Senator of "lying even on the way out the door." And, after a segment with Minnesota Democratic Representative Keith Ellison in which the two discussed the Congressman’s experiences with death threats and hostile messages to his office, Olbermann almost seemed to lament that Lieberman had not gotten more grief even as he contended that public figures should be "untouched," and ended up declaring "good riddance" to Lieberman. Olbermann:

And then there are those politicians who sail through their public lives untouched, which is fortunate, which is the way it should be, unless what they are untouched by is reality. Tonight, goodbye, Joe Lieberman, and good riddance.

Below is a transcript of the plugs that preceded the segment on Senator Lieberman from the Wednesday, January 19, Countdown show on MSNBC:

KEITH OLBERMANN, IN OPENING TEASER: The end of the line for Joe Lieberman, self-described "moderate Democrat." Don’t let the delusional liar door hit you in the delusional liar butt on the delusional liar way out.

SENATOR JOE LIEBERMAN (I-CT): So maybe that means that JFK wouldn’t fit neatly into any of today’s partisan political boxes either.

OLBERMANN: Senator, I know of Jack Kennedy, and you’re no Jack Kennedy.

...

OLBERMANN, DURING COMMERCIAL BREAK AT 8:17 P.M.: Lying even on the way out the door. He was a moderate Democrat, and today he says JFK might be a Republican.

...

OLBERMANN: And then there are those politicians who sail through their public lives untouched, which is fortunate, which is the way it should be, unless what they are untouched by is reality. Tonight, goodbye, Joe Lieberman, and good riddance.

...

OLBERMANN, AFTER COMMERCIAL BREAK AT 8:30 P.M.: Joe Lieberman announces he will not run again, reveals he’s been living in a dream world of his own in which a Senator who endorsed the Republican presidential nominee is, quote, "a moderate Democrat."

...

OLBERMANN, BEFORE COMMERCIAL BREAK AT 8:33 P.M.: The departure of Senator Joe Lieberman following by a couple of years his departure from reality. Dave Weigel next.

It's laughable that a self-important prick like Keef Olberdweeb could call ANYBODY a 'delusional liar'.......................and, hey, how's that 'new civility' working out with the left???

His "Special Komment" on his "Special Komment"?  His first was on "civility" and his second was on how no one paid attention to the first one.  So to hell with it.

I think his ratings are sinking.  Which is nice.

Submitted by michiganruth on Thu, 01/20/2011 - 1:31am.

gosh, I'm glad to see Olbermann has really taken Pres. Obama's words to heart.

the problem, of course, is that the lefties didn't realize Obama was talking to them TOO, if not them MOSTLY. no. you can bet your last yuan that they assumed he meant Rush and Beck and Laura and so on.

they really have no clue. and Olbermann is the king of the clueless.

btw texndoc: Olby's ratings aren't sinking. there's nowhere left for them to sink to.

Crazy People Don't Know They're Crazy Either

Submitted by Boil It Down on Thu, 01/20/2011 - 1:36am.

I can't say that I'm particularly dismayed to see a consummate Washington insider retire but there is no way Liebermann deserves that sort of wrath from anyone, least of all Olbermann.  Keith doesn't know he's a delusional liar the same way crazy people don't know they're crazy.  Olbermann's "you're a do-do head", school yard rant doesn't really raise the level of dicourse.  Or, am I being too kind?

Typical leftist...

How DARE Leibermann actually get elected by his constituents!  How DARE he express his support, (as an Independent,) for anyone but the far left's leg-tingling messiah!

I'm no big fan of Liebermann, but for a party named the "Democrats", they sure don't seem to have much respect for the democratic process by which we elected our representatives in government.  In fact, their entire rhetoric about respect falls apart as they continuously refer to those of us in a grass roots movement attempting to reduce government spending and the tax burdern on our citizens by using a derogatory homosexual epithet as they lie outright about the motives and methods of that group.  Or when they try to label anyone opposing the policies of the "first post-racial" President as racist, ALL based on the race of the President rather than his policies.

Liebermann is retiring at the end of this term, and wee K.O. can't show any of the civility the left claims for their own, but has to go on the attack against his character.  I'd love to see his seat taken by a Republican in the next election just to watch K.O.'s watch brain melt and drip out of his ears all over his shirt.  You'd have to watch real close because there's so little there to melt, but I'm sure with a freeze frame you'd be able to catch it if you were real good.  :-)

Keith Ellison?

Submitted by Dr. Ron on Thu, 01/20/2011 - 5:25am.

So, nowadays Keith Ellison does not go by his Muslim name (Keith Muhammad)  which he trumpted earlier in his political career...an in-your-face deal while he shilled for Hamas. Yes, he would be who the other Keith (Olbermann) would have as a guest..

HYPOCRITE

Submitted by Truestar on Thu, 01/20/2011 - 9:03am.

Hmmm....Lieberman a "delusion liar". Even if Lieberman could actually be proven a delusion liar, (evidence for which Olberidiot offers nothing other than his own delusional screed), it seems the call for "civility" is a rather arbitrary term, given that inflammatory rhetoric can apparently mean just about anything as long as it applies only to certain people. But that makes perfect sense if you happen to be a professional hypocrite and propagandist for one particular point of view---Mr. Olberidiot.

Please Comcast...SHUT this jackass hypocrite propagandist THE HELL UP!

Olbermann's "Special Comments"

Submitted by lgeubank on Thu, 01/20/2011 - 12:42pm.

Whatever channel it is that keeps allowing Olbermann to make his "Special Comments," they're an absolute disgrace.

Olbermann is an alumnus of Special Education. He could enter the Special Olympics of reporting. He's a case of diminished capacity.

But for supposedly sane grown-ups to continue to allow his demented, malicious Special Comments on the air is a travesty.
